    Boston Globe/NESN - Eric Gagne has reportedly agreed to come to the Red Sox and be the setup man, according to NESN's Tom Caron. The Sox would send outfield prospects David Murphy and Engel Beltre, along with pitcher Kason Gabbard, to Texas, according to NESN gagnes on board

    outside of an unlikely but welcome trade of jaque izzy or eyre the only player i could really see as a surprise would be possibly soriano with a move back but that seems incredibly unlikely cuz noone should mess with the production hes had lately. I really dont see any possibly 2nd base accusitions, maybe luis castillo or something. My guess is that he just plans to play fontenot and sees that as a surprise over de rosa EDIT: I highly doubt it with them wanting to add a pitcher and to add a hitter would be difficult but i wouldnt mind Epatt coming up

    if we have no center field option outside of pie, then i would bat pie second and derosa seventh so we have more speed at the top of the lineup. Also, Pie will get a lot more pitches to hit wiht aram or lee behind him and soriano possibly already on base. Also, derosa would add steadiness to the bottom of the lineup were he and barrett make for an above average 6-7

    In terms of highest ceiling you have to go guzman, marmol, marshall. However, if you're talking likelihood to achieve that ceiling, you have to say marmol, marshall, guzman. Overall, I would say marmol, guzman, marshall. I think if a starter gets injured this year then marmol should be the first to replace him. I see him as a long time starter, not a reliever. Guzman on the other hand could be a lights out closer. Speaking of closers, why haven't I heard anything about Gagne to the cubs. I can't rely on dempster another year. Back on task, i doubt the cubs will put their former number 1 prospect into the bullpen. I can see him having a liriano like year next year after helping the bull pen and getting spot starts this year. However, i can also see him getting injured for a large portion of time like liriano. I agree with the few that say we should trade marshall cuz i think his value right now is as high as it will ever be. So if he will allow us to improve at second, short, centerfield, or will bring experienced reliable pitching then i say trade him.

    I know he is considering retirement, but for the right price he may be able to be talked out of it. He is a proven winner and does not require a long term committment. He averages about 35 more innings pitched then lilly, even over an extended career, and has a .38 better average era. Not to mention he has almost 3 times as many wins in only 4 more years than lilly. Plus, unlike Lilly and Padilla and Jake Westbrook and Jason Jennings he has viable postseason experience. I was just wondering why i hadn't heard his name in a while.

    This is the only trade i wouldnt do but i think we could get them to give us brandon wood in addition which makes this a no brainer to me. Maybe we thrown in dopirak or harvey or something

    They wouldn't be getting a pitcher worthwhile of being in the discussion. Bederd wouldn't be a bad replacement. He would be for Prior. He's no more reliable than Williams for Hill. He's the oldest guy in the discussion and is no more accomplished than the others. Well actually aren't bedard and hill both 26 and bedard has had far more time in ht eleague and has shown much upside in the majors

    what if we made the trade for gonzo then we could add murton in to the tejada deal and mayb enot have to give up prior. Pierre Walker(if only...) Lee Ramirez Tejada Gonzo Barrett Jones That would be more than serviceable especialyy if your rotation has the potential our's does

    i would die if we could get miguel cabrera...but otherwise not much i would take him for straight up. I just generally dislike arod, even though i admit he is probably the best player in game right now, i dont want to see hima cardinal for pujols cuz u know he'll blow up. I don't see the purpose of trading him for pitching because he is younger and has a higher ceiling than pretty much anybody we'd be willing to trade him for.

    Personally, I dont think much of Hill. I rank him below Pie, Guzman, and Pawalek. I believe since the first thoughts of a dunn deal, when Hendry gave up because of his unwillingness to part with Hill, he has simply been inflating his value for future trades. If we can center a tejada, abreu, dunn, wilkerson, or bradley deal around Hill, I would be quite happy. Good job Jim. (unless I am wrong and you actually turned down the dunn trade when you had to put in Hill)
