  1. Yeah, agents know this is a business. They may not pubicly ever admit it when a client sucks but I doubt they would hold a grudge against an organization that released a crappy player.
  2. Cute response, but you're the one that brought him up.
  3. Equivalent Average is an all-in-one offensive stat that makes adjustments for ballparks and a few other things. Giles weighs in at .287 compared to Jones' .277. That's pretty close still, but Giles is likely to improve while Jones is unlikely to sustain his numbers. FYI, Giles' numbers were .328 last year and .319 career while Jones' were .258 and .259 respectively.
  4. Well, Pettitte's been trying something new lately; he's been tossing with his left hand. Dusty certainly doesn't do it well, but lefty-righty matchups are one of his favorite things outside of the double switch. I think that probably explains Murton, Jones, and Nevin.
  5. He can't hit lefties worth crap.
  6. I agree. I don't think it makes any sense to dump Prior while taking risks on pitchers like Guzman and Miller. I doubt either will be as good as Prior.
  7. no, he's much cheaper too Younger, also.
  8. Oakland is a much better team than the Cobs, though.
  9. If you expected that to be representative of his production this season, you overrated him. Murton's 05 numbers were inflated by BABIP and platoon splits.
  10. Prior has yet to lose a game this season!
  11. Umm... No. First of all, the charge against Arthur Andersen was Obstruction of Justice relating to shredded documents. And they were cleared of that charge by the US Supreme court, but not until a company of formerly 28,000 employees was reduced to 200 who focus on various lawsuits related to the government's unlawful destruction of their firm.
  12. So stupid. I cannot believe how stupid Dusty is.
  13. Because Dusty Baker is a stupid, stupid man.
  14. If we egg him on, he might take care of our Juan Pierre problem for us.
  15. I don't believe that for a second. No reputable accountant would do that. Even a disreputable accountant would not do something so obviously fraudulent.
  16. Hmmmmm..... a 7 batter lineup. Very interesting !! Man, Dusty must really hate Matt Murton.
  17. They're pitching around Carlos to get to Pierre.
  18. Which is patently false even if you believe Mulder's clutchness makes up for being worse than Haren.
  19. Last year the park effects were about equal. I don't know how they'll end up for 06.
  20. That's as myopic as using wins and losses. If a pitcher has a 1.75 WHIP, then he's not getting by on skill, he's getting by on luck. If he keeps pitching like that eventually he won't be as lucky. There's a reason most of the serious stat-heads rely on defense independent pitching stats over ERA.
  21. Why is Murton losing playing time to Bynum now?
  22. Do you believe that he will hit like this for the rest of the season?
  23. Maybe. And maybe he doesn't get a hit for the rest of the year. His history tells us that neither of those are likely alternatives, though.
