I seriously hope not. That's the kind of club that would lose you in the shuffle if you aren't on form all the time. Too many similar player and ownership too willing to pay to replace you. Everton, please.

So apparently it's down to Besiktas and Ajax for Jozy. Ajax wants a loan, Besiktas will buy and Villarreal wants to sell, not loan. Also, Yura Movsisyan scored in Randers' league opener.

Ives is reporting a Blanco/Nery Castillo combo which would prove that the Fire are going out of their way to alienate me. On the plus side, it greatly increases my odds of someday punching Castillo in the face.

That's not my point. I agree it's not ideal. My point is, what's a better idea? Golden goal/sudden death is not. It's been tried, there's a reason they changed.

No. It was soccer played at a very high level. If you didn't like it, then stop making the effort; it's not for you. There are always going to be flaws in anything.

I'm the one taking criticism personally? Calm down, cranky pants. If you don't understand something, it's reasonable for someone who does understand it to think you don't know what you're talking about. It's not a hard concept. I'm not going to lecture you about why Jersey sucks. All I've ever done is drive through and watch a few episodes of Jersey Shore. I'm not qualified.

Actually it's the opposite of that. We want criticism to come from an educated point of view instead of someone who just takes a quick glance and draws conclusion. So basically, jersey is Joe Morgan. If he knew a lot about the sport and still drew the same conclusion, I'd listen.

We weren't criticizing the criticism. We criticize the attitude behind it. It's drive-by opinion making without caring about the reasoning behind the thing. Just like I'd criticize some foreigner who went on about why baseball sucks because there's foul territory unlike cricket. Basically what I'm saying, and what TT is saying, if you don't care about a sport (not just a sport either, it applies to music, politics etc) then we don't care about your opinion. It's like not liking rap and then complaining about the new Jay Z album because it's just noise or talking over a beat. Your opinion is ignorant and biased, so therefore invalid.

Not to say the sport is perfect, nothing is, but nobody cares whether or not you or some unquantifiable segment of "Americans" can get past concepts foreign to you. How on earth so?

Same here. The same evolutionary refinement that applies to other sports that have been played for decade upon decade with significant fan interest and giant revenues applies to soccer and sometimes Americans don't understand that concept.

I never claimed it was possible to prove. Nobody knows what Pippen would have been like if Jordan didn't exist, or if Pippen played in Seattle. Kinda sucks for Scottie. How does it suck for Scottie? He won 6 titles. He's a legend. I don't think he'd trade that in to be Jason Kidd or Dirk Nowitski.

I don't think I was giving that impression. I'm a hockey fan. I was just pointing out the difference between the two sports and why it makes sense that one would do away with the shootout in the playoffs and one wouldn't.

Says the hockey fan? Regular season PKs are a new thing that most hockey fans hate. But the important games are decided by sudden death until somebody dies OT. Soccer used to do the "golden goal" (sudden death) format, but it doesn't work. There are 3 subs a game as opposed to 3 minute shifts. People can't just run in perpetuity. The longer you play, the less likely a goal is. PK's are fine. There's no reason why you can't add a sub in OT. And hockey players' legs are usually jello by the 2nd OT. It's not like short shifts means these guys aren't killing themselves out there. I don't understand your point. Are you trying to say there's no difference in the exertion of hockey players and soccer players? Completely different kinds of conditioning.
