  1. Classy. LOL, yeah. Wonderful isn't it? Who knows if it's true, but just looking at Z and the way the whole day went, it wouldn't be suprising. Well Rotoworld said Barrett was sent to the Hospital with a busted lip. After watching the video I didn't see where that happened in the dugout...could have happened in the tunnel or in the clubhouse.
  2. 5x5 12 team deep rostered roto team. Just traded Crisp, Atkins, Germano, and Carmona for Kinsler and Dye. I needed to open up the roster spots and wanted to sell high on Germano and Carmona. Thought I'd buy low on Kinsler and Dye given their BABIPs and my need of power. What do y'all think. My team will stand as C-Barrett 1B-Berkman 2B-Kendrick SS-Rollins 3B-Braun CI-Pena MI-Durham OF-Manny OF-Holliday OF-Griffey OF-Dye UT-Victorino BN-Tulo BN-Kinsler BN-Taveras BN-Gordon BN-Theriot DL-Baldelli plan on picking up E.Encarnacion with one of my extra spots SP-Smoltz (I just saw him walking down Mich Ave.) SP-The Unit SP-Beckett SP-J. Shields RP-Wagner RP-Valverde P-Reyes P- DL-Hughes DL-Harden DL-Pedro
  3. I'm thinking of dropping Atkins. Talk about a bust so far when you consider what his numbers were this year and where he was drafted. I don't know how much longer I can wait for him. I traded Figgins for Atkins a few weeks ago...talk about your lose lose trade. Plus I have Gordon and just dropped EE for Braun. I'm 3B crazy...now if just one of them will produce.
  4. Hamels Halladay and then the rest I wouldn't have a problem trading any of the rest, but try in this order...Hill, Matsuzaka, Sheets. Sheets lack of Ks is very very troubling. Although Halladay has been fairly lackluster in that category the last couple years. I am a big fan of Fielder, so I'd trade anyone but Hamels for him. Hamels obviously has the injury risk, but hes got the highest upside.
  5. If you think about it though we are about 1/4 of the way through the season. Meaning the sample is about twice as much as a full season of a starting pitcher or four times as much as a full season of a starting position player (of the top of my head).
  6. I would have to say B. Although, I'm not a huge fan of Penny, Votto should be quite good for years to come. Billingsley has been screwed around and his performance has suffered. McCutchen is really young and has struggled mightily so far this year. Hes extremely toolsy and hence has been way high up on prospect lists, but he could flare out. Tejada...well he could collapse at any time now. Looks like you should have stellar pitching as early as next year. Penny and Capuano is pretty much a coin toss. As much as I'm not a huge fan of Penny, I'd probably still take him over Capuano. Although I think Penny probably has more trade value.
  7. I have Shields, Germano, and Carmona and with Beckett coming of the DL am looking to deal one of the young guys. All of them have been keeping men off base like none other, but only Shields has been doing it with Ks. I know Carmona has a good sinker, but how about Germano? While it appears that of the three Shields success is the least flukey, obviously hes the one with the least chance of notching a win. I thought Germano would go back down when Hensley got healthy, but hes been struggling in the minors and Germano has kept it up, so he might be up to stay for at least the forseeable future. Rank the players in terms of who you would value vs who you think has perceived value. Throw out any young pitchers you have for others opinions.
  8. You need a new league. actually this league is generally quite knowledgable, but there are one or two people who are impatient. I don't think it's terrible that Lowell was a FA; his numbers were nothing special last year. I don't have a problem with Lowell being available, heck he was a FA for quite a long time in our NSBB league. I do have a problem with dropping Berkman. Hes a 1/2 rounder. Hes even on the non-drop list on yahoo. And its not even that hes having a horrible season, hes just had a bad week.
  9. I hate to say it, but I beginning to think Theriot might suck. He only appears to be a slightly better hitter then Iz, and he has no range. I would keep Iz at SS and at the 8 spot everyday, and then figure out who the super sub is between Dero and Ryan. In each of his last 3 seasons in the minors, his OBP was .367, .365, .367. So he's got that going for him, which is a heck of a lot more than Izturis can say. That translates to, what, .335 in the bigs? Izturis' defense might just be enough to make up that difference. I'd say there's an argument to be made that they are about equal players. Translates to 343, 321, 308...not so stellar. PECOTA predicts 272/331/360 for 2007.
  10. Especially when you look at his similarity index and comparable list...it just doesn't compute.
  11. You need a new league.
  12. I thought I heard something about Blanton that suggested his recent success is not a fluke. Don't remember what, but I'd pick him up. I have Shields and his ratios are great, but his lack of wins are maddening. His play is bound to regress so his chance of winning is going to go down even more. I'm trying to dish him while his value is high, but hes not a bad option to pick up right now. I've been doing well with him, Carmona, and Germano filling out my back end.
