  1. Good enough. Just looking for some clarity in "we".
  2. We? I was perfectly fine with yesterday's line up.
  3. I do think Izturis is in the 2nd spot is because of Blanco, which should limit the number of times he actually is in the 2 spot this year. Also, if Theriot, Izturis, and Blanco play together on any days, my guess is that Theriot will be in the 2 spot by Lou's usage patterns-Izturis probably will be in the 2 spot less than 20 times this year. This might have been a good day to give Theriot a start. Sheets doesn't give up many walks, but if anyone can draw one off of him, it might just be Theriot.
  4. My appreciation level for Lou just dropped a notch. And it's not like Izturis has ever had success against Sheets. Hopefully, this line up concoction will be short lived. After 4 games last year, I had a long list of things that I felt Dusty did wrong. After 4 games with Lou, the only thing I've second guessed on him is taking out Marquis an inning early. Not bad. I'm second guessing him on Izturis, and I hope I end up being wrong and Izturis has a great day in the 2 hole. But, Izturis just isn't an OBP hog and he's better suited to hit at the bottom of the order.
  5. If a guy is having success in a particular spot in the line up, why deviate away from it? Izturis hitting well in the 8 spot is good for Soriano. Meanwhile, DeRosa, Murton or Jones is a much better option hitting 2nd.
  6. Top 5? What are you, nuts? Only the Milwaukee Brewers have ever even heard of Rich Hill. I must be nuts too, because I'm picking him for top 5 as well. The real question is whether Zambrano can get himself back in the top 5.
  7. The State of Illinois will change their license plate slogan to: Land of Rich Hill
  8. I agree that DePo was let go way too soon. Very few GM's are going to get the results they are looking for in such short order. The Dodgers were in need of change and DePo was doing exactly what that team needed.
  9. Top 10 isn't bold. Top 5 is. Come on. Go for it. I just might.
  10. The MLB.TV free trial is 5 days for EACH email address you have. So, if you have enough email addresses, you can basically watch the whole season for free. :D
  11. He's my favorite guy to watch pitch right now.
  12. Good point.
  13. One of the worst in many really poor trades the Expos/Nats made and now have them in the position they are in right now. Worst team in baseball. The Expos have wheeled and dealed a lot of good players during the 2000's. Here's a short list: Ted Lilly Jake Westbrook Rondell White Jorge Julio Milton Bradley Ugueth Urbina Guillermo Mota Jason Bay Brandon Phillips Cliff Lee Grady Sizemore Carl Pavano Cliff Floyd Michael Barrett Chris Young Orlando Cabrera Javier Vasquez
  14. It doesn't. But where are the white guys on the list? Hafner instead of Barfield? Mourneau instead of Hunter? A real statement would be to do what the Dodgers are doing and have every player, manager and coach wear #42.
  15. It's been 3 games. If you can gather a fair assessment of what Soriano is going to do this year in the lead off spot after three games, then we should also assume: Barrett will go hitless all year long. Izturis will hit .364 all year long. The Cubs will average 1 home run every three games all year long. Derrek Lee will have zero RBI all year long. It's unreasonable to think that the stats of the last 3 games is a true indicator of how every player will perform this year. And I beg to differ on the weather. There is a reason that extremely cold days tend to be low scoring affairs. When you are freezing cold out there on the field, it is very difficult to be relaxed and loose. If Soriano could put up an OPS+ of 132 in arguably the toughest park to hit in, is it fair to assume he'll continue to only put up an 88 OPS+ in a Cub uniform in arguably the best hitting division in the major leagues?
  16. Somebody needs to hurry up. I cancelled my MLB.TV so my credit card wouldn't get charged for it. What a mess they all made. This is the type of negotiating you do during the OFFSEASON! Idiots.

    Week 1

They may skip a starter and leave Bonderman and Halladay on their normal rest.
  18. That would depend on whether he wasn't producing at an acceptable clip hitting lead off. If he can put up anywhere close to a .350 OBP while providing the power that he does, I won't ever change my mind. The season just started. The weather has been pretty brutal. The opposing pitchers have been pretty tough outside of Lohse. You can't give out grades on such a small sample size.
  19. I still can't order it here yet. They just told me either later today or tomorrow morning. Just checked my MLB EI channels and they aren't up and running with that yet, either.
  20. I don't necessarily agree that Wuertz should have come in in place of Howry, but Marquis should have pitched the 7th. Other than that, that's the only second guessing I'm doing on this game.
  21. Totally unnecessary. Please tone it down.
  22. Why take out an effective pitcher at 82 pitches. If it's Maddux, I would understand. Is Marquis cashed at 80 pitches? At least wait until he gets in trouble in the 7th to go to the pen. Bullpen guys are coming in with frigid temperatures. Let the starter go as long as he can if he's getting outs.
