  1. Royals are still in the mix for Kuroda as well.
  2. You could also hope for a new ownership group that will come in and clean house.
  3. Yeah, dislike how they do things all you want, but it has brought better results than what the Cubs have done. In 5 years when Lee and Ramirez and Soriano can't get out to field their positions without the use of a cane, Florida will still be sending some very talented YOUNG players out to field theirs. They probably will trade Hanley Ramirez when he becomes expensive. And I fully expect Florida to get at minimum 2 of the best prospects in baseball in return.
  4. Wow. Another organization that would be better off firing their GM.
  5. Sounds like it could be a real circus show watching Braun play the OF. How much time has he even spent in the outfield?
  6. Whoops. I guess I did miss Marquis. But, I tend to skim over anything Marquis anyway. It's my way of pretending like he was never a Cub.
  7. Unfrozen caveman beat reporter? Celebrity gossip columnist? So, if I understand this correctly, Hendry will be going head to head with the New York Post for Damon's services?
  8. So dumping Dempster's 5m will all of a sudden afford the Cubs Miguel Tejada, Brian Roberts, Raul Ibanez and a soon to be very expensive Erik Bedard? The Cubs decided to go big on Ramirez, Lee, Soriano and Zambrano. In doing so, they've made it pretty necessary to go cheap at many positions. There is no way the Cubs could afford to go big at every position unless they completely blew the budget out of the water.
  9. Prior+ to the Rangers for Blalock Send Blalock to the Pirates for McLouth and Marte From what I've read, Pittsburgh doesn't want to block 3b from Neil Walker. As cheaply as this organization is run, I wouldn't find that too shocking.
  10. I'm guessing there are teams that have been asking about Fuld. He's a prototypical lead off hitter in the eyes of many GM's out there, and they probably took notice of his offseason. Labeling him an untouchable is probably stretching things, but I don't want to see them part with him right now unless it's for a significant upgrade. If someone is calling and asking about Fuld, he has more trade value than he did a month ago. Fuld puts up a very respectable OBP, he's dirt cheap, and he's somewhat young.
  11. That would have been Buster Olney who is better at stats then trade rumors. What would the Rangers give for Prior that would be worth anything? Wilkerson? Wilkerson could be had without giving anything up. He's a FA.
  12. Wrong man for the job, as usual. Here's a guy who has a veteran fetish with one of the best farm systems in baseball. By the time he finishes disassembling the farm system and the major league roster of all talent, some other team will admire his work so much, he'll get another GM job somewhere.
  13. No. It's not enough to get him. The Padres owner is usually too busy putting money in his own pocket to notice the going rate for free agents. Thus, he misses out on most everyone. Wasn't their last major FA aquistion Brian Giles, who basically wanted to go there and no where else? LOL @ them thinking 8 million will do it btw As I was saying...... It's actually pretty humurous listening to Padres fans thinking they are going to get all of these free agents year after year. You have to appreciate their loyalty. But yeah, Maddux and Giles wanted to be there otherwise they probably wouldn't be.
  14. They are paying significantly more to basically be the same team. Rivera, Posada and ARod all got significant bumps. Pettitte should hold out for 25m.
  15. It's a conspiracy. Aramis Ramirez last year. Miguel Cabrera this year. Maybe they should go out and sign another outfielder to cheer themselves up. Willits, Anderson, Rivera, Matthews Jr., Vlady, Torii Hunter just isn't enough. I hear Darin Erstad is available. :D
  16. =D> \:D/ Good for Sam. I hope he lands the 5th outfield job this spring.
  17. No. It's not enough to get him. The Padres owner is usually too busy putting money in his own pocket to notice the going rate for free agents. Thus, he misses out on most everyone.
  18. Maybe they cooled on the idea when Pettitte announced he was coming back. They probably figure they can squeeze some other team of a starter without giving up as much in talent.
  19. Yeah, I wouldn't rule out Cleveland. Minnesota doesn't appear to be getting enough back for Santana to be much good in 2008, so they look to slip next year. Cleveland has a lot to offer to get the bat they are looking for. I believe they will get Bay eventually. With Peralta at SS and Asdrubal Cabrera looking good enough, Josh Barfield could be dealt. Andy Marte could be dealt. Franklin Guttierez could be dealt. Lee has been on the trade block. I still like their line up A LOT. Let's just say they get Jason Bay. Sizemore, Cabrera, Martinez, Bay, Hafner, Peralta, Garko, Blake, Michaels Their pitching staff isn't too bad either. Sabathia, Carmona, Westbrook, Byrd and one of Cliff Lee, Adam Miller or Jeremy Sowers.
  20. Seriously, what must Anaheim be thinking about all of this? How much time did they waste working deals to end up with the short end of the stick. That'll teach 'em. :D
  21. I don't understand what Cub fans are fretting about. We got Ascanio. :D
  22. It's still a pretty easy decision either way, in my opinion. Easy decision, but big difference. Crisp makes what? 8m a year? Ellsbury will be a rookie next year at league minimum, and will likely be more productive. But, the big victory is you have Santana facing the Yankees rather than Boston facing Santana. That's huge.
  23. Santana, Beckett, Schilling, Matsuzaka, Buchholz Wow!
  24. Well, considering you also showed your age with this last response, I suppose that is enough about you. Of course, I'm probably older and have likely been to more Rush shows than you. :D I attended three Rush shows this past summer and have been to 13 since 1976, when I was 19. You win, on both fronts. :D
