  1. Maybe Lou knows something we dont. Or maybe it's the white flag special. who knows. I don't like that lineup. Hopefully Lou knows something we don't. pregame radio show lou just said he wanted to give fukudome 2 days off 'so he'll be ready to go tuesday.' he didn't say anything about edmonds. i didn't see the game yesterday, but my brother claims edmonds took his time running home on the sac fly wannabe, so he thinks edmonds is in lou's doghouse.
  2. brewers didn't waste any time scoring in the 1st inning. 4-1 milwaukee, top 2
  3. it would be nice if he'd stop blowing saves against division opponents. just blow them against teams that aren't fighting the cubs for the division, kerry.
  4. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080706&content_id=3076058&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb Brad Lidge will be saving games in Philadelphia through at least the 2011 season, after the pitcher agreed to a three-year, $37.5 million contract extension. The deal includes a 2012 club option and performance incentives. Working for $6.35 million in the final year before becoming a free agent, Lidge is off to the best start of his career, with an 0.77 ERA in 35 appearances. He's one of two full-time closers in the Major Leagues, along with New York's Mariano Rivera, not to blow a save this season. The right-hander has anchored the NL's best bullpen, which has a 2.74 ERA. His devastating slider/fastball combination has produced 47 strikeouts in 35 innings.
  5. as people have previously said, if burnett sucks, he won't opt out, and the cubs will be stuck with him for 2 yrs at $12million each.
  6. who's in charge of drafting for the brewers? let's trade for him.
  7. sun-times said that the cards had a deal to send edmonds to the white sox last year, but edmonds wouldn't waive his ntc to go there. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/1040768,CST-SPT-cubnt05.article Edmonds said he got a call from St. Louis management in the week after the winter meetings in December asking him to waive his no-trade rights for a deal involving the Sox. ''They told me I was traded to the White Sox, and that I had an hour to OK it, and I told them I needed more than that,'' said Edmonds, who had asked for a trade closer to his Southern California home after being told he didn't play a big part in the Cardinals' 2008 plans. ''I was sitting on the beach one day with my family, running around with my son, and they told me I had an hour to decide whether I wanted to play with the White Sox or not,'' he said. It's unclear what the deal was, although the Cards were said to be interested in Juan Uribe at that time. ''I needed more time, and they kept pushing me and pushing me,'' he said, ''and I said, I can't answer that question today, so obviously I guess I can say no.'' The next day he was traded, with cash, to San Diego for infielder David Freese -- a deal he later says he was told by Padres officials had been worked out for weeks.
  8. Its not really about will he put them into the playoffs so much as they are trading away top prospects for a guy who might get them into the playoffs, and will no doubt be skipping town this off season. Its a hell of a gamble. brewers are one game behind st louis for the wildcard.
  9. he looked like he was ready to return tonight! great job by Z pitching through what few problems he encountered.
  10. i think some of those fans were hauled in behind tractors
  11. theriot needs to go back to trammel's catching-the-ball school
  12. suppose they wanted to match the flag blue, but i'd like it more royal blue
  13. I don't know, he looks much less intimidating with the knee socks. His legs look skinny as hell he's broken them out before, sometimes to break out of a slump, good to see him do it again
