  1. Big difference between the Skins and Tampa Game, the Bears Won, the Saints lost. The giants suck and didnt deserve to be in the playoffs and the cowboys defense really hit the skids the last month of the season, even more so than the bears if the Saints are a hot team, the Bears are even hotter reguardless of what every [expletive] outside of John Clayton says at the [expletive] sports broadcasting network Why would wins and losses matter? Lets all marvel at the Saints. They are on fire. I mean they have won 6 of their last 11 games counting the playoff win. What an amazing streak they are on.
  2. Mini Ditka 73 Saints negative 7 Current Bears 27 Saints 17
  3. The defense shut down the opponents early in those 4 games, before taking big leads and playing prevent with 3rd stringers. Is this the fourth or fifth time in this thread that this point has been made? I forget.... Only two days away. Then this will all stop. It's only getting started. Next time we'll have 2 weeks to talk about it. Yeah, I said it...we will have two weeks to talk about the next Bears game. I won't be as unwilling to take the criticism at that point. I think both the AFC teams should be favored over the Bears on a neutral field. Not that I don't think the Bears could win, but I don't see them as favorites over the Colts or Pats. I'll agree with you there, especially if it's the Colts. We really should have beat the Pats on the road despite a crap game from Grossman, though.
  4. Cam Cameron offered the Dolphins job. Congrats to Cam, nice to see an IU guy have success.
  5. I doubt that. If that were the case, then no potential 1st round pick would ever declare for the draft, they'd rather allow all 32 teams to bid for them as free agents. I think a team could draft him, and would then retain his rights for a certain period. Again I don't know for sure, but I would think he would have to declare for the draft even though he was a Senior. I also assume you must go through a draft process before you can enter the league. You can't just not declare and be a free agent. Not sure about that, look at guys like Dave Winfield who was drafted in all three sports (basketball, football, and baseball) I highly doubt he declared for football. There are many others that have been drafted in multiple sports. The reason I assume you have to declare is because I know that you have to declare for the NBA draft regardless of what year in school you were. So I am guessing based on that.

  8. There are no jinxes, no billy goats affect games, and neither do pieces of paper in your freezer.
  9. Points For: Bears - 427 Saints - 413 Points Against: Bears - 255 Saints - 322 Record: Bears 13-3 Saints 10-6 You can find all the stats you want about percentage of 3 and outs forced or percentage of runs for a yard or less, but you can't find a stat that matter more than the 3 above. That's how freaking good the Bears defense was at the beginning of the year. It hides the last 4 games or so. Our defense has sucked since Harris went down. It was headed downhill after Brown went out for the season. Thank God we have an offense this year. It was a big hit losing T Harris and Brown, but I don't think the D has sucked since then. We allowed some huge plays in the secondary without Tillman, Vasher, and Todd Johnson who are all back now. In the Packer game 14 of the points were on Grossman INT returns, so the D really gave up 12 that game. In the Tampa game they had 7 points late in the 3rd before Manning Jr, and Hester got burned, but they were filling in for injured starters who we now have back. The D today isn't what it was before the Brown injury, but it is far from sucking.
  10. Excellent. Where did you see/hear that? Bruce Levine called into Dan Patrick's show to report it. I believe he said Samardzija could get up to 7 million. Trying to steal Hendry's thunder is he? I wondered what that horrible sound was coming out of Southbend. South Bend has no problem with him. Both his sports are completely done now, and he was just as important for the baseball team as the football team. Really, the only people who get hurt by this are the people who were looking for a receiver in the NFL draft, as the rest of the receivers just became a little more valuable (because teams are always worried that there will be a run on receivers in the draft, and now there's 1 less of them). Just like the Cubs took a chance on drafting him last year, some NFL team will take a chance on drafting, it just won't be in the first round. How long does an NFL team hold a players rights after drafting him? I don't know. What if he doesn't enter the NFL Draft? If he decides to switch back to football at some point would he then have to go through the draft?

  14. WOOHOO! Super Bowl! You're a little sensitive about the weather, huh? I can't imagine how upset you would be if you couldn't watch TV without hearing how your team is going to lose this Sunday. I'd rather hear that my team is going to lose all week that hear that my team is going to win all week, like I am currently hearing. I don't like it when all the analysts pick one team. Sports is made for upsets, and by all the analysts picking against the Bears, who shouldn't even really be the underdog, they've created an environment for an upset Bears victory. None of it matters. It doesn't matter who the experts pick. It doesn't really matter how cold it is. What matters is which Rex shows up, and if the Bears can limit the Saints running game. The Bears have won every game where Rex hasn't been awful, and they have won a few of his awful ones too.
  15. I'm not saying you're wrong, but IMO the Cubs have already given Samardzija big money. $7.25M represents the largest signing bonus ever given to a draft pick (not counting the Matt White "loophole" situation). Yeah, I guess we don't know for sure, but my understanding is he only gets that money if he picks baseball. So I hope he does.
  16. I'm not getting this line of thinking. Samardzija has already signed a contract with the Cubs that will pay him something like $7.5M over the next few years if he simply shows up with his spikes and glove. Why would some new contract be needed if he's formally decided on baseball? i don't think that's true. Indeed it is http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/draft/news/261750.html There have been conflicting reports about that contrace. I have seen a few reports recently that the Cubs said they are willing to give him big money, but he has to sign a baseball only contract first.

  18. Gumble and Simms So it's a lose lose situation then. Oh well, I'll be shooting darts and playing fooseball with the volume down then. I guess it's not Gumble after all. Either way the CBS crew is far better than Joe Buck.
  19. Could is the operative word. My lack of faith in player development makes me the pessimistic cuss I am. There are no guarantees in the MLB draft. If you get someone with his ability in the 5th round and get him to play baseball, that's a job well done. That's a job done. It wouldn't become well done until he did something in the majors, or was deemed worthy enough to be worth something in a trade for somebody who produced in the majors. Of course the kid needs to develop, but getting him to committ to baseball full time would be a huge step towards that progress. If thats what this announcment is it would be great news for the Cubs.

  21. Well we have traitor Packer fans in this state, and downstate I assume there are some Rams fans as well.
  22. Add my guess to those who think Samardzija will sign a baseball only contract with the Cubs. Shark could end up being a great steal in the 5th round last June.
  23. And when they get to the Super Bowl, they'll have the NFC stigma to deal with. What network has the Super Bowl this year? Pretty sure it's Fox. I wish it was NBC. It's CBS. No Joe Buck after Sunday!
  24. Owned. OH jeez an awkward position the quarterback is in after a sack and the tight end is on his knees. Believe me, there are some we can post with Favre and Urlacher. Who's in the Conference Championship again? It must suck to not have ever seen a Super Bowl in your lifetime. Too bad it's not 1996 anymore. Good luck with Aaron Rodgers. Nothing like stupid packer fans to divert my attention. You sure you weren't the person on the cell phone that I heard outside of Soldier Field after the game last week that said on his phone, "YEAH WE WON!!! PACKERS SUCK!" Well it is true. We did win and the Packers do suck. Pretty random thing to say, wouldn't you think? I know if we won a playoff game, the second thing I would say wouldn't have been, "BY THE WAY, BEARS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111" Please. I live in Milwaukee. You know as well as I do that plenty of Packer fans would rag on the Bears if the situation was reversed. edit - I've been to Cubs games at Miller Park where "Bears Suck" chants have happened, you Packer People are no different.
