  1. You'll be very happy with those seats. A little past 3B, heres seat data, although it doesnt do justice. http://www.seatdata.com/html/mlb_cubs/section_mlb_cubs_409.htm For the love of God, don't take the blue line to the redline. That will take you over an hour longer than getting off the Blue line at Addison and taking a bus.
  2. Two words, Joey Votto. PECOTA has him at 284/366/511 THIS YEAR if he were in the majors. His MLE last year was 312/393/564. First base is going to be locked up in Cinci for a long time. Frankly, even before Hamilton, I was thinking the Reds were going to let Dunn walk. Hamilton's possible emergence and good story makes it a lot easier.
  3. Like I said in the game thread, I don't think Ohman has options left and even though hes had a rough couple innings, he has averaged over a K an inning and a 1.30 WHIP the last 2 years (100+ IP). Even though hes signed for two years its only 2.5M, there are some teams that don't have LOOGYs, I don't think he would make it through waivers. And even if he did, then couldn't he decline the assignment and become a FA? Quit the knee jerk reaction people...Sori hasn't been hitting, should we send him to AAA?
  4. Then why EVER use a backup catcher? If not in a 12-1 blow-out, when? Should we wait until Barrett strains his back or something? What happens then? Use the backup catcher to start a game or two a week. Exactly, as opposed to position players, typically catchers do not get defensive replacements.
  5. Its easy to pitch well when the game doesnt count...crap. There were alot of people saying that about Hill last year. Did you just compare Will Ohman to Rich Hill? No. I think Will Ohman sucks. However obviously people on this forum find it ok to take stabs on my view on psychology in baseball. And I don't appreciate those tongue in cheek stabs. And then you completely contradict yourself by citing Hill...we are all very confused. I think I wasn't conveying my ideas very well. I do not think, just because there is no pressure, all of a sudden a sucky player will be GREAT! That is what your post insinuated. My idea is that baseball is PART mental. Albiet very LITTLE mental. However there is a little bit of psychology in baseball. For example. When a batter struggles at the plate for a long period of time. He tries to do to many things, and sometimes has trouble to forget about the numbers, block out his negative thoughts. And try to get back into rythem. Now, when Rich Hill was struggling early last season. Was it because he did not have the "stuff"? No, it's because he was nervous, and he didn't yet realize that he was a major leaguer, and belonged there. He even said this himself. That one of the keys to his success, was realizing he belonged. Why do any AAA pitchers have trouble at first. It's MENTAL. When Carlos Zambrano has a call that doesn't go his way, or something minor goes wrong. SOMETIMES, he tries to overthrow, and does not step off the mound, slow down his game, and focus on 1 pitch at a time. Mental. I shouldn't have said "Yes I'm serious" in the first place. Because NO, I didn't really beleive "a hitter will get a homerun more times when he is comfortable than when he is not". I just made that comment about cliff as sort of sarcasm toward the Cubs. Like saying "Ok Cliff, now get a home run when it matters". According to Yogi Berra baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical.
  6. Possibly 2 far fetched reasons. 1)Jacque went 2 games without action in RF, maybe Lou thinks JJ is the better fielder and wants him getting more of the action 2)On the broadcast Len/Bob said that Lou believes that Murton gets rid of the ball faster. They showed a clip of the media asking Lou to rank the OF arms and Lou was flabergasted. He had no clue how to answer the question and went on a friendly rant about how the media asks him really hard questions, etc. He never answered the question, meaning he probably didn't want to offend Jacque. But I think in reality Lou is doing this to allow him to get Floyd and Murton in the game at the same time. Hes said hes been really sick about Murton not playing enough.

  8. BBTN is ridiculous...so your telling me that if you have to reach across the plate for a ball thats a foot outside youll ground out, but when the balls right down the middle youll hit homers....mind blowing. Thanks Steve Phillips!!!
  9. Ohh thats embarassing...I thought black guys were supposed to have long strains...I would have guessed at least 8 inches.
  10. One can only hope. Don't think he has any options left...I'm guessing he wouldn't make it through waivers. with his 2 year contract, i bet he would. His last 2 years he has 100+IP of over 9K/9 and 1.3 WHIP. There are teams out there without LOOGYs, 2.5M for 2 years could be spend a hell of a lot worse regardless of what hes done over the last couple innings.

  13. swimming in piranha-infested waters dressed as a meat loaf. Or just dressed as meatloaf
  14. going to the kitchen to take a dump. It sorta has some of the same stuff, but you'll just end up with crap all over the place.
  15. that might be a smidge premature i know...i just don't like wade miller...he is a baby..."if i don't make the rotation i want a trade!" cry me a river If I were him, I'd say the same thing. A mediocre starter gets 21M in the offseason, a mediocre reliever gets 1M.
  16. The first catcher to wear a hard helmet...some guy on the sox.
  17. Esteban German got hurt mid-game and Grudzy is hurt too. PLEASE START HIM FOR 5 GAMES!!!!
  18. Good trade? You killed the guy.
  19. he recently signed an extension w/ the brewers. Recently as in 2 years ago? Hes a FA after next year. Brewers should trade him for Hughes and Tabata after this season. i didn't realize it was only a four year extension that included two of his free agent years. i don't know why the brewers would want to trade him after this season. they should be pretty good this year, and even better next year. Because they have zero percent chance of resigning him? If hes healthy they will be able to get a SIGNIFICANTLY better package than keeping Sheets for a year and getting a couple draft picks. It wouldn't be the fan friendly move and it might be the tough move if the Brewers think they have a shot at the WS next year, but it would be a move that would ensure they would continue to have a shot at the WS for the next 4 years or so.
  20. Don't they aleady have a long term contract in place?
  21. At this rate he might break Aaron's 755 this year. He'd have to average three and a half a game from here on out...so you're sayin theres a chance!
  22. Especially sweet since I ripped Rosenbloom a new pie-hole for picking the Astros to win the central because of their "rotation-slash-closer that he trusts more than any other team". http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/rosenblog/2007/04/round_up_the_us.html#comments I'm not the type of person to post on those boards, but reading that just infuriated me.
