  1. your very own Chicago Cubs have 2 or 3 guys who could have made that throw to 3rd. he's got a good arm, but he's not on his own level Lol, Bob. Rick's arm is elite and I would be surprised if even Fukudome could outdo him.
  2. There is a 90% chance I'm going to the US/Argentina game in New York next month.
  3. It's kind of unprecedented. It follows an organizational directive set forth this spring. I love it, but I don't think it is as easy of all the pitchers going "Oh wow, really? I'm not supposed to walk people?" and the hitters going "What's that? Not making outs is good?" I'd love it if it holds up all year, but I don't think it will. Especially the low walk rate with our starters.
  4. He thrived in the break in college. I'd give him a shot. Why? Joe Johnson, Quentin Richardson and Leandro Barbosa thrived. BG would do well with as many open three's and as little d he would have to play. I disagree. I think he'd thrive and with D'Antoni's system you need as many outside shooters as you can get. Deng could be an animal in this offense as well.
  5. One inning of good offense in three games and you should have swept? Hmm... Please keep hoping for the pixie dust to work. We gave away the first game and anyone who was watching knows it. wolf is right. i think he completely understands that the cardinals aren't as good as they've been playing. but at the same time, it's not like the cubs played brilliantly against the cards and got unlucky. That's all I was getting at. Not sure how I get called the homer when someone who's team had one good inning just lost 2 of 3 games and he thinks they could have swept. Pot-kettle and all that. I admire your ability to call people out without knowing anything about what they say or believe. My belief that the Cardinals are at best an 85 win team is a recent one. If you had asked me before the season I would have told you they were doomed to lose at least 85 and could conceivably lose 90+. These early wins are all wins in the back. If they play like I expected them to play in the preseason from here on out (81 wins +/- 10, more likely -10) they'll be around an 85 win team. The reason for such a huge +/- is because there are so many unknowns on the team. Right now those unknowns are all positives which isn't going to be the case at the end of the season. As I have posted in this very thread (nice critical reading comprehension skills, btw) they are getting incredibly lucky right now, with ground balls specifically. Basically, they are hitting them where they ain't and the other team is hitting them where they are. Those two things will balance out because right now it's benefiting the Cardinals at historically unprecedented levels. It's going to be a struggle for this team to be above .500. I think they are a lot more likely to do that now than I did before the season, but that has nothing to do with blind optimism or raised expectations. It has more to do with the wins we have in the bank already and the fact that Adam Kennedy's ld% is in line with his career norms, Kyle Lohse is pitching to levels more in line with his first 3 seasons development than last season and that Albert's elbow scuttle in the preseason was everything I thought it was, sensationalized old news.
  6. The long season really took it's toll on Clint. As did the coaching change. He needs another season or two before he goes somewhere bigger.
  7. One inning of good offense in three games and you should have swept? Hmm...
  8. Deuce just signed a two year extension with Fulham. Michael Bradley got sent off in the 39th minute of the second leg of the Champions league playoff against Ajax. Kind of an ignominious ending to his last game with Heerenveen.
  9. Blanco's seed, son. Jk. Their defense is solid and that's with two potential all stars on the bench. They have a good keeper and they have some underrated, very good offensive guys like Frankowski and Thorrington. Rolfe is a contributor and Barrett has his (mls) moments, then of course there is Mr. White.
  10. just stop it. Hey now, that was supposed to be for your benefit. Edit - Guess what wekse, my man? Now you can order Bernie's BEST OF book!! https://www.thepost-dispatchstore.com/ProductDetail.cfm?PID=1187
  11. You wouldn't expect Mulder to make a negative impact and Carpenter to make a positive impact as long as they are pitching? I do.
  12. Villa better be getting some dough with that. A Gerrard-Barry mf would be rock solid. Also, yes, Babel needs to play more. Osorio doing his best Arena impression? Yes, this. Europe please Spain ftw. Villarreal or Madrid, plz. I could live with Sevilla. Also, if Fulham somehow avoids the drop again, I'd believe in miracles.

  15. Yeah I'm not happy. Hittsfeld is losing the locker room on his way out and the players aren't getting excited for a UEFA Cup. Whatever. Yeah but they pretty much already have the Bundesliga wrapped up, so you will get some champions league football next year. Also it is what you get cause i am still upset about the game yesterday I'd choose Bayern over Chelsea, definitely. If that makes you feel any better. I've felt throughout the entire tournament they were mailing it in. Just a vibe that they thought the UEFA Cup was below them (which it really is). This transfer period will be interesting. I think they need a talismanic midfield captain (like Ballack :( ) to rally the troops in big games. This squad is just too talented to be this inconsistent.

  17. Giuseppi Rossi may be getting a new strike partner. Villareal wants Jozy I think this would be a fanf'ingtastic transfer for Jozy. He'd get playing time and be on a very good team in the Champions League. It's pretty much ideal. I hope he makes the suitcases course to Villarreal.
  18. http://deadspin.com/385870/another-one-of-clemens-part+time-ladies-strikes-a-pose Another affair comes to light. Not a juicy one, though.
  19. did you happen to catch the part where it said this began when she was 15? By "this" their friendship began. So far no one, Clemens, McCready, or her father have admitted that they slept together when she was 15. If you are going to believe McCready when she said they did have an affair after she was 18, you should believe her when she says they did not have sex at 15. It makes for a good story, albeit one with no proof. i'd still like to know what a 28 year old guy is doing hanging out with a 15 year old girl. Clearly the only thing hanging out were Rocket's balls. Oh my that's graphic.
  20. AAHHHHH Seriously I don't know what is going on. Freakin extra time that I can't watch! Damn this job! Congrats to Frank Lampard after what has probably been the most stressful week of his life. That's awesome.
