  1. LaDainian Tomlinson says Hi!
  2. cough cough (Dodger Staium) cough cough That's a hill top, not a hill side.
  3. I have absolutely zero confidence Hendry has what it takes to keep Aramis in Chicago. I sure hope I'm wrong.
  4. So now we've traded Corey Patterson, Sammy Sosa, Brandon Sing, Luis Montanez and Jon Leicester for Jerry Hairston Jr., Mike Fontenot, Carlos Perez, Nate Spears and some guy who would quit before he'd ever consider putting on a Cub uniform. I'd say Baltimore is getting the better end of that deal. [-(
  5. The Sonny Jackson kind?
  6. I don't know enough about this topic to really debate it. I'm just not overly fond of the way the current process works.
  7. I don't know. With an open auction, you wouldn't have the high bid be $30M and the next highest be $10M as abuck described. True. But, you also won't have back and forth bidding that could elevate the bid way beyond 30m. For example, if Boston doesn't want the Yankees to win the bid, they could up the bid everytime the Yankees have the top offer. If nothing else, teams could force other teams to way overpay, which in turn hurts their chances of improving elsewhere. If the Yankees had the top offer of 30m, Boston could bid 31m, Yankees go to 32m, etc.... As successful as a lot of these Japanese players have been, it would seem like a win/win situation for the teams in Japan to have an open auction.
  8. At least it won't be difficult to review the game tapes and pinpoint the problems. The offensive line looked so bad on pass plays today, I could have sworn Grossman insulted all of their mothers.
  9. We looked horrible in many aspects of this game.
  10. Can Mulder be labeled as someone with upside at this stage? I'd probably lean towards "risky".
  11. They got Ben Zobrist in the Huff trade from Houston. He's not gonna be a star, but probably has more upside than Cedeno. Good defensively. Good patience in the minors. Looks to be a decent hitter for average. I think Tampa would be stupid to consider trading any of their talent for a position player. They need pitching desperately.
  12. =D> Well played. I don't vote because there's typically no one worth voting for. Most politicians are corrupt before they ever get voted in. If they aren't corrupt then, they will be once they cross the threshold of their new office. And as far as complaining, you better believe I have a right to complain even though I don't vote. I didn't vote the idiot into office. When I look at my choices... a)Vote for idiot #1 b)Vote for idiot #2 c)Don't vote It's actually a pretty easy choice. I can proudly say that I've never helped vote into office a pedophile, a habitual drug user, a thief, a liar, a bribe taker, etc....
  13. They'd really have a crowded outfield right now if Josh Hamilton never got himself in trouble.
  14. Gomes is the oldest, but Crawford and Baldelli are the most expensive. As cost conscious as they are, any of the 3 are good bets to be dealt.
  15. I'm guessing Padilla will get paid handsomely by one of the teams that miss out on Zito, Schmidt and Matsuzaka.
  16. I haven't seen anything either, but it doesn't necessarily mean they wouldn't consider trading him for the right package. They have definitely expressed that Crawford is available. Tampa has a ridiculously crowded outfield and a gaping hole in their rotation. It would make sense for them to make some of these outfielders available for pitching. Baldelli, Crawford, Gomes, Young, Dukes, Upton and Guzman are all potentially outfielders. Zobrist pushes Upton to 3rd, Longoria pushes Upton AND Guzman to the outfield.
  17. I'd take Baldelli or Crawford.
  18. I don't recall how good Oliver was defensively, but Piniella had him in Seattle as well.
  19. How can one really predict how much power Pie will have? He won't be 22 until February. If he puts on 20-30 pounds of mass over the next 3 or 4 years, he may end up with even more power than Wells. If I'm Hendry, Pie isn't in any trade discussions, period. Just a guess I suppose BbB. I could see him as a 15-30 HR guy. I put on 20-30 pounds and it didn't help my power. :D I assume you meant muscle, right? Is there any other kind of weight a guy, who sees dollar signs not all that far down the road, could put on?
  20. Eckstein actually logged some defensive time this year. Agreed. In case anyone missed previous conversations in regards to Rafael Palmeiro and his 1999 Gold Glove, Palmeiro played a whopping 28 games at 1b that year. He logged 135 games at DH.
  21. Yeah, I'm as high on Pie as CubsWin appears to be. I might look at someone that would help Pie get slowly groomed into the everyday job in CF, but I wouldn't have qualms just sticking him out there either. Focus on the positions that won't block Pie. Trade for Burrell, Crawford, or Drew. Sign Soriano. Pick up Lugo. Pick up 2 more pitchers. Secure Aramis and Miller and call it a day. The pitching staff will still make or break this team in 2007. There are pitching prospects that can be moved in trade along with relievers and Jacque Jones.
  22. Threat? Such choice words from the GM of a last place team. But, that's pretty much my gripe as well. I sure hope this opt out stuff doesn't become a trend. It appears to give the player too much leverage.
  23. How can one really predict how much power Pie will have? He won't be 22 until February. If he puts on 20-30 pounds of mass over the next 3 or 4 years, he may end up with even more power than Wells. If I'm Hendry, Pie isn't in any trade discussions, period.
  24. But see, Torrii Hunter had more HR's and more RBI's, which are the only two stats that truly matter to determine when determining the Gold Glove. As it should be. Ask Rafael Palmeiro.
