for some reason, i had it in my head that this girl was in hawaii the whole time following the accident, while getting leukemia treatment, etc. then i realized she was allegedly in california. i also didn't realize the accident apparently occurred 8 months before she died of cancer. so the love of his life almost dies in a car accident and begins undergoing treatment for leukemia over the span of 8-9 months and te'o doesn't go see her. and apparently the car accident occurs 8 months before she "died of cancer," which means it was in january, which means te'o had nothing but time on his hands after the 2011 football season was over. and he doesn't go visit her. sociopath seems more likely than gullible to me at this point. or [expletive] boyfriend ever. Either way there is clearly something wrong with him. Best case scenario for him, he's a complete flake who is able to believe he's deeply in love with someone who is dying and he's never met or maybe he doesn't believe he loved her and he was just gung ho to use what he thought was her tragic illness to further his Heisman cause. So he's either a pathetic weirdo or a monumental [expletive]. These are the best case scenarios for people who are hoping he's not complicit with the hoax.

Is the bit that you're talking to yourself? Help me out here. The bit is omc, nuts, and others earlier claiming te'o never spoke to her and that he should have figured it out when she didn't speak to him. Even if you ignored the presser today, which is dumb, but even if you did, the story has always been about their long conversations at night and falling asleep on the phone and him calling her first thing in the morning, etc, etc. Ignoring basic facts to draw these conclusions makes you look stupid. Doing so and calling me stupid makes you an ass.* *not you, wolfie, "you" the people that are doing that. Oh no, I am ABSOLUTELY doing that. What you think the truth is doesn't matter, we don't have enough facts to determine if he lied and was a victim or lied and was complicit. What we do know is that you have reacted like a crazy.

@dan_bernstein: Talked to a source who says #Swarbrick's lone goal was to insulate #ND and put any inconsistencies on #Teo, no matter how it came off. Also, Swarbrick reiterated that it wasn't THAT windy, just kinda breezy and the scissor lift fell because of the devil.

He's a stupid religious nut who has no idea how to deal with being gay and so he did something really, really stupid. There's plenty reason. And yeah, go ahead and keep acting like anyone's reaction to this has amounted to much more emotionally besides "this is hilarious." I'm not ready to infer that. It's certainly possible. What I'm saying is that as a neutral observer who doesn't really care about Te'o or ND one way or the other, it's circumstantially much more likely he's involved. Occam's Razor. Thing is, even if he's genuinely a victim, it doesn't change the fact that everyone who believed he's totally innocent are wrong to believe it right now. Such obvious bias is almost funny. I haven't seen one smart non-ND fan come out strong in his defense.

By the way, all the PSU fans who got deservedly ridiculed for being naive about their dumb football program can at least rest easy knowing incredible bias exists in all these dumb, big-time college sports fan bases. Never fails that college sports create the most loyal, easily duped dipshits in all of sports.

So it was a gang of people duping him? What a load of [expletive] [expletive]. MAYBE if there was seemingly some kind of effort to blackmail him or something, but instead we're supposed to just believe it was an epic prank multiple people were in on...and it was a prank they only did for their own benefit and they didn't reveal it to anyone at all? Even the smartest, funniest, most dick-headed secret Internet community couldn't pull off this con, and I know we're not all unfamiliar with a community like that. Even IF I were able to accept all of the unbelievable facts that would contribute to Te'o being a victim, I don't think even the best trolls could pull this off. Like seriously, no one complicit sees all the coverage of his dead girl and has even the modicum of humanity it would take to create a fake gmail account to tell him he should probs ease up on the tasteless pimping of his dead GF en route to a doomed heisman run? No one has even a shred of a conscience in the group. Not his bud? Not the fake girl stand in? Not anyone they told?

I think that might actually be worse. It would only perpetuate this culture of meathead that there is in sports and make it even more difficult for gay people to come out. The overall media storm would be pretty monumental. His combine is going to be media-obnoxious. It's not necessarily a sports issue. I'm not sure about cultural stigmas of his people, but a gay Mormon at a Catholic university would be a LOT of pressure for someone to deal with. It is a sports issue. The gay world needs their Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson is revered because of his strength and pride. This is not strength and pride. This is shameful and cowardly if he's in on it.
