  1. Here's his thoughts on Nomar's return and what he's gonna do with Neifi and about Ronny Cedeno sitting on the pine. :pukel:
  2. Craig Wilson. Can't he not come off the DL until after the deadline? Hes untradeable until the offseason (assuming he isnt put on waivers and clears them).
  3. He similarly nixed a trade to Cincy a couple years ago, he probably feels the same way he did then. I think he's a real pro and will handle it just fine. He played left field a couple years ago, was his defense adequate? If he can defend in left, does anyone think we can get him for Mitre and have SD eat some of his salary. Not unless the Cubs have moved San Jose while I wasn't looking. not unless the cubs want to down grade in left.
  4. whats hot, his 222/222/370/593 line over the last 7 days or his 235/241/329/571 line in July?
  5. He does but said that he wants to stay in Chicago and end his career here. Pretty much all that option is, is negotiating leverage to be able to extend the contract even longer after 2 years. Even though hes been mashing, IIRC hes going to be making a pretty penny in the last two years as his contract stands. I dont think theres anything to be worried about.

  7. Roast did you mean to title the thread Rumblings? Or was it a purposeful misspelling, hard to tell with you.
  8. Jim forgot to read the scouting report...only hotdogs with eyeliner play shallow
  9. They save a ton of money and in FLA Arroyo will be very very good.
  10. he does it on purpose, you dont want your 8 hitter taking a bunch of walks for the pitcher to make the last out in the inning. Thats exactly why I want him there, hes a smart enough hitter to realize that you need to take a different approach based on where you hit...just look at his stats last year hitting second. He took more walks, but it affected his batting average. I think Barrett is a great 8 hitter...especially with the rest of that lineup. Prove me wrong Z!! aww shoot, i hate to be right

  12. Old news... as far as I can tell (from news reports) the BoSox are back in the lead for Burnett
  13. I like Trot Nixon just as much as the next guy...probably more as I have him on my fantasy team, but why in God's name would the Red Sox move him?
  14. Frank isn't any better than Dusty in that regard, maybe worse. And winner of Livan's most pitches per appearance, drum roll please....1998 on the Marlins, followed closely by 1999 for the half season he was on the Marlins. Actually Dusty used him the least! That has a lot to do with how bad he was in san fran. He only had one season there with an ERA+ above 100. The other two years, his ERA+ was 77 and 87. Actually I take this back, because he did throw a ton of innings, even when he was awful. Yeah regardless of how well he pitched he always through a ton of innings a ton of pitches per inning, made nearly every start going deep into games. He has been a bullpen saver to say the least. Its unbelievable taht hes stayed healthy so far and now its not even a shoulder or elbow issue.
  15. I didn't call him dense. I asked him if he was being dense. If I was misconstruing what someone wrote or said, and I did it multiple times, I would hope someone would point it out. I did so on the previous page without using demeaning adjectives... Can't we all just get along?
  16. tsk tsk tsk, come now, you know better than that. In 700 plus posts its easy to misconstrue the meaning behind Bruce saying that Hendry wouldnt even trade Hill for Dunn straight up, not that the offer was ever on the table, but to be representative of the fact that the cubs place such a high value on Hill and low on Dunn. Just because its ZZ and theres a history doesn't make it right to ridicule him. Please, I don't know you from Adam, but if you were doing the same thing, I'd call you on it too. Maybe I'm the only one that has a problem with people making false statements based on something that they were too lazy too read and comprehend? Bruce Miles wrote: I'm working at the game and I can't linger, but I can tell you no such deal has been offered or accepted by anybody. The Cubs would not trade Hill straight up for Dunn, let alone offer additional players. This deal is not happening. But it's always fun to speculate. ZZ wasnt too lazy to read or comprehend as he replied to my post recapping Bruce's two posts. It is perfectly within reason to read taht and construe the inference of the possibility of a proposal of Hill for Dunn straight up. I would disagree as Ive said previously, but I can see where some one would make that inference reading Bruce's statement.

