  1. YEDLIN DREW A PK
  2. 4-3. Deuce with the brace. Been a monster today.
  3. 4-2 Timb's. Deuce just put one on a platter for Obafemi Martens and he blew it. Would've made this match even crazier. Sounders showing some life, though. Deuce playing with 2005 levels of scowl like he's constantly smelling a fart.
  4. Portland v Seattle on NBC Sports is shaping up to be a classic. 2-2 36 minutes in. Fast, physical and the crowd is deafening.
  5. I think Goodson starting is a real possibility. Jurgen has always liked him. We really felt the absence of Zusi's defense in the second half. His D is exactly why I think he's a lock at RMF and we'll see Fabian Johnson at right back vs Portugal.
  6. Solid 3-2 win. Glad I was there to see it.
  7. Michael Bradley: Pretty good. Mexico very preoccupied with Deuce, Beckerman doing what Jones doesn't-staying back to cover and Mike has devoured every inch between those guys. Master class.
  8. I'm all jacked up. Work has been difficult to endure today.
  9. Haha pretty hilarious april fool's day joke, Nike!
  10. I just know that he sucked at Chivas (everyone does) and Philip Lahm blasted him during the Klinsmann regime at Bayern.
  11. Klinsmann shuffled Martin Vasquez out of the senior team coaching staff, promoted Tab Ramos to his top assistant and hired Berti Vogts as an adviser and scout. There's always been a lot of talk about Vasquez's high-level tactical naivety at Bayern, with the US and of course his flame out at Chivas USA as manager. Sounds like this could be a sound decision leading up to scouting world cup opponents.
  12. Real Salt Lake dismantled Toronto. Poor Mike Bradley on an island surrounded by Beckerman, Gil & Morales was just not fair. That trio, if healthy, is going to play everyone off the park this year. KC might be able to goon it up against them, but as far as pure possession goes, that team is fantastic.
  13. If he and Jurgen are telling the truth about no world cup guarantee, I think we'll see a lot of him. Not a lot of time for an audition otherwise and I guarantee Bayern released him because Jurgen promised it would be worth the trip halfway across the world. I've made that Phoenix-Chicago-Munich trip. It's no joke.
  14. When was the last time the primarily MLS-based roster was better than the Euro-based roster? 2002?
  15. It would probably change for the positive. Sponsors would pressure the Glazers to spend heavily. Especially Chevy. They paid too much when they were elite. Let alone during a Liverpool-like spell of mediocrity.
  16. It gets into sketchy personal territory. Who can dictate what someone feels is their identity? If it's blood, technically I'm more "German" than any of the half-German players on the team and none of my relatives have been born in Germany since the early 1900's. I would never claim to be German though. There's going to be a cynical, business decision behind some switches like Johannsson. There are some practical switches for players who wouldn't make their home national team like Fabian Johnson and Danny Williams. That said, if they're eligible, who am I to say they don't feel as American as me? They probably don't, but how much does that matter and how can you measure that? I think the system works fine as-is and ultimately we need to develop our own players as well as Germany does if we want to become a world power. Until then, we poach who we can. It's weird when you see someone wearing the us jersey and then hear their heavy accent in an interview, but I can get over weird if they play all out like Jermaine Jones does.
  17. Jurgen is the [expletive] man.
  18. Julian Green's switch is filed. He will be eligible vs Mexico.
  19. Deuce suspended two games for his ball tap. His only game action leading up to the WC will be internationals, so he better knock that rust off quick. Bad stuff.
  20. Fantastic Champions League draw.
  21. In the past Germany has been pretty non-plussed when we poach duals. Not this time, apparently. http://www.mlssoccer.com/worldcup/2014/news/article/2014/03/19/world-cup-german-soccer-federation-pursued-julian-green-personal-call-joachi
  22. No. He accepted a call-up to Germany's u-19's which means he has to file his one-time switch from Ethiopia, he's not yet a US citizen though his parents have permanent resident status so as soon as he suits up for the German youth team, as I understand it, he's gone.
  23. He can't play until he's 18, which is in a few months iirc.
  24. Green analysis: http://www.americansoccernow.com/articles/reality-check-julian-green-and-the-u-s-national-team This is something to look forward to:
  25. Aww man. http://www.soccerbyives.net/2014/03/cherundolo-battling-injuries.html Steve Cherundolo is retiring. Legend.
