I think one thing that hasn't been brought up about the wild card is the nature of the teams in front of us. Right now, we are behind: San Diego - 6.0 Arizona - 6.0 Los Angeles - 5.5 Philadelphia - 2.0 Atlanta - 2.0 SD plays 32 of its games against the above teams ARI plays 35 of its games against the above teams (including 6 vs. us) LA plays 32 of its games against the above teams (including 4 vs. us) PHI plays 26 of its games against the above teams (including 4 vs. us) ATL plays 22 of its games against the above teams we only 14 games against all the other teams in the wild card race. Which means that it leaves alot of points in the season were everyone else is beating up on each other, and we get to play celler dwellers (61 games with teams below .500, but that can all change. regardless, we have a nice schedule for the stretch run). Also of note is that 3 of the top teams in the WC race are in the race for the western division, so that means that we only are really competing with 4 other teams (as it stands now, unless you include colorado).
