  1. Johnson was always at the top of my list, with McCarthy being my other top choice. I'm super happy about this news. Even more excited that Dennis Allen is his preferred guy at DC. Coaching experience, success as a DC, runs a 4-3 that won't create more holes to fill on D. Now, fix the mother horsefeathers OLine.
  2. Agreed. However, if Allen is only interested in the LA's or Chicago, I could see him being willing to lower his expectations on a contract. Caleb has called him the best player he's worked with, and seemed to rely on him as his go to. Maybe they need to take away that security blanket to expose him to the rest of the offense, or maybe with a better line in place and coaching that has a clue, Caleb can get to his true potential and make this an offense teams fear. I doubt the Chargers want him back at big dollars. The Rams already have potent WR's. Not advocating for Allen, but I could see him back next year.
  3. Yeah, I don't see that. Too many needs in the trenches to take an RB in the first. I think Braxton Jones gets moved inside, which makes LT in the first an absolute must. Then you can fill the remainder of the positions, including RB via free agency/draft. By my calculations, only Wright, Jones and Amegadjie are guaranteed roster spots next year. That's a lot of holes to potentially fill, and it's only two legit starters on a line that needs 5 legit starters.
  4. That's the way I saw it when it happened. You either no call that or you call it on the receiver. He pushed off way more than anything the defender did.
  5. The 4th foul was ridiculous. The 5th one was a freshman bonehead move at a time they could not afford for him to do that. He already had 2 fouls and on the bench when I turned on the game with 4 minutes gone on the clock. Will Riley impressed the hell out of me.
  6. You really should watch some video of Daniels to McLaurin. I basically watched every game. Daniels was VERY accurate, especially on deep balls. Yes, as someone mentioned, Daniels threw a Love-esque lollipop in that playoff game that was caught, but that's not how I remember most of his deep throws this year. His Line gave him amazing confidence and he followed through. He didn't really have to make deep balls a big part of their game since their running attack did so much work. But they did it anyway. I'm very jealous of their coaching staff at the moment. A lot of people are calling for regression, and I think I was the loudest this offseason about how teams would snap him in two like a twig because he's so tiny, but they have all of the elements in place to continue on that same level of production next year.
  7. I wanna know how they will spin the cry poor theory when we watch Kyle Tucker be everything they want him to be, and then watch him go somewhere else next year, and probably a smaller market team than Chicago. To me, you made that bed by making that trade. Now finish the deal and sign him long term. People will be louder than ever if they don't work out an extension. I'm actually half expecting low ball extension offers and a trade at the deadline because they know he's leaving.
  8. I don't care what anyone says, a player's confidence is a huge factor in getting the most of his ability. Daniels can trust his line to either have the time to complete a pass anywhere on the field, or he can scamper around and take off running, which he is very good at doing. Caleb probably feels like someone is going to hit him from behind before he finishes his drop back. You can't play with an air of confidence when you have to have one eye looking over your damn shoulder. It's the worst thing you can subject your franchise QB to in his first year in the league. I'm pretty confident that if the Bears drafted Daniels, Washington would be dancing in the streets that they got their guy, and the roles would have been completely reversed this year between those two guys. All 11 defenders are all within 10 yards of Caleb on each snap. They are pressuring the Oline because it sucks. Defenders were willing to risk the deep one on ones time and time again because the pressure was too dominant for Caleb to ever have time to let a longer play of any kind develop. Who will have a better career? Who knows, but Daniels runs way too much for my liking. I like what Caleb offers, but fix the mother horsefeathers line already.
  9. You know, it won't be that long until the Cubs will have folded 15 years ago. Fandom is fandom.
  10. Finally got a local feed to pick up CHSN, but most of the time every 4-5 seconds, the screen freezes for a split second and jumbles the picture and makes an annoying audio noise that drives my wife up the wall. I've resorted to setting up a tv next to our regular tv and we (I should say I) watch Bulls/Blackhawks with no sound. The picture is fantastic minus each 4-5 second hiccup. Suppose I'll have to research how to fix that if any of these teams ever decide to become relevant.
  11. No one is trading for him. He'd be on his 4th team in his 6th year, and he's coming off a year where he averaged 3.8 YPC. He's only had one 1000 yard season, so getting someone to want to pay his salary next year over drafting "a guy" in the 4th or 5th round is highly unlikely. Fix the line and hope you get better production from Swift. Draft a guy to challenge him for the early down plays.
