  1. darn, tie game :(
  2. His k/9 has been declining every year since hes come into the league. His stuff has been diminishing, and he no longer ace starter IMO, but hes getting payed like one.
  3. I don't really believe this. Yeah, maybe he could've gotten slightly more elsewhere, but how is $15M per year a huge discount. That price would put him 10th this year in salary, and while he's certainly a very good player, he's not at the elite level of guys like A-Rod, Bonds, Miggy Cabrera or Pujols. There have been reports that Ramirez would get anywhere from 100 million to one report that said the Angels were ready to offer Ramirez 130 million dollars. He's a big discount on last year's market where players like Soriano and Carlos Lee (both probably worse players and both older) got bigger deals. yup. if aram was an FA this coming year, he would get at least the contract soriano got.
  4. I find JJ Hardy very easy to hate for some reason.
  5. wow, fielder mashes one into centerfield, but comes up short. second hard hit ball of the inning.
  6. gwynn makes a sweet catch to end the inning.
  7. blister on his finger. things are going badly for the brewers. edit: i guess it's not a blister, but more serious?
  8. I'm in a rough spot when it comes to making my judgement on Hendry. Because of how well ALL of his acquisitions this year have played, and the fact that he did sign Aram to a huge hometown discount, i'm leaning towards him being kept around for this next regime. If he can get Z locked up, get rid of one of the bums, and make a trade for a starting position player, then ill be completely sold.
  9. Well, the vibe around the situation recently has been pretty positive. Hendry has been quoted as saying he talks to Z's agent at least once a week. And with Z pitching extremely well, and the team winning, it just feels like more good things are just going to come with it......like a Z extension =).
  10. what's his stuff look like nowadays?
  11. Rebuilding? maybe retooling wass better word.
  12. CUBAN FOR ALL TIME GUEST CONDUCTOR!
  13. i hate this. i have mlb.tv blacked out, and fox won't show the game.
  14. woulddnt it be funny that in a rebuilding/transition year with not a real owner we broke through?
  15. This isn't surprising. Roy Oswalt's strikeout rate has been in a perpetual decline since he broke into the majors. You think there is a reason for it? Is he just trying to pitch to contact more? He could just be losing his stuff as he gets older. I know he isn't really at the age where people think of players as declining, but K/9 tends to peak early in pitchers' careers, if I remember correctly. I haven't looked at his stats, so I don't know if how much more significant his decline is than the average. Your exactly right. In fact, you could probably say that as he has gotten older, Roy has become more of a groundballer pitcher, as his k-rate has gone down almost every year since he's come to the bigs. His season high for K's is 10, but I've noticed that in almost every game this year, he has gotten into the double digits for groundballs. I wish i had some stats that could show his average velocity, because I fully believe that he has lost some of it on his fastball, and because of this, hasn't used his curveball as much as his punchout pitch because it doesnt have as much of a difference from the fastball.
  16. Colangelo+Cuban???
  17. Ben Maller has some interesting "rumors" about A-Rod I don't know about how credible he is (i'm assuming not very), but well here you go: also:
  18. Alright it's official now: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2935612 5 years/90 million. I had a feeling that the 100 million rumors were a little sketchy. I guess thats not overpaying to much, since its about the average salary Soriano is getting, but for less years (but theyll be the same age at the end of both deals).
  19. And the rally bitch is happy. careful now, don't want to get 5 pages of flack for that ;)
  20. hey i just realized i missed my turn  Can i make it up?
  21. this contract is really insane IMO. If you're going to pay 20 million for someone, then he better be a 5-tool monster who plays great defense. Ok he plays an elite position, but in my honest opinion, he isn't the top CF in the game. I won't argue that he isn't top notch in the field, if not arguably the best. But his bat is lacking when it comes to power hitting. I'd be way more comfortable giving someone like Grady Sizemore that kind of contract, who is the premier offensive CF in the game from my perspective. He's also almost 10 years younger. Does anybody believe Ichiro is going to be as good as he is now at age 38?
  22. Another reason I want him: totally unafraid to try something new, something different, something better. the mere fact that he could be involved in the philosophy of the club, instead of just business and financial restrictions would instantly make him one of the better owners in this league. I can only think of one guy who is that involved with the team, and his team doesn't get alot of wins for as much money as he puts in ;).
  23. Rockies up 2-0 vs. the Brewers 2-run Double by Helton in the 3rd.
  24. well im going to be a bit bold and say your going to have alot of threads derail like this one with that kind of methodology ;).
