  1. Well one of those "dudes" averaged a 14/10 and over four offensive rebounds per game during the first three-peat, which obviously makes him a player of no consequence. Horace Grant was the definition of replaceable. He had nothing to do with winning or not winning those championships. All I said was that I didn't think a team could win without someone inside, which I should have clarified to mean someone that could at least play defense and rebound, even if they couldn't score. Then by your definition pretty much every team in NBA history has "inside presence" which makes your not being able to think of a champion without an inside presence pointless.
  2. I know becoming an NBA fan just because you read Sex Drugs and Cocoa Puffs in college and became the world's biggest Chuck Klosterman fan leaves you at a distinct disadvantage, but this is a Chicago-centric board, so try to remember who Michael Jordan was when you're posting about the league. Having some dudes who played C or PF isn't the classic definition of "inside presence" when discussing NBA champions.
  3. i give up I feel awesome for sticking to Cleveland this entire time even though I didn't believe it.
  4. Unless you ever uttered the sentence, "I think this Dalibor Bagaric guy has huge upside. He's like a young Kukoc," you're not a real Bulls fan. Btw, the JA Adande stuff about the Bulls choking their presentation is garbage. Consensus still is, and really always has been, 1 Cavs, 2 Bulls, 3 Heat, 4 Nets, 5 Knicks.
  5. Even better. Now let's hope Lebron comes to Chicago or goes to rot in NY or NJ. If he goes to NJ he's not going to rot. At least not on the court. LeBron + Lee with the Nets makes them a top 3 team in the east. They'd have some serious size matchup advantages.
  6. It obviously hinges on what exactly Derrick's next step is. I'm guessing they're around a 50-53 win team next season.
  7. That was pre-Amare and the Parker/Melo talk.
  8. Fyi, Chuck Davies started and played 45 in Sochaux preseason friendly against some Swiss team.
  9. THE FLYING MULLET DELIVERS
  10. What does that mean? Going to a Knicks game is like going to a circus. It's for watching the crowd as much as watching the game, and they are all about the non-basketball product. What is "pure basketball" about it? Full disclosure, I've never been to MSG. I'm just regurgitating what other people such as Bill Simmons and Ric Bucher say. If you've been and you're saying it's full of t shirt guns and mascots and cheer leaders and a screaming emcee, then I'll take your word for it. Just fyi, Jay Z lives in Greenwich.
  11. A relevant Knicks team is awesome for the game. They have the best pure basketball in-game experience (not talking about the on-court product) in terms of none of the typical stadium nonsense. I'm happy for Knicks fans.
  12. It very clearly was not up to them.

  14. NSBB momentum/weird logic.
  15. Sounds like Clint needs to learn some Italian. http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/juventus/?action=read&idnotizia=24738 Bad translation:
  16. I make a concerted effort to watch the Knicks as little as possible, but in the few games I've seen, I wasn't impressed.
  17. Boozer is only two years older than Lee. He's better with his back to the basket. He's not an inflated D'Antoni producer. I'd rather have Boozer.
  18. Derrick Rose will never be the best player on a champion. That's a problem when the 5 or 6 players in the league are about to be or already have been locked up to long-term contracts for other teams.
  19. Lol, I forgot about that. I'll take a look. In almost but not quite a yank news, Yura Movsisyan scored 2, set up 1 and drew a penalty in a Europa League game vs some Luxembourgian team.
  20. I want a new winner.
  21. This has always been the most likely scenario and I'm not sure why anyone thought otherwise. Paxson did his job. He put us in position to be players in the sweepstakes. Unfortunately, the deck has always been stacked due to the Bird Rule and Chris Bosh's desire to team up with one of Wade or LeBron. Get ready for Boozer and Carmelo rumors, people.
  22. Wouldn't that force out Gooch? I think it's one signing per year, and Gooch has Belgish citizenship and holds an EU passport as well. The big threat to Clint going to Milan is they're looking at Keisuke Honda too. Honda would probably be more expensive.
  23. If Landon Donovan Jr. is going to be wearing the Three Lions then it's only fair that Christiano Ronaldo Jr. suits up for us. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/soccer/world-cup-2010/07/04/ronaldo.son.ap/index.html So how young is too young to cap tie? I'm thinking next year's Gold Cup. Edit - this link has a pic: http://deadspin.com/5579751/
