Why take out an effective pitcher at 82 pitches. If it's Maddux, I would understand. Is Marquis cashed at 80 pitches? At least wait until he gets in trouble in the 7th to go to the pen. Bullpen guys are coming in with frigid temperatures. Let the starter go as long as he can if he's getting outs. -
Howry started the inning. I don't understand why Marquis couldn't go another inning. He was only at 82 pitches and he was pretty effective.

They should still have the alternate blues. Maybe just not wear them as much as they have in the past. Why get rid of them altogether?

I think I just lost 2 starts for the remainder of this week. Detroit and Toronto (Bonderman and Halladay) cancelled their game because it was only 29 degrees. Meanwhile, the Cubs and Reds are playing in 35 degrees. AL teams are wimps.

I'm expecting the Cub bats to toss up lots of XBH's today.

I like what Pittsburgh did this offseason. Nady and LaRoche are a nice complement to Bay. Get Freddy Sanchez healthy and find someone else who is respectable at the top of the order, and it's not a bad team at all. How much damage can Bay really do in a season with solid support behind him in the order? We shall soon see. My predictions have Cincinnati finishing last.

Your hitting is far superior to mine, but my pitching is what will carry me this year. Depending on weather, I still have starts from Wainwright, Bonderman and Halladay for the rest of the week. I'm just going to tough it out at utility.

Yeah, that is a bunch of crap. I'm only 80 miles from Anaheim, 100 miles from Los Angeles and a little over 300 miles to Phoenix, and the only games they blackout for me in San Diego are the Padres. -
I'm perfectly fine with him at lead off. And I probably won't be changing my mind on that anytime soon.
