  1. Dusty has used him differently this year from last year. Last year, he was brought in mainly to face a lefty, may face a righty if the next batter was also a lefty. This year, Dusty has depended on Eyre for that job mostly, even tho he has faced both leftys and rightys. I have thought all year it has been his usage that has contributed to his inflated stats.
  2. I must have missed the meaning of that stat. What is FRAA? Fielding Runs above average? And how exactly is that used in evaluating an outfielder? Not asking to be smart, but would like to know. I, too, had not heard of that stat.
  3. I certainly understand that there are a sizeable number of people without cable. But there are still ample opportunities to find the game outside of their own home. Go to the local sports bar or watch the game with at a buddy's house. Hey, I live fifty miles from the nearest town, and the closest buddy that would watch the game lives in town.
  4. Who said anything about trading Aardsma? The Cubs inquired about first baseman Ryan Shealy, Colorado Rockies, presently at Colorado Springs and offered Aardsma in the deal. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Baseball/MLB/Toronto/2006/06/24/1651013-sun.html
  5. I don't think most people in Chicago know how fortunate they are to be able to go to a major league baseball game for what is intended. A baseball game. Go to any other stadium and you are lamblasted with the jumbo-thron blasting, leading false cheers, and any other such obcenities. Wrigley field is the way baseball was meant to be watched.
  6. Jim Hendry's biggest mistake of this past off season was being the general manager of the Cubs.
  7. Seven innings for the night and finished. Good to see him do good with the Rangers.
  8. Thanks for the information.
  9. I would like to change the subject, 'cause I don't want to start a new thread. But, does anyone have any information about the pocket schedules that the Cubs give out every year. I have searched their website and haven't found any information. Anyone having any would be appreciated.
  10. He's making the team. As soon as I heard he had signed with the Cubs, I knew Dusty would have him on the squad.
  11. The Cubs organization gets more and more depressing to me day by day. It is truly mind-boggling. It's to the point that I don't really enjly reading the treads on nsbb.
  12. Don't know how many have signed since Baker has been here, but, I have yet to hear any free agent say that they have signed with the Cubs because of him.
  13. If Dusty is back (maybe I should say "since" Dusty will be back, but I am trying to remain optimistic) and Neifi is re-signed for 2006, he will see playing time that amounts to two to three games a week. Furcal would not play 130 games under Dusty with Neifi on the team.
  14. Anyone remember the situation in Baltimore in regards to playing time for Palmeiro and his contract vesting for 2005. Baltimore wasn't able to sign free agents for this year. Was that just a coincidence or was that something players and their agents remembered. I would hope that Maddux retires after this year, but I am not optimistic that will happen.
