  1. One that values peak-year dominance more than longevity I guess. PS - The polls start today. http://gatewayredbirds.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=15
  2. Kent is more than all of those people combined Kent is the lovechild of Mia Hamm and Nomar. Wrong again. Kent just IS.
  3. Every World Series winner ever has been lucky.
  4. I drank 4 pitchers of beer in two and a half hours last night. All while kicking ass at darts. For a while anyway.
  5. BTW, list: Pitchers (16) Roger Clemens Walter Johnson Christy Mathewson Greg Maddux Warren Spahn Steve Carlton Cy Young Tom Seaver Pedro Martinez Sandy Koufax Lefty Grove Bob Gibson Randy Johnson Pete Alexander Don Sutton Gaylord Perry Hitters (48) Babe Ruth Ted Williams Lou Gehrig Barry Bonds Stan Musial Ty Cobb Tris Speaker Manny Ramirez Rogers Hornsby Frank Thomas Mark McGwire Mickey Mantle Joe DiMaggio Jeff Bagwell Mel Ott Willie Mays Rafael Palmeiro Hank Aaron Frank Robinson Mike Schmidt Willie Stargell Eddie Mathews Harmon Killebrew Sammy Sosa Ken Griffey Jr. Jimmie Foxx Gary Sheffield Honus Wagner Albert Pujols Todd Helton Jim Thome Vladimir Guerrero Alex Rodriguez Albert Belle Carlos Delgado Joe Jackson Mike Piazza Reggie Jackson Willie McCovey Ernie Banks Eddie Murray Dave Winfield Carl Ystrzemski Andre Dawson Cal Ripken Johnny Mize Lou Brock If you don't think he belongs, who isn't on there that should be?
  6. Over at the Cardinals rip off of NSBB, we are having a greatest player ever poll. A few posters are against including Albert Pujols in the field of 64 saying he hasn't done enough. I said he should be included because of his historic start, his multiple awards, WS ring, historic rate stats and already impressive counting stats. Awards and "clutchiness" may not matter when evaluating a player, but Albert already has enough moments (Lidge homerun, WS ring and most walk offs since '01) that I think he warrants consideration on the list. A poster said that if we conducted a poll on another site that he wouldn't be included in the field of the 64 greatest players of all time list. So how about it? Would you put him on the list? BTW - Feel free to join just to participate if you wish. http://gatewayredbirds.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=15
  7. Don't count on either. Pruitt, Randle, Frazier, etc. Basically all but Carter and McBride are back. Illinois Football is on the way up too. You really think a 2-10 team is gonna beat an 8-4 team when we return like 16 starters? Remember, in college football, juniors and seniors win games NOT true freshman. No I do not think Illinois will win. I just said the football program was on the way up. All I said was to not count on either win because Illinois will likely be favored to win in basketball and MAY have a chance to win in football. Maybe it won't be a very good chance, but they will be, as I said, on the way up.

  9. GO ILLINI! 7 IN A ROW! Well crap. It does look like Mizzou has a good coach and a vicious system. They will be good in the future as long as he can recruit. If Brian Randle was still hurt, Illinois would have lost by 15. He was everywhere.
  10. I bet I hate Rich McBride more than any of the Mizzou fans here, even after those free throws.
  11. Randle is everywhere, I love it.
  12. That's generally how it works. A lot of real guitar players are AWFUL when they first pick up the game... and thefore they despise it.... good times, haha. I have yet to see a single case of this. My roommate has played for 5 or 6 years and blows at Guitar Hero. It's not that I don't think he could be good at it, it's that everyone blows at first and for some reason real guitar players think they should be good right away and give up when they aren't.
  13. i hope daisuke and jd drew both have amazing seasons but ortiz sucks and varitek and schilling and papelbon all get hurt and miss the whole season. If that happened, he would try to ignore the fact that he was ever critical of Matsuzaka or JD. He is good at revisionism.
  14. I hate when teams can't close out their game when my team's game is up next on the same channel. For fantasy purposes I now demand a 3 and out followed by a 90 yard TD pass from Grossman to Dez Clark. Yes they've already done amazing for me today, but I'm going up against a RB combo of Willie Parker and LDT so I'm greedy.
  15. This is, quite possibly, the most useless and insignificant information I've ever seen in professional journalism. Agree with you 100%. I was reading the article when I got to that line and I'm thinking, "%@%##$$ does that have to do with anything?". But then I realized it was a Muskat article and everything became clear :) Holy crap.
  16. Wheaton is NAIA, no?
  17. Don't get down on Bulls fans. The attitudes you are describing are the same in every NBA venue.
  18. Thanks, T-Mac.
  19. Coke is the best. Pepsi is gross. If this was legal however, I would drink it forsaking all other sodas. http://colombia.indymedia.org/uploads/2005/12/coca-sek.jpg
  20. FYI - Haren is being dangled for trades.
  21. This deal is basically Hirsh for Jennings. The suckastros still got abused.
  22. Because he is a bad play-by-play guy? Perspective? Let's just say that....out of all the announcers who are homers towards the home team (like Scully, Santo, S. Caray) Hawk Harrelsonis definately the worst, and he doesn't even try and hide it. If you listen to a White Sox game (trust me the headache of hearing Hawk Harrelson voice will go away after a good night of drinking) there are several times during a game (not just once, but several times, mind you) that there will be "silence" in the booth between Hawk and DJ. And during this silence, as a viewer, you just get this awkward feeling. Hawk doesn't know how to call a game, or even carry a conversation during the game. And the fact that the White Sox haven't fired his sorry excuse of an broadcaster, is beyond mindboggling. I sat through these games, so I know how absolutely loathable that douche is: Link Link
  23. Wainright, Ray King and Marquis. Good deal for both teams.
