  1. Absolutely absurd that wasn't called. And I'm not just channeling Cyno here. Absolutely and totally [expletive]. Bull. [expletive]. Inexcusable. There was an awful high stick behind the play that was missed. On the break itself, it looked bad at full speed but on replay, I can see a no-call. Yeah it was a brutal high stick, but when i rewatched it the canuck was flailing to the ground.
  2. Yes. That should have been a penalty shot. I just rewatched it 4 times and no way.
  3. Bolland really was going for the take down for the penalty shot there and not the goal.
  4. Beautiful! (and they actually took the zone that time) I'm very glad to eat my words.
  5. Exactly. It's not their style. That needs to change right now. Yeah, but when the Canucks are giving you the space behind them and not the space in front of them you have to take it. Of course, taking the zone with control of the puck is preferred but if it isn't working you have to adapt. This one is on Q. Oh, I'm not arguing with you. Perhaps this is why Q has a bad rep in St. Louis and Colorado. Can't coach in the playoffs. They are still trying to take the line by crossing the neutral zone east-west, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD IT HASN'T WORKED, ADAPT! Its like they think adapting the west coast offense is going to work for hockey for some reason.
  6. At this point just put the puck to the net and crash. It doesn't have to be a hard shot, it just has to get near the net. Wreak havoc in the crease, don't stop until the whistle and we're bound to put one in or get a PP.

  9. that was our chance, boys...4 on 4 or PP is the only way we are going to get a goal the way we are playing.
  10. I never understood this either...its like calling a charge and a block in basketball.
  11. NHL knows its a problem. For some reason they have not done a very good job of consistently calling interference. To make it worse, they almost never call interference when a team is on the PK. And they almost never call it in the playoffs, for better or worse. This also. The announcers dont help either. Pronger got called for an interference the other night and the announcers called it a weak penalty. Well it was weak considering what doesnt get called, it was however a blatant interference. The reason is because the current definition of interference is much much different from what it was a decade ago. The current interference is relatively new to anyone over 35. And the Canucks aren't playing the interference game. They are dropping back, taking away neutral zone space and clogging up all the lanes, which is making it very difficult for the Hawks to cross the blue line with the puck. The hawks should be playing a dump and chase game and try to take the space the Canucks are giving them, but for some reason they keep on trying to take the zone and they keep getting stonewalled.
  12. To a certain degree though its limiting our opportunities. Always going for the big hit is great and all, but in doing so it takes yourself out of the play as well. Its hard to score on a turnover when everyone is out of the play by finishing their checks. Its a fine balance that I hope they find better in the next two periods.
  13. Anyone who just realizes that they don't have VS at their house, probably doesn't have a GF. What would I ever need VS for besides hockey games? All the Blackhawks games are on Comcast, and the one that wasn't I watched at my GF's house and didn't need to discover if I had VS or not. It was a lame attempt at a masculinity joke.

  15. Duncan Keith's turnovers have been extremely disappointing this series.

    Trade

I like Hart a lot more than Harang, but it wouldn't be the most nuts trade ever if he needs pitching and has OF to spare. Harang was pretty darn fantastic prior to last year.
  17. Pitt just walked Braun with men on 2nd and 3rd to bring Prince Fielder up with the bases loaded (and a double play situation). 3 runs later and the buccos ain't gonna pull it out tonight.
  18. by who, and how drunk were they when they said that? yeah, no kidding. Sandoval is almost certainly going to hit more than 45 homers during his career. that's true, he didn't specify time frame. When not specifically cited, always assume 3 year total. :D
  19. by a bagillion miles
  20. Is this roto or head to head? Do you have an IP limit? Thats just an absurd amount of pitchers and very little in the way of offensive bench players. I'd still perfer Napoli to Inge (especially with Vlad out indefinitely). Inge will cool down, and hes not a top 10 catcher, so don't be afraid to cut him loose. You definitely need saves too, 2 closers isn't going to cut it in a 10 team league. I know a lot of closer situations are in flux, but use that to your advantage. Work the waiver wire for closer in waiting candidates instead of young pitchers who *might* be rosterable in a 10 team league.
  21. I was just coming here to post this as well. I'm hoping he gets more comfortable in front of the camera because he looked so nervous when he was on before. They also mentioned he was writing for espn.com, which i was also unaware of. I know he recently moved from Chicago to NYC, as well. Ha, yeah hes just a really awkward person. He was pretty terrible when he was on TV a ton during the last election, so I don't know if he'll get much better. And, now hes not even running BPro anymore (I think he still puts stuff up as a contributing guest, but I didn't renew my subscription so I'm not sure), since hes devoted himself to politics. But it wasn't so much that Nate Silver himself was on BBTN, but that I hope it is a harbinger of an increase in acceptance and publicity of sabermetrics in the baseball television analyst communitry.
  22. What I can only assume is an effort to differentiate themselves from MLBN, Nate Silver is now on Baseball Tonight (not full time or anything). Hopefully, they are going to try to get the saber market. Considering its something that MLBN should have already exploited, hopefully they will also be jumping all over this and we will finally get some informed perspectives on both BBTN and the MLBN shows.
  23. Ohh come on guys, theres still a lot of game left. We've seen this team battle back before...gotta have some hope!
  24. Just telling Nilo to stop complaining about refs, my bad. Its all in good fun!
