  1. Here's hoping Farnsworth drills Furcal in the melon during a spring training game.
  2. What's Nomar number again? 1-800-STEROIDS
  3. We know that Bruce is actually Bruce. Does the board have similar verification that Len is actually Len?
  4. Lester, Pinto, Murton, and Wellemeyer for Helton Awful. What are you, a masochist?
  5. Why do people keep posting these crappy rumors from mlbtraderumors.com? Because it's fun.
  6. If... ...Furcal really does decide tomorrow... ...the Dodgers don't hire a manager between now and then... ...and he chooses a Dodger three-year offer... ...not only will it be a sad day for the Cubs, it will be a sad day for baseball. A player will have turned down two teams/situations he reportedly feels very warmly toward to go to a team with no manager and an on-field product that is in disarray, to put it nicely. In the process, he will have turned down a larger total offer. It will be a shame.
  7. CPatterson20, the Rangers are lousy with top middle infield prospects in the high minors.
  8. The Rangers don't have a replacement for Soriano? Ha!
  9. If Soriano goes to the A's and not the Cubs, I would imagine that Soriano would be on his way to the Dodgers for Bradley and possibly others.
  10. The Score is saying that Phil Rogers has a report in the Sunday edition of the paper that the Cubs have a 3-way going with Oakland and Texas in which they trade Wood, Walker, $6million, and prospects and will end up with Zito, Mench and Soriano. Discuss.
  11. If a bunch of stuff falls through (heaven forbid) and the Cubs still have $10 left and nothing to really spend it on, Soriano could become a perverse kind of "Moneyball" acquisition. Not in terms of good value per dollar, but in terms of good value for talent given in exchange. If the Rangers get into a frame of mind where they want to move him just so they don't have to pay him and are willing to give him for garbage, he could become a decent (albeit overpaid) value-for-talent acquisition.
  12. I believe it's Braves or Cubs, unless the Dodgers come up with a guaranteed fourth year at $12-$13 PLUS some sort of easily vested fifth year option.
  13. That doesn't make any sense. 40 million over three years or 40 million over four years? I can't see any rational baseball player/agent taking the former, based solely on the contract itself. :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:
  14. He'd been a Cub by now if he was truely as interested as the media suggested. Nonsense. Kinzer "promised" that Furcal would make a decision before the Winter Meetings so the teams that lost out could proceed with other plans. Last night's LA Times article stated that the decision wouldn't be for a couple of days, which is in keeping with that timeline. Kinzer has nothing to gain by deciding early. By waiting until the last moment, one of the teams might give up a little something extra. Regardless of how insignificant we might think that something is, it could be important to Furcal.
  15. Stone said that the Cubs could not afford to go into the season with 2 rookies in the line up. No problem. Both Murton and Cedeno have lost their rookie eligibility.
  16. What's the non-tender date again? I think it was Dec. 20th last year... Same. I guess we'll know something definately by then, cause he's still just arbitration-eligible if I remember correctly. You do.
  17. Why would Macias accept a pay cut? He was inspired by Chipper Jones.
  18. He was signed to a three year, $2.5 million extension earlier this offseason. Where have you been?
  19. Have you ever seen the guy pitch? He's Joe Borowski without the stuff or the command. He's a good guy; I wish him well. I am surprised they traded him, because we usually like to keep a guy with AAA experience and options down at Iowa in case of injury on the big club. Let's not bemoan his loss, though.
  20. We've got this little redheaded boy we'd like to play out there.
  21. To me, he showed much more potential than Welly or Novoa or Wuertz. There go your chances of ever being a professional baseball scout.
  22. There were no other players mentioned in that trade by any even semireliable source.
  23. There's no way Hendry trades "three high ceiling prospects" for Pierre.
  24. Honestly this site is absurd and I have no idea why people give it even the slightest amount of credibility. Because it's fun?
  25. My original statement remains 100% iron clad. You're dead wrong.
