  2. I really think the offense has to be on the hook for this poor start. Right. You can't waste starting pitching like this.
  3. This team has had 10 quality starts already. They're 6-4 in those games. Their pitchers have given up 13 earned runs in 67 innings for a 1.75 ERA in those starts. Ouch. The quality-start breakdown: Lilly (4), Hill (3), Marquis (2), Zambrano (1).
  4. Thanks everybody. Figured a man turns 50 only once, so I took the day off. I'll tip one for NSBB. Talk to you guys from Atlanta tomorrow. (Len and Bob are great, and I appreciate their shout-out.)
  5. Said he wanted to change things up and that he called Soriano in and said if CF was affecting his hitting, he'd move him. Soriano said he'd like to stay in center. Thanks. Any talk of Pie's hot start and maybe a call-up in the near future? None emanating from the Cubs.

  9. yep, i knew murton wasn't getting those 400 PA's. Cubs are 1-0 with Floyd starting; 0-2 with Murton. The Murton thing just ain't working. O:)
  10. I asked Derrek what he thought if a white player, such as Biggio with Houston, would wear 42. He thought it would be just great. I do, too. I think anybody who wants to wear it should be able to wear it. To me, Jackie Robinson was the most compelling sports figure of the 20th Century.

  12. I had him with 81. The official count was 84. I'da left him in.
  13. Lineups Cubs Pierre, CF Perez, SS Oooops, wrong year Soriano, CF Murton, LF Lee, 1B Ramirez, 3B Jones, RF Barrett, C DeRosa, 2B Izturis, SS Marquis, P Reds Freel, CF Dunn, LF Phillips, 2B Griffey, RF Encarnacion, 3B Hatteberg, 1B Gonzalez, SS Valentin, C Lohse, P
  14. DeRosa is indeed a late lineup sub for Theriot, batting seventh.

  18. How was the velocity on his pitches? There are no radar readings readily available here. We'll have to get the readings later, but he looked appreciably better this time out. His defense let him down, ran up his pitch count and probably cost him an inning of work. How far away would you guess he is from pitching in the rotation? 2-3 weeks to a month. Wow, that's better than I thought. Any idea how the Cubs would handle that? I assume Miller would be the odd man out (most likely they will trade him). At this point, that's one of those "cross that bridge when we come it it" questions.

  21. Prior is done. 60 pitches, 37 strikes, 2 wild pitches
  22. According to Gameday, he's only thrown 19 pitches. :D Yeah, I don't think they're doing a good job of tracking the number of pitches. They say that 4/5 batters in the 2nd jumped on Prior's first pitch...I wonder how accurate that is. Not accurate: Tulowitzki took ball one Iannetta took a called strike Cook bunted foul Taveras took ball one Matsui took a called strike
  23. Looks better than last time. When he's missing, he's missing quite high with the fastball.
  24. Through 2, Prior had 42 pitches, 27 strikes.
