  2. I'm not at all sure how accurate this is, but it's my best guess. I know we have people here who are fluent in the language, or at least have a better knowledge of it than I do, so if I'm wrong please correct me, since I want to make sure I have it right as much as anyone else. http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r71/bcvm22/sigzeon/gocubsjp.png
  3. I don't know much Japanese, but here's Kosuke's name as it's written in the language: http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r71/bcvm22/sigzeon/FukudomeKosuke.png (FUKU DOME KO SUKE) Save, enlarge, print on signs, banners, t-shirts, flags, headbands, whatever you like.
  4. I look forward to seeing what he does if he's given a consistent rotation spot rather than relief outings of varying lengths every few days or so.
  5. He's going to select the final number of pages in this thread as his jersey number. I estimate he'll be wearing No. 200 by the time all is said and done.
  6. That was July 1, 2004 for the record.
  7. I have to imagine the conversation would start with Billingsley/LaRoche/Kemp + some guys from the lower levels of the Dodger system and go from there.
  8. If you ordered a custom-made KOSUKE 1 t-shirt (from something like this) then I imagine you'll get exactly what you ordered. If you ordered the "official" jersey shirt from a retailer (this) then you'll get whatever the official product ends up being, which appears to be FUKUDOME. Not merchandise related, but Muskat provides us with this gem: I don't think new outfielder Kosuke Fukudome will be attending the Cubs convention. He is working out in Japan, and according to the Chunichi News, he has named his new son Hayato. "You know, Chicago is called the 'Windy City,'" Fukudome told Japanese media. "'Hayato' means windy, healthy, fast and first boy. That's why I named him."
  9. Cub World says their orders for the shirts won't ship until the 21st; if the merchandise deal was just completed a few days ago, it makes sense that the shirts wouldn't hit shelves, proverbial or otherwise, for a couple of weeks yet.
  10. He'd have to fight Ward in a cage match for the number. My money would be on D. Ward.
  11. I apologize for bumping a month old thread, but it appears this particular mini-issue has been resolved. It was in question in the first place because despite what we (I) predicted about him wearing KOSUKE on his jersey and then his jersey at the press conference having FUKUDOME on it, Kosuke will not be an official member of the player's association until he first sets foot on an MLB baseball diamond. As such, Majestic Athletic needed to have a deal in place with him and his representation before they could mass-produce any merchandise. It appears such has been completed and it appears he will indeed wear FUKUDOME on the back. Both Wrigleyville Sports and Cub World are now displaying t-shirts with FUKUDOME 1 on the back, and up until yesterday, Wrigleyville Sports displayed both possible variations with the explanation I just gave above, alongside a promise to display the correct outcome once the matter was resolved. Additionally, Kosuke's name has been added to the custom jersey script at the MLB.com Shop, use of which to select a custom Kosuke Fukudome jersey yields a FUKUDOME 1 uniform. That answers that, I guess. I needs me a t-shirt.
  12. These are always neat, but I could never imagine paying what I imagine the cost to be for one. Funny how Soriano is portrayed wearing a jersey he's never actually worn in a game.
  13. Have they announced the players/other guys scheduled to attend yet? I don't think I've seen such a release anywhere.
  14. I think the last paragraph tells the tale right now. "He's definitely a possibility to come to the USA, assuming he wants to and Nippon agrees to post him and some MLB team puts up the monumental amount of cash for him." Good analysis.
  15. Has to be Hughes for me. I was too young/oblivious to appreciate Harry when he was around (shame on my younger self); all of the best Cub moments I can remember play back as Pat Hughes calls in my mind (and on my iPod, heh).
  16. A future as a lackluster studio analyst and admitted HGH user with an impeccably well-trimmed goatee?
  17. I would do that deal in a heartbeat if by some miracle that package was enough.
  18. He currently plays for the Kia Tigers of the Korean Baseball Organization.
  19. Wrigleyville Sports claims this: "As of right now, Majestic has no idea which jersey Kosuke will wear. The Fukudome on his jersey during the press conference means nothing and the only thing that we know is that he is wearing the number 1. He is not a member of the players union until his first regular season game. Due to this, Majestic needs to have a deal in place with Kosuke and his agent to start producing jersey’s, and name and number product. We will have the correct picture up as soon as it has been confirmed." while Jay Mariotti claims this: "He'll wear No. 1, but when his jersey was unveiled for the flashing cameras, it didn't have KOSUKE on the back like ICHIRO. It simply had his last name. Why? ``I'm just used to seeing Fukudome on the back,'' he said." I don't know what to think anymore. :| For what it's worth, the Cubs Clubhouse Stores echo what Wrigleyville Sports says and they say they won't know until at least January.
  20. He should name his newborn son Clark Addison Fukudome.
