  1. A first rounder is going to be a lot more expensive than Ceda and since he'd be an end of the first rounder , he'd probably have a lower chance of making the majors than Ceda.
  2. He's not going to open the season, he'll probably be a second half guy.
  3. Incorrect, I doubt he won't not make the ML team if he isn't not unhealthy.
  4. Yeah, he obviously isn't making our team nor did he have the chance of making any other team out of ST. After being out for so long it will take more than a few weeks to prove that hes healthy and back in playing shape. I'm guessing his contract has out clauses if hes not on the ML roster by so and so date.
  5. Hes a starting 1b on a non-playoff team and a very good #1 PH off the bench/back up 1b on a playoff team agreed, that's how i view him. actually he probably doesn't project to be much worse than lee over the next three years so if we could find someone dumb enough to take lee off our hands at full price, i'd be all for it. That's exactly it. And I hate thinking it, because I've been duped by the Dave Keltons of the Cubs past, but I really can't see Hoffpauir being THAT much worse than Lee over the next few years. Agreed, and Hoff is a fantastic defender as well.
  6. I think Wieters will be amazing but look at who the #2 guy was. Glenn Braggs' career highlight was marrying one of the singers from En Vogue. yeah looking at glenn braggs i wonder what happened to him, his minor league numbers were great but he never put it together in the bigs. i get what you're saying about gordon or hermida, TT, but gordon's EqA was only .293 since his big numbers were put up in the Texas League. i just don't see any of the warning signs that maybe he isn't that good. he was consistently a great hitter at ga tech, which is high-level college competition; he has a relatively low k-rate, the power has always been there, he doesn't have a long swing, and draws plenty of walks. plus he absolutely destroyed two pitchers' leagues in his first go-through. the scouts love him and the projections love him. i know crazy things can happen but i'll be really shocked if, assuming he stays healthy, he doesn't become the best-hitting catcher in baseball. I would say that at least in the short term my concern isn't his bat playing in the ML its his defense.
  7. Well just look at Joe Morgan who had excellent patience as a player...

  9. Watch those goals again. Those weren't typical Huet-esque big rebounds off of slappers from 30 ft away, those were rebounds off close shots with his defense not covering the forechecking pens. They weren't NOT his fault, but they were moreso his D's fault.
  10. the hawks dominated this game. and the pens are not a good team, especially without crosby What the hell game were you watching? The Hawks absolutely did not dominate this game. You are insane. They outshot the Pens by like 30. 17 and SOG are hardly scoring chances. We weakly put the put to the net and didn't crash. Seriously, anyone who thinks we dominated this game must not have watched and have only been looking at the boxscore. We didn't get dominated, some of the goals on us were freak, but it was roughly even. im not just looking at the box score, i'm just showing how it backs up the obvious. i dont know how you could have watched the game and say they didn't outplay the pens and yes, at least 3 of the 5 goals on us were flukey/lucky/soft. Well flukey/lucky does not mean it was the goalies fault...soft means it was. I don't necessarily agree with that. I don't think either team played well at all. The pens took advantage of their opportunities more, but neither team really played well.
  11. Excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse us for having higher expectations of a goalie we spent a ton of money on vs a cold minor league goalie if you had higher expectation for huet than what he's done so far, that's your fault. he has been good. This game wasn't his fault, but overall hes hardly been worth it. no this game was his fault, but he's been good. maybe complain about the team that gave him the contract instead of the guy who accepted it. huet overall has been better than expected. like i said, it's your fault if you expected him to be spectacular because he got paid a lot. This game was more his D's fault than his by a mile. This has been one of his better games for a while regardless of goals let in. More power to him for taking the money he got, but hes not a top tier goalie.

  16. overall, we played like poop against a good team that (hasn't played well this season and) didn't play well either...I'll take a point.
  17. And theres your best player on the Pens
  18. This is true, 4-3 is really hard to kill, you only have one guy at the point. The whole point of a PP is to get it from 5-4 to 4-3 to 3-2, to 2-1
  19. well thats weird, thanks for the explanation, Eddie
  20. The guy embellished well. But it's the ref's job to be able to decipher that. Definitely, you get a stick to the hip and you don't fall down unless you want to
  21. Now the versteeg penalty was really weak
  22. Ohh, come one, glove to the face is not a punch, they both shoved each other...take them both off.
  23. skille getting 3rd period playing time!
  24. I love being wrong! keep putting the puck to the net and crashing and we'll be OK