  12. Part of why you are likely in North Side Jail is because you seem to be purposely destroying the English language to get a rise out of people. You show a lot of knowledge of the minor league players and you do make some decent posts on this site on occasion, but the "smert bidness" and "theck" and "2.0" nonsense drives everyone up the freaking wall. Just stop already. We've seen all of this nonsense ad nauseum. I've seen you make great contributions to this site at times. More of that please and stop making us waste our time trying to extrapolate what you are trying to say. It makes no sense for you to continue posting here if you have no audience because they all clicked the ignore button. And if your intent really is to drive everyone away, there are much quicker ways to get that result.
  13. After reading up on Mr. McCarthy, as much as I hate that he was a Packers head coach, he's now my #1 choice to be the next head coach. He has the NFL results that you want from an experienced head coaching candidate, and it's possible that an experienced coach might be a better way to go if the right choice is there. His determination to get into coaching was rewarded, and I'm sure that means a lot every time he takes the field. Calm down, Tunzi. You had absolutely nothing to do with my change in direction. Ben Johnson and Joe Brady are still my #2 and #3 option. I'm not fond of any of the other experienced candidates outside of Kingsbury, who is #4 on my list.
  14. The short handed goal almost seemed like Mrazek was inviting it. He lifted his leg at just the right time for the puck to go underneath and right into the net. Something really needs to happen there, and soon.
  15. Agreed. If the Cubs land Sasaki, who cares about the Rea signing. And actually, the Rea signing kind of mirrors the Thiass signing. Look at it as an insurance policy in the event other things transpire/don't transpire. The Cubs landed a catcher, making Thiass trade fodder. If Sasaki signs here, they haven't blocked anybody significant if Rea is relegated to long relief. If Sasaki doesn't sign here, they can still trade for a starter. They may already have a deal in place with a team like San Diego depending on how the Sasaki sweepstakes unfold. If Rea was the back end of the rotation starter plan all along and the Ricketts' bank 40m in unused cap money, they deserve all the ire people throw their way. But, we aren't at that point of the offseason to know for sure.
  16. Welcome!
  17. The Bears 2024 salary cap was $260m. The Bears spent $254m+ and had $5m+ to improve the team at the trade deadline if the team was anything similar to a playoff caliber team. They were not a playoff caliber team, so that 5m+ can be applied to next year's cap. It's not that they are cheap. It's that they have been clueless on how to successfully build the team to win.
  18. Apparently. Definitely not how I would like to see this play out.
  19. Not sure how Padres or Giants would look appealing to Sasaki. Facing that Dodgers team several times a year along with being in the same division as the Dodgers would lessen the chances of winning the division for the foreseeable future.
  20. I feel like his gross is overblown because the Bears offense rarely crossed the 50 yard line, forcing long kicks at a disturbingly high number. We can probably all agree that the 4th round designation for a punter was a horrible decision. It's not bad if your roster is so well stocked that you can afford to be wasteful on a punter in the 4th. The Bears were not that.
  21. With the help of the referees, of course. I'm actually picking Detroit to beat the Bills.
  22. Yeah, I think Jalen Carter is a much more impressive disruptor on each play. He commands a lot more attention. But, I'm not arguing that they should have drafted Carter.
  23. Welcome. Oh, and there are better ways to torture yourself than watching a White Sox game.
  24. Yeah. Nothing is leaked, but there seems to be some obvious undertones that he's getting kicked. Of course, there are also undertones that he isn't going anywhere. But, this was a god awful embarrassing season and he isn't worthy of an extension, and some of the better coaching options aren't going to want a lame duck GM in charge of their future. Ben Johnson has pretty much already stated such. He wants stability wherever he goes, if he even leaves Detroit. I'm sad it hasn't already happened. It is only 6:15am, but hell, we are waiting..........
  25. While it felt great to see the Bears get the monkey off their back against GB, the game wasn't fun at all. They played not to lose rather than to win, and that's been Eberflus' theme as a coach, and it seems his understudies didn't learn anything from that. That game sucked. Go out and get real coaching. I'm still in favor of #1- Ben Johnson, #2- Joe Brady and #3 Kliff Kingsbury. I want an offensive minded coach. I don't think you have to have a veteran coach. None of the others in the NFC North are previous head coaches. Get a creative offensive mind who is willing to sling the damn ball.
