  1. Me and my girlfriend are very much in love. I stay on the phone with her all night while she's in chemo. Have I ever met her? No, but that's not important. I love her very much. What's that? I told national media we met at the ND v Stanford game? [expletive]. Uh...I mean...BIG GULPS HUH? WELP. SEE YA LATER.
  2. That would be a shame. Pro sports is long overdue for producing an out icon and having the first major gay athlete in one of the big 4 sports be a liar would be shameful, but probably fitting in the context of sports culture and it's alpha-male homophobic past and how it pressures gays to go to extreme measures to hide their sexuality.
  3. Twitter is awesome right now.
  4. Perfect example of why ND fans suck. I emailed this to a ND grad work friend. It's a longish read. He replies back less than two minutes later, "If this turns out to be true, I'll be disappointed." If? How about reading the whole story, dip. Don't just look at something you don't like, immediately dismiss it and attempt to steer the narrative in a hypothetical direction when it's clearly not a hypothetical situation. That's how Paterno, Bonds, McGwire and Lance Armstrong happens.
  5. Everyone knows Scal is on twitter, right? Cool.
  6. Wonder what the draft implications will turn out to be.
  7. For people who wouldn't normally click a ND link, this is a crazy story about how Teo's dead girlfriend is fake.
  8. It's weird to see a club that won it's league in the first two months of the season and is probably co-favs for the Champions League title to announce something like this mid-season. That said, this is either going to be as successful as his Barca run or a spectacular failure filled with boardroom tension, arrogant Bayern legends spouting off in the press and Pep leaving in a huff to coach Spain or something.
  9. Marv Levy, bruh. Alouttes love the jews!
  10. Since it's super dumb to argue with you about this because we have no information or context to answer your questions or assuage your doubts, I am curious as to what he would have to accomplish before you conceded he was a good hire. Obviously I'm not saying it was a good or bad hire myself. That's TBD. Not you specifically, but all of the haters out there.
  11. Lovie was fired because he didn't fit Emery's vision for the team, not because 10-6 "is not good enough." The league rewards offense. Lovie proved his ineptitude at hiring and/or overseeing offensive coordinators each and every season he was in charge.
  12. Fingers crossed, Stu is back to first team action.
  13. The title of the guy at that lottery was something like "assistant vp of ticket sales and fan relations" or some [expletive]. That's how little chance they had. They sent some mid-level guy who was just psyched to get a comp'd hotel room in NY.
  14. Jimmy Johnson appreciates semantics, almost as much as jersey.
  15. I'm not sure why you'd expect people to "see" your nonsensically subjective view of the guy. Because there is enough shared general knowledge of NFL football and sports on this board among even the dumbest members that makes a reasonable expectation of individual subjective views being similar enough to "see" different points of view, well, reasonable. Man you like typing a lot of words that say nothing. Did you turn off your text to speech function?

  17. Sound? You have no idea if that is true. As far as we can tell it has only been superficially thorough. All we know is that he's shown an interest in more than a dozen names (many of them very mediocre). We know Emery has a very limited NFL resume, most recently in one of the worst run organizations in the game. We know his college resume is far from impressive. We know he showed early promise last offseason then came up well short of actually accomplishing an upgrade. I don't see anything I would describe as "sound" so far. He had a press conference that made the media happy, since he said a lot of words. And he's talked to lots of people. The soundness of this process remains very much in doubt and the results could be very bad. I think his offseason acquisitions and personnel decisions last year were good and I think making the decision to fire Lovie Smith when they were still solidly in playoff contention regardless of the regular season's outcome would indicate someone who has identified what intangible factors and vision he wants from his head coach. That's so much clearer, logical and methodical than anything a Bears GM has done in my lifetime that I'm not sure how you can feel otherwise, but ok.
  18. 10 years ago. That sentence also could have described Martz (except for the pass-protection conscious part). So, what, he moved to Canada and all of a sudden was like, "[expletive] Quarterbacks, dog. I've had enough."?
  19. I gotta get a Rapinoe Lyon kit.
  20. lol Emery's processes have been more sound than any Bears GM I've seen. If he hires this Treastman guy feel free to freak out while everyone else reserves judgement.
  21. Agudelo to Celtic almost done - http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11781/8390695/Celtic-are-closing-in-on-the-signing-of-United-States-international-Juan-Agudelo-from-Chivas-USA
  22. wait, this is a thing? Uh... someone is actually promoting this as an idea? It's non-FIFA so it would basically be an amateur exhibition team so US or Canadian internationals could suit up for Cascadia without affecting their respective international eligibility, but yes, it's getting off the ground.
  23. Any US or Canadian players who suit up for the Cascadia "National" team are dumb. What a joke. Hey hipsters, you're not Catalonia. You've never been a sovereign state. GFY.
