  1. While it felt great to see the Bears get the monkey off their back against GB, the game wasn't fun at all. They played not to lose rather than to win, and that's been Eberflus' theme as a coach, and it seems his understudies didn't learn anything from that. That game sucked. Go out and get real coaching. I'm still in favor of #1- Ben Johnson, #2- Joe Brady and #3 Kliff Kingsbury. I want an offensive minded coach. I don't think you have to have a veteran coach. None of the others in the NFC North are previous head coaches. Get a creative offensive mind who is willing to sling the damn ball.
  2. The OLine needs a HUGE overhaul. Only Darnell Wright and Braxton Jones seem worth saving, and Jones probably needs to move inside. Shelton could be a decent backup/placeholder at Center, but I think you need a better Center. Jenkins, Bates, Borom and Curhan can kick rocks, but maybe you do bring Jenkins back as a backup G. I don't think you can just give him the starting gig or give him a bunch of money to be such a part time player. Pryor and Murray seemed okay as backups, and honestly, they likely can't replace everyone. I don't have any idea what to think of Amegadjie. If he could play G, he might be useful as a backup there, but I doubt you can trust him to be a starter there with so little game time. It would be nice if they had better internal options, but I think they will need to draft at least two OLinemen and sign 1 more, with more free agent contracts for depth. Draft your starting LT with the first pick, sign a stud G in free agency. Draft your Center.
  3. I'm not so sure you can claim this so easily. First off, Eberflus had not been fired. He most likely should have been, but Harbaugh was coming off a season where he'd been suspended twice and the Bears already had a coach. Harbaugh wanted out of his situation and may have been uttering he'd go just about anywhere to get out of Michigan, but do we know that Chicago had no interest in him entirely? Maybe Harbaugh said he might interview, but maybe that wasn't enough for the Bears to fire their coach and all of a sudden be in a coaching search if Harbaugh still chose the Chargers. All I remember him saying is that he wanted to be in California and working with Herbert. His ties to California crush his ties to Chicago. Chargers player, University of San Diego HC, Stanford HC, '9ers HC. His kids probably all grew up/live in California.
  4. 4 goals on 9 SOG in the first period. Jeez Chicago sports is so hard to watch these days.
  5. Maybe we are looking at this all wrong. TV is also comedy. Maybe the Bears are trying to be the funniest comedy. Every week is a plot where they find the strangest ways to lose games. They've kind of run out of ideas, but heck, let's end up stopping Caleb's INT streak by letting the defense rush 10 guys all at once, saving the only other guy to catch the game ender. Horrible play calling. Horrible time management. Horrible line play. More pre-snap penalties. WR's not catching passes that are EASY to catch. Is Eberflus still running this team by phone? Nothing has improved since he got canned. Might even be worse. Now I'm scared someone on the Packers is going to George Martin our dear Caleb in the final game of the season, and we will then have nothing to ever look forward to ever again.
  6. Yep. Was it Baseball Digest that went out once a week? There might have been two like that. I used to get that every week along with Baseball America. The weekly one was miniature size and was usually pretty thick. When they did a team by team analysis (like preseason), it was usually several pages long.
  7. There is nothing on this team right now to freak out or overreact, so my suggestion would be just take it for what it's worth. If we lose, which we will most likely be doing, enjoy the fact they are not hurting their draft position for next year. If they win, let's hope it's because Caleb is awesome. Meanwhile, with some traffic cone or dude from Sec. 124, row 17 seat 4 standing it at LT tonight, I don't have much hope for Caleb to be awesome, so I'll just hope for good instead.
  8. Vrabel's rumored OC target is Josh McDaniels. That would be pretty crazy to see him back in New England again.
  9. I think I'd rather have gotten Quinn/Kingsbury over Harbaugh.
  10. The afternoon games on Sunday were great. Every one of them was a one score game down the stretch.
  11. The Torre era Yankees were mostly home grown players, if I recall correctly. I think that makes it different than what the Dodgers are currently doing. And to be fair, the Dodgers were doing the Torre era thing to, graduating tons of home grown talent to the big league roster. Now there's no room for home grown talent, because they blocked them all with superstars from other teams/countries.
  12. You aren't telling me anything I don't already know. The problem is the big market teams continue spreading the difference further away from the others, which will hurt the overall product as people stop being interested.
  13. It would be like rounding up 30 kids for a game of kickball, and the rules are one team gets to pick the first 15 players to be on their team and the other team gets what's leftover, including the kid in the corner picking his nose. The rules allow for the Dodgers to stockpile as many great players as they can, so it's not against the rules. But, it will have lasting effect on all the other team's fans that lose interest in the sport. But, it will be one step closer to changing the rules so that this cannot continue happening. Not even sure how they go about changing it since the Dodgers are deferring huge piles of money so many years out, so there might have to be grandfathered protections in place, which will also suck for a lot of other teams. That, or you punish the Dodgers for what they've done, and can just point and laugh that they thought what they were doing would not have repercussions.
  14. Imagining the Cubs make it to the playoffs and make it a few rounds in, it will be a very ugly look to not have extended Tucker already, or to let him walk and "that's all you get". Most everyone will have accounted Tucker as being the reason they went from a middling team to a playoff team.
  15. Part of it is also a misunderstanding of what garbage time is, or they are defining what is actually happening incorrectly. While a lot of the Bears games have been close, there is rarely a time where they are leading and punching the ball up the gut to run time off the clock. Instead, they are attempting to get back in the game, so a lot of passing is happening that might not otherwise be.
  16. Playoff hockey is insane. Especially if "your" team is in it. Still good even if they aren't. Teams trying everything to get that goal. The Hawks were awesome for like 10 straight years until 2018. Since then, blah.
  17. Isn't it a bit early to trust mocks? When do underclassmen start declaring for the draft?
  18. Not sure what happened to Pitts, but he's nearly a waste of a roster spot. Guy is oozing talent and can't seem to get in gear.
  19. This is turning out to be a pretty incredible QB draft. I think Caleb has made plenty of rookie mistakes, but I have to give him a pass because pretty much everything else about this offense has been so bad. The good far outweighs the bad. He needs stability in his ears. That requires an offensive minded coach and OC. He also needs way better protection. This team absolutely must do some serious house cleaning on the OLIne. I have no idea how bad Braxton's injury is, but I think he's pretty much destined for a G position going forward. The Bears must get a lock down LT in the draft or in FA. Jenkins, Bates, Borom and several of the other backups cannot be here next year. This group is so bad at fundamentals, every series becomes doomed due to their incompetence. Shelton can come back on a team friendly placeholder gig, where he should just be a backup C when they draft their new starter. I have no idea whether Amegadjie has a place on this team going forward, either. You can't dedicate many spots on the roster for guys who aren't healthy on game day. Many of the defenders would be better with some sort of pass rush. Any defense can get torched when the QB has tons of time to throw.
  20. Epic failure by this coaching staff to have the team game ready. They can’t even do the simple horsefeathers.
  21. Pure comedy out there.
  22. Barkley with 109 yards rushing and two tds in the first quarter.
  23. Not sure why I’m watching this. Could have predicted this start.
  24. Any way to move Mrazek at the trade deadline? I'm just not a fan.
  25. If the meeting takes place at the best Chicago thin crust pizza places in town, it should be an easy walk across the finish line.
