  1. Cubs.com (I know, I know) has a thread that says CLTV annouced something about a Zito to the Cubs trade being in the works on their sports show. I wonder if this is all bunk from the Phil Rogers column.
  2. Is Orlando Hudson on anyone's radar? There were recent reports that the Jays may move him. He may be a cheaper alternative to Lugo. I know his OBP last year was poor, but he had a very nice 2004 season. He also is very slick with the glove. If they can manage a big bat in RF, and Bradley in CF, Hudson could be a good option to leadoff and play 2B. Hudson Murton Lee Abreu/Dunn/similiar A-Ram Bradley Barrett Cedeno That team should also leave enough money to add a starter like Washburn.
  3. Mets fans are dumb. That's a nice trade for them.
  4. Bears 24 Packers 10 Favre picked 3 times, sacked 3 times. Go Bears!
  5. All of your game predictions are right, but I believe it is the top 4 teams in the BCS who are guaranteed BCS bids. Ohio State should be #4 on Monday, and the Irish will get an at-large bid.
  6. My guess is this is a done deal, and their website is acting up. We'll know soon.
  7. This is odd, even for the "Hot Sotve." Go Bears!
  8. I'm not a big fan of that idea, but at his point I might take it. Bradley Soriano Lee A-Ram Mench Murton Barrett Cedeno That is a pretty good offense. Very right-handed, and not what I would like from an obp perspective. Couple that lineup with Z, Prior, Wood, Washburn, Maddux; and a pen including Dempster, Howry, Eyre, Ohman, Wuertz, and Rusch. That is a potential 90 win team. We could do better this offseason, but I expect to do worse.
  9. As an Orlando resident, I can assure you this city can not support a team.
  10. He indeed has a plan. You (and most here) just don't like it. Pitching More Pitching Defense Lead-off Right Field For right or wrong, he has decided to model the club like the Astros and White Sox of 2005. Assuming the Howry signing is not fiction, I expect we'll see Hendry do the following in no special order: - sign or trade for another starting pitcher (I'll guess Paul Byrd or Esteban Loaiza) - sign either Rafael Furcal or Alex Gonzalez - trade Todd Walker for a prospect - package Jerome Williams along with a minor prospect for Juan Pierre - package Corey Patterson, Glendon Rusch and a pitching prospect for a mystery RF (the prospect is a nobody if Kevin Mench or Jay Gibbons is the target; the prospect is grade A if Bobby Abreu is the target) Can they trade Rusch? Would they? If they get Howry, Furcal, Pierre, Byrd, and Abreu that is the best offseason ever. Of course if they get Loaiza, K-Gone II, Pierre, Gibbons thats not so good.
  11. If the playoffs were to start now, the Bears would be the 2 seed. Unfortunatly they don't start yet.
  12. Dallas and the Giants are in the Bears conference. I'm just hoping the Bears can be the 3 seed and host the bottom wildcard in round 1. Anything above that is gravy.
  13. http://www.endzone.it/images/uploads/articoli/Ditka,Mike12.jpg 90 min to kickoff.
  14. Oh well. Nice try Fresno. Sorry Penn State Fans. Hopefully UCLA will help you out.
  15. Wow. Please don't let the Packers get Reggie Bush.
  16. 21-20....and so it begins.
  17. 10 carries 153 yards, and the 2nd half JUST started.
  18. Bad start for Fresno. They were forced to punt quickly, and USC took over in Fresno territory. Let's see if they can withstand the upcoming USC run.
  19. There should be a rule against picking an at-large team before the conference champion from that same conference. Then again, there should be a playoff. That begs the question: What eight teams would play in a playoff now? I'll assume a USC loss just for the sake of argument. 1 - Texas 2 - USC 3 - Penn St 4 - LSU 5 - Va Tech 6 - Ohio St 7 - ND 8 - Oregon That's how it would appear to stack up were we to use the BCS standings. Can you imagine? A USC/ND rematch in the quarterfinals? PSU/OSU going at it again in the quarterfinals? A possible ND/PSU matchup in the semis? Texas/LSU? WHY isn't there a playoff? It's really a shame that we can't see that. In this hypothetical playoff you would probably have to put one Big East team in, so W. Virginia replaces Oregon, otherwise I agree with your rankings.

  21. Agreed. The worst example this season was Vandy at Florida. Vandy was set to go for 2 to try to beat UF in the last minute, but an absurd celebration call forced them to kick the PAT, and UF won in OT.
  22. 21-13 at the Half.
  23. Yeah, but Reggie Bush has 9 carries for 118 yards, 1 reception for 12 yards, and 4 returns for 75 yards. He is unstoppable. Let's get way way ahead of ourselves and assume a USC loss. I think they still have a better case than PSU for #2. The beat 2 top 10 teams (Oregon, Notre Dame), Penn State beat Ohio State. USC's only "loss" would be to a top 15 team. Penn State lost to 4 loss Michigan (even though it was controversial). I
  24. I may be wrong but I don't think a USC loss will help ND. It will take up another at large. Also if they do lose, will they move down any furthur than 2? It's a nonconference game, so as long as USC beats UCLA next week they will still win the Pac 10 and get the automatic bid. Will they drop past PSU with a loss? I dunno, but I would like to find out.
