  1. LOL. Glad someone pointed that out. Self made and marrying into money are certainly not the same. Same result, but different ways of getting there. And Kroenke walked away from a several year lease in St. Louis.
  2. I give them an A. I really didn't think they would open the purse strings for someone like Bregman. I think they did more work to the bullpen than I would have predicted. I'm happy they didn't ship off Nico once again. I feel like they have good SP and BP depth, a solid hitting and fielding roster and and a good bench. This is a strong team to open the season with. I'd be surprised if anyone predicts a team other than the Cubs to win their division.
  3. It would be kinda crazy to have no Chicago or Illinois football teams, but 1 in a town of a population smaller than Peoria IL (Green Bay) and then 2 in Indiana. This same game was played in San Diego. Spanos is a piece of horsefeathers. He didn't just want a downtown football stadium, he wanted the people to pay for the whole thing. That one did not end well, either. But. I believe the people of San Diego made the right choice in not caving to a billionaire's greedy demands. I guess if they do move to Indiana, they can have a really nice practice facility in Arlington Heights. LOL.
  4. That performance was the best I've ever seen in my life.
  5. Proof there is no such thing as a salary cap.
  6. Crosby disrupts offenses all by himself. I'd drool all Summer at the thought of him being added to this defense. But, I like the idea of keeping picks and adding via free agency since Chicago is going to be a place players want to be. Hendrickson or Chubb would be nice complements to what they have now.
  7. How dare you not include flag football, coming soon to an Olympics near you.
  8. I mean, a lot of it really doesn't make sense. In one sport like snowboard halfpipe, you get three chances to put up one good score. They toss the other attempts in the trash like they never happened. Meanwhile, that kid in the free skate last night doesn't get a do over. I'm still watching the prime time NBC broadcasts, but half the time, social media has already told me who got a medal. Of course, if I say something to my wife, now she's pissed that I didn't just sit there with my mouth shut. LOL. I managed to keep it quiet for last night's tank on skates.
  9. This one reminds me of Borat asking "What is this? (chez)."
  10. That's where I would be at, also. I get that the roster is at risk of massive turnover, but it wouldn't be that hard to extend some of those guys before the season was over. It won't be that hard to bring some of them back with signings after the season. I never imagined that Gallen might be an option given the current glut of starters. I wouldn't let a 1 year opt out stop what could be their best shot at playoffs right now.
  11. The good news is they do have a place to play until 2034. Seems they can build a stadium in 4 years. At least 4 more years of fun winter football. I'll take it.
  12. Most of those trades involved decent players leaving and draft picks coming back. It's expected that they are worse now.
  13. Not always. Stones, The Who, McCartney by himself, Tom Petty just to name a few old artists that performed. Mornin' Joe just laid it all out. It was a capitalist move by the NFL. They had games in Spain and Mexico this year. They want that Latino demographic to join in on the NFL fun. Bad Bunny is the #1 streamed artist in the world right now. Perfect time for him to do a show. I'm not a fan of Bad Bunny, but I rank his show among the best ever. I think the controversy this has stirred was necessary because we are possibly going to need to sink all the way to the bottom before this country can begin to heal. Might as well piss off the MAGA's to the point their heads explode.
  14. While I agree, the problem was that Berti was NOT the final bench piece on last year's roster. They also had Gage Workman and Vidal Brujan on that same roster.
  15. I never understood how the Vikings just let him walk after that historic season. My best friend is a Vikings fan, and his claim is they couldn't afford him due to the cap. My argument would be that you make room in the cap to afford him. The Chiefs haven't been able to afford Mahomes for the last 3+ years and he's still their QB.
  16. Even funnier is apparently Trump posted on Truth Social that the Super Bowl halftime show was brutal, which means he watched it instead of the alternative show.
  17. Still several hours of trade deadline left to fill out the roster.
  18. My entire Facebook feed couldn't stop talking about Shadeur Sanders being a Pro Bowler. Weird. I haven't watched or cared about a Pro Bowl in at least 4 full decades. Why is this even news?
  19. I don't really see a reason to give him reps at 1b. From what's been glossed so far, Busch has earned at bats from LHP going forward. Against a tough lefty, maybe you give him a day off to rest or be ready for late inning PH duties/defense when Riley gets a rare start. Long is just a phone call away if Busch has to miss some time.
  20. Do you even watch the games?
  21. A lot of that was Dusty's doing also. He loved batting crap hitters at the top of the order instead of OBP monsters. What was that old saying about Dusty not liking guys taking walks? Alex Gonzalez led the team in plate appearances in the 2 hole in 2003.
  22. I don't think Hoerner in the final year of his deal is worth equal to what Tucker cost for his one year. But, I do believe that's what the Cubs should be asking for. Maybe more. If teams don't like it, they certainly don't have to make a deal.
  23. Wow. The list of names here is amazing. So many forgotten "future heroes". I'd have to say most of my favorites have already been mentioned. I'm sure a few more will pop up that I've also completely forgotten about by now.
  24. Yeah, I'm not understanding his post at all. I'm already super tired of the finger pointing for a team that preseason had next to no predictions of playing post season football. It's Ben Johnson's rookie year as a HC. It's Caleb's first year playing with an NFL caliber coaching staff. Dude is acting like the window just closed. It hasn't even been fully opened yet.