  18. I'm guessing that's a rhetorical question... :-k And if ZZ was still on, you know that it wouldnt :D

  20. Trust the Admins, they can know for certain. This site (for the most part) offers very warm open arms to any and all new posters (regardless of affiliation) and gives them the benefit of the doubt until proven trolls or inappropriate to post. That, along with our zealousness allows a simple retread rumor to become a 30+ page thread. This site truly abides by the notion innocent until proven guilty, I trust the Mods made the appropriate decision. If anything it can be said that they are too lenient with new posters allowing them to redeem themselves for honest mistakes or acclimation to this regulated world. Thereby allowing trolls or immature posters to do a bit more damage. However, the saying, I'd let 10 guilty men go than convict one innocent man is what they live by.
  21. I'm not trying to start anything, but Marty Brennamen said it was Hendry who told him that Hill, CP, and Mitre was too steep of a price for Dunn. My wife and I both heard it listening to the game today (She's a Reds fan unfortunately). Hal McCoy, the HOF Writer for the Dayton Daily News, agreed that it was too much to give up for Dunn. It may sound crazy, but this is what transpired. You could hear Marty yell "bye Jim" right before he went into the story on the air. As crazy as this all sounds, I'm 100% positive this is what I heard. McCoy loves Hill, and he has stated this in the past in some of his columns. That's all I got... CubZ, you are correct...might I guess that ZZ wasn't paying full attention due to BBQ being in the general vicinity? :D
  22. Just to recap... McCoy said it was not straight up Dunn for Hill, but Dunn for Hill, CP and Mitre. Maybe both were offered. The nature of news is fluid and ever-changing after all. ZZ, I interpreted the comment regarding Hendry wouldnt even do a straight up Dunn for Hill trade as an off the cuff remark by Bruce to show how highly the cubs value Hill and how low they value Dunn. THe main contractions are whether or not the deal was actually offered, which is subject to subtle inference, and who rejected said proposal, or idea of a proposal, saying it was too steep.
  23. All these attempts at character assassination... tsk tsk. I'm not starting any rumors - I just posted the facts. There's the Miles info and the McCoy info and they conflict. It'll all come out in the wash.... The Reds radio broadcast and Miles gave the same info, and that still is not enough? Columbus and ZZ give differing accounts. If I've kept it straight, Columbus on TV heard Hendry talk with Brenneman with Hendry saying the price was too steep for the Cubs. ZZ heard on the radio the converse, saying the price was too steep for the Reds. I think I've followed that, basically a bunch of misinformation and he said she said, nothing out of the ordinary given baseball trade talk near the deadline, especially with Hendry.
  24. Sometimes the mods are privy to info the rest of us are not. In this case, I think they made the right call. What does that have to do with this thread? And I'm sure Dusty gets laid more than me too, huh? It must really rankle you Dusty Busters that Dusty Baker is more successful than you'll ever be. He's better paid, more well-liked, probably had more and better gals then you, and when it's all said and done and it's in the history books he will be remembered as a good manager. And no one will remember you. And on top of this, he's ruining your Cubs. And he'll probably finish out his contract - your protests are going to go totally unheeded. la (laugh aloud), it's such a waste of energy! It's kinda sad, when I put it in these real life terms, isn't it? I feel for you. Me, I give Dusty credit when it's due, like with Neifi today, and I'd rather elevate than denigrate anyway, makes me happier. To point out every little flaw doesn't do it for me either. What it comes down to for me, is that when y'all can't even give credit to the guy when a move he makes turns out well, that's just sad. Really dredging up the past eh. Do you have that saved on your computer or something? I stand by the above opinion anyway. Be careful tho IMB, you can't use Dusty Busters anymore.... Seriously, we need to drop the whole incident and move on. Bringing it back up again when you know ZZs opinion (and his conviction in sticking with it) is just as rabble rousing if not more than the whole labelling issue in the first place.
