No kidding. Me too. I told Hendry today that he'll have the Baseball Prospectus writers on his speed dial pretty soon. This is culture shock. Does Jim even know walks are a good thing? I reminded him today and yesterday. He said, "Anything to keep you happy, Bruce." (He was smiling when he said it.)
What's the point of even calling up the poor ole' adorable Red head? Wait a minute....Marissa Miller was in town, and Murton is in town....maybe the Cubs were trying to set the young man up, as an apologize for treating him so bad as a player? :-k With that said......trade "The Murton" before you kill all of his value. Dang. Why does it make sense to take Theriot out? He has a six-game hitting streak (11-for-26). He's hit safely in 12 of 16 games. He's batting .302/.371/.429. Granted, those numbers probably won't hold up, but why not ride it? Theriot is the Cubs' shortstop until further notice. When he shows he can't do it or when he slumps, Piniella will move him down in the order or sit him for a few games. Right now, he's not hurting this club one bit. Don't know if you got the memo Bruce, but you aren't supposed to defend Theriot or even like him on this board. Even if he is hot and will likely return to sub-average at some point. I was going to ask if you are still around, what if anything, have you heard on Sori's calf? I think we'll know more on the next road trip about the calf. Right now, he's doing some light work, and the Cubs are still saying he'll need only the 15 days. On Theriot, I just think you've got to be fair about things.

Hey Bruce, if you're still around any word on Murton starting in the near future? Nothing yet. What I'd like to see is DeRosa go back to second and put Murton in left for a stretch of games. Wouldn't we all. Just curious, you haven't heard anything on the Crisp situation Gammons seems to have made up have you? Haven't heard anything about it from the Cubs.

Murton must have run over 3 of Hendry's dogs. That's the only reason I can think of why he's still in AAA right now. With that wind and the way Murton plays the field, it's questionable he catches that ball.
I wonder if this has something to do with why it looked like he couldn't catch up with any of Harang's pitches? That would be more like it. The hand has nothing to do with it. Lou said he was going to spend 2-3 days working with Pie to shorten his swing. The two worked together Wednesday, with Piniella engaging in some pretty animated discussion with Pie. I pray that isn't a diplomatic way of saying Lou was yelling at Pie. I don't know why Piniella would think that Pie needs yet another voice telling him what he should be doing at the plate, let alone that he could single-handedly shorten Pie's swing in 2-3 days. I don't think Lou believes mission will be accomplished in 2-3 days. It's probably going to be an ongoing process and that perhaps in 2-3 days, you can pu him back in there and see how things are looking. And Lou has experience as a hitting coach.