  13. God, don't drop Konerko. He started like this in 2005 as well and that worked out OK for him.
  14. Yeah standard 5x5 12 team 5 keeper league. Just acquired Atkins so right now Gordon is going to be sitting for Andy LaRoche. Publically at least the Royals say their sticking with Gordon, but hes not helping them at all. I'm sure its been tough for them to stick with him and its been especially tough for me. Plus I figure Ryan Braun has to get called up sometime soon. The trade got cancelled because he just traded OCab in a different deal, but hes interested in Griffey. I'm completely fine with selling high on him. Just proposed Griffey and Gordon for Upton and Sheets. If push comes to shove I'll throw Theriot in too as he'd be a bench/spot starter. Either way, I think its a steal for me. Sheets is healthy, his production will come.
  15. Agreed, Cano is one of the most overrated fantasy players in baseball. Freddy Sanchez. Before the year yes, now, Sanchez is nothing
  16. I want more pitching and was just offered Sheets and OCab for Alex Gordon and Theriot.
  17. If Rios is a FA, I hope you are playing in a 4 team league. 10 team. I agree, I'm surprised he's available and I wish I had the room for him. There has to be someone worse than Hall to drop though...what you need to do is quit that league which must be made up of 8 year old girls.
  18. Agreed, Cano is one of the most overrated fantasy players in baseball.
  19. I really think the trade Figgins/Theriot for Atkins/Durham trade is a steal...Atkins>>Figgins, Durham>Theriot. Although I'm not in need of steals with Rollins, Taveras, Victorino, and a bunch of 15 steal guys on my team. I countered with additionally giving up Corey Hart for Lincecum, but not sure how well that will fly. I think you aren't giving up enough. I'm very much not a Uggs fan, nothing hes done says he will repeat his 2006 campaign. Maine is obviously going to regress. Hes a fine back of the rotation starter, but nothing that special. If you can pull off that deal I'd do it. After at least two back and forths a day for seeminly ever we finally got a deal through. Figgins and Aaron Hill for Atkins and Durham. When we had reached a stalemate I went back and proposed the Figgins/Theriot for Atkins/Durham deal that I had turned down weeks before. Evidently, because Theriot hasnt stolen a base in a while the guy balked at it. Frankly, in my mind the only thing thats changed with Theriot over the last few weeks is that he gained SS eligibility and has had a few more quotes of love from Lew. I see that as a plus. Theriot is definitely a poor man's Freel. Frankly I value him over Aaron Hill. While Hill had a great first month, hes recently slowed significantly both in average and power. He should have a decent average, but his power in April was for sure a fluke. I was more than happy to supplant Theriot for Hill and evidently, so was my trading partner.
  20. I think that's more of a knock on Clint Hurdle and his Steve Finley fetish than anything else. Not that Charlie Manual is any better... Shane Victorino-OF- Phillies May. 2 - 10:42 pm et Shane Victorino is expected back in the lineup for Thursday's game after sitting out a second straight Wednesday. Still, it was a discouraging day for Victorino owners. "I think [Victorino's] one of those guys who is better off getting 450, 500 at-bats instead of getting those 700 that you get at the top of the order," manager Charlie Manuel said. "I think it will make his season stronger. He's what they call a Kenny Lofton player. He gets worn down at times." Who calls them anyone a Kenny Lofton player? If the Phillies wanted to limit Victorino to 130 starts, they probably should have gotten themselves a better fourth outfielder than Jayson Werth, who has one extra-base hit in 32 at-bats. Although in Manuals defense, Werth IS better than Finley. Although Hurdle hasn't put Jeff Francis in the bullpen.
  21. Make that 8 extra base hits...
  22. $45 I'm thinking about it but it might not be enough b/c I am in 2nd place and ties go to the lower team - I actually have a few weeks though b/c he has to be added to the 25 man roster 1st. It is nice to see him in the AL. Especially with the run support he'll be getting. I think he made the right decision. Its nice to play for your home team, but it sucks to lose every game 1-0.
  23. jones is exactly the type of player the A's don't want. doesn't take pitches. terrible defender (though they've had less of a problem with this part in the OF lately). That's not true. There's a certain player that the A's don't want. It's called the overvalued player. Jones skillset may not be the greatest, but for what he does he may be below market value, which is exactly the kind of player they want. I'm sure they'd prefer Murton to Jones, but I'm sure they'd pick up Jones if the Cubs would help pick up the tab. Completely agree, just look at guys like Stewart and Payton.
