  1. He's right, Meph. Emoticon's are seriously lame and you should stop using them.
  2. I'm not sure you actually know who Juan Gonzalez is.
  3. PECOTA likes Fukudome a lot. Not only is the projection the most optimistic I've seen, take a look at his list of comparables: I wonder what PECOTA sees that other projections and translations don't.
  4. If this is the actual deal for Santana, it makes the Haren trade look a lot better. I still hate the Swisher trade, though.
  5. I don't think the options are too expensive in the current market, let alone in a few years. Cano's an excellent offensive second-baseman and a superlative defensive player. I'd rather have him for 15 than Soriano for 18.
  6. Cano is a superb player and this is a good price for the Yankees.
  7. It's good to see people showing Meph the appropriate amount of respect now.
  8. Since when does what the Orioles do affect us?
  9. I didn't know there was an issue, I thought he was going to wear #1. Yep, the plan was always for Steve to wear #1.
  10. Oakland basically committed to being in rebuilding mode, so I think people are assuming that Blanton will be available for the right price. A SF area writer speculated before the Haren trade that Blanton might be traded if, and only if, Haren was traded. In other words, that Beane wouldn't trade Blanton without entering a full-fledged rebuilding mode. However, other writers have speculated since the Haren trade that Beane won't want to trade Blanton now because he has to have somebody in the rotation. I'm not sure which to believe, but even if Blanton is traded I'm not sure the Cobs are a good talent match. I don't think Beane would be interested in Pie since he has several young outfield options himself, and I don't think he would be interested in Patterson unless he believes Patterson can stick at second.
  11. Thanks, everybody. There are so many people I need to thank I don't know where to even begin. Cuse for starting and maintaining this argument in the face of so much resistance. IMB for making this post. This victory is half yours, dude, I couldn't have done it without you. I'll remember and cherish this day for the rest of my life.
  12. My interpretation of your posts is a completely valid opinion and you have no basis to discard it.
  13. Dusty's opinion is completely valid. Just because your statistics don't account for it, you don't have any cause to attack it.
  14. Well, that's not really the point. I would say, that to an awful lot of people posting here that legwork should not have been necessary. A lot of people considered your position ridiculous, and they were all correct. Maybe they were correct by coincidence, or 'for the wrong reasons' or something, but they were right.
  15. You keep thinking that. So, is it your position after all this that you were, in fact, not wrong?
  16. Ahahahahahaha!
  17. This is a legitimate opinion and should not be discarded simply because stats don't support it.
  18. yes, i too feel bad for all the cheaters who have now been exposed. Case in point.
  19. Someone other than Brian Roberts, pls.
  20. It shouldn't take a good hitter to measure park factors.
  21. Or Burnitz for that matter. I remember hearing that Wrigley didn't usually have any homerun benefit for lefties, but I can't recall where I heard that and I can't find homerun park factors that break down according to platoon splits. I wouldn't take it on faith that Wrigley is a great environment for lefties without checking up on that first.
  22. Um, yea. That would be ridiculous. Where'd you get a hold of PECOTA on him already, BTW? http://www.baseballprospectus.com/unfiltered/?p=699 Lots of tasty morsels from Nate in that Unfiltered.
  23. PECOTA loves Fukudome like the dickens: .289/.401/.504 .303 EqA I'd buy that for a dollar.
  24. Try and stay on topic here, Sean.
