  1. Do you ever do voting on who's the top prospect overall award? I mean instead of a season award, like this is.
  2. The Tribune blames Big Z for the slow start too and says he's doing better now because he's on a salary drive. Morons. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-060824cubsgamer,1,5126982.story?coll=cs-home-headlines
  3. I heard Murph when he was yelling about it before. He said part of the problem with it is that whoever pays gets to pick the times so that if the coaches or the players want to get anything extra in then they have to work around the $$ schedule. Which they should be able to do but it makes you wonder why they just don't say what the block of time is to the businesses and they can take it or leave it. It's because the businesses want to do it in the afternoon so then everyone can hang out and drink for a few hours then go to the game that night. They have have plenty of travel days to sell time to but then they can't have the cubs coaches around during business BP. I wonder if the coaches get paid extra on the side for it.
  4. I voted for Gallagher because he keeps getting it done at each level. Being the 3rd youngest in the southern league and still racking up over a strikeout per inning -- day-um! Plus it looks like he's finishing strong. I like Veal alot and its not a knock on him I just think Gallagher's done it at a higher level and younger age. Nobody thought he could do it either. First and secondround picks are supposed to be ready to go which is why I've been disappointed by Pawelek. Was he hurt or something? He should be at peoria now at least.
  5. No kidding, Mrs. Hill. Guzman I can understand. Congrats on being first in line for the crap-ladeling Rich Hill bandwagon. He should be pitching before retched wreckage like Rusch. AAA All-Star needs to get someone out at the major league level and maybe even earn a mlb win before he turns 35. If another team really was interested in him before Hendry is an IDIOT FOR NOT DEALING HIM
  6. LOL, maybe saying it's a strain is the alternate definition. From Olney's article. But yeah, he's probably pissed because he's a laughingstock now because of rothschild and the cubs. Christ almighty, when was Rothschild considered credible by anyone? He's a joke. As is the Cubs' track record when it comes to any injury, big or small. Can we just nickname Prior "corey" before we run him out of town? The Cubs blabbed a lot about his lack of heart, too. I heard Steve Stone on the radio saying how friggin stupid the Cubs are for trashing players before trying to trade them and then ending up with crap in trades. He used Sammy, Corey and all the rumors about Prior as the example. soryr if this doubleposted
  7. Does anyone really think that Wood pitching badly is going to motivate Hendry to sign him again this off-season? He took a lot of flak for relying on two pitchers who are always hurt this season. People Olney talked to also thought Wood would be best as a power middle reliever and that he's in decline.
  8. Did you even read the link to 1060 West in the other thread? It was written on March 19 and he pretty much predicted the outcome from the diagnosis. Don't just dismiss this as "every muscle strain is a torn muscle." Hilarious that I got lectured by some here a few months ago for pointing out that Prior kept getting delayed and then mentioning that the diagnosis meant he had a torn muscle. I guess it's easier to believe everything the trib says. Good news, everybody, no surgery required! Party time! Just call me a paranoid Cubs fan, LOL.
  9. From cubs.com http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060518&content_id=1460008&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc
  10. I heard on ESPN1000 that the Cubs signed Tony Womack to a minor league contract. Another 2nd baseman ... Anyone else hear this?
  11. here's a daytona cubs press release on jackson getting promoted - http://www.daytonacubs.com/news/viewarticle.php?id=811
  12. Looks like he hit a speed bump in the last 10 days, he's now at .278 /.333/ .456 /.789 (10/13 SBs). Anyone know what's going on? I saw him play a lot in Peoria and he's a good guy. He should bounce back soon.
  13. Good stuff! And, Harvey walks twice to bring his BB/K to an awe-inspiring 5/20. To be honest, those are the only stats I look at for him. I don't care if he hits 60 HRs this year; I'm convinced that if he doesn't improve his discipline at the plate, he'll never make the bigs. RHarvey - 21Ks/6BBs EPatterson - 20Ks/7BBs
  14. I'd rather have Clark. And I want a righty bat with some pop and make it somebody dusty will actually play in RF against LHPs please.
  15. awesome interview, sean's an awesome pitcher, if being underrated keeps him motivated, let him stay underrated until he shows up at Wrigley! lol
  16. There are a couple of great articles on Maddux and Marshall on sportsline. The first is on Maddux & Glavine and what each of them thinks about each other and baseball. here's the link - http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/story/9399744/2 2 maddux quotes cracked me up. The first one was about starting off 4-0 if I can quote these the right way. and the 2nd is about pitchers he likes to watch pitch The marshall article is a little bit older (april 19) but I didn't see anybody post it here. http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/story/9384847 sounds like a level-headed guy.
  17. That's just stupid. Jones needs to grow up though.
  18. Thanks for this thread. My friend was looking through here the other day and said there was more bitching & moaning & crying here than at the pirates messageboard he posts at, lol. The team has been alot more fun to watch with cedeno, murton & marshall playing. Maddux has been fanfrickintastic and carried this team. I hope he stays a cub until he retires and then I hope he stays on as coach or manager.
  19. Lucky's hitting .167-.219-.167 vs LHPs in 30 ABs this year and .308-.333-.423 vs RHPs in 52 ABs. He hasn't ever had LHP-RHP splits like that in MLB. Cubs have faced a lot of LHPs lately. Making the adjustment against LHPs will help him alot and he will do that. He's a hard worker and has a good attitude.
  20. Was anybody watching the game during this innings? The milb boxscore says that Zinter's HR was inside-the-park. Sounds funky to me. Zinter is going to be 38 in a month! Not exactly a speed demon. Coats was in RF. ground out single infield single K inside-the-parker K
  21. ugh, all night games I'll miss. I hope Grant Johnson can start turning it around now that he's supposed to be totally healthy.
  22. I hated carrying an extra pitcher last season especially since there always seemed to be someone who got forgotten and never pitched anyway. But so far this season the longest starting outing has been 6.1 innings by Maddux vs the Cards. Maddux isn't going to start throwing complete games in April, Marshall will stay on a short leash and has to deal with pitching in a MLB rotation for the first time, and I'm happy if Williams and Rusch can survive 6 innings. Who knows what's going on with Z and when he'll settle down and start pitching his 7 innings a game. I hope it's not WBC hangover, lol. When Wood and Prior or Miller come back, they probably aren't going to be going 7-8 innings a game all at once either. Our pen is going to get fried without another long guy in it. If they decide to stick with Rusch/Williams, maybe Ryu could get the next call for the middle innings. Replacing Rusch with Guzman/Hill is fine but he'd also be on a short leash and basically whoever he replaces would be the follow-up after Guzman/Hill is done for the game. I don't see the point of Bynum with Pagan around anyway. Send him back and bring up Ryu or Novoa. And Wuertz better figure out what's going on and if he's tipping his pitches like I read. I didn't see him pitch last night does anyone think he was?
  23. Is that, like, your mantra, dude?
