  1. it couldn't be that these guys are all "better" than their major league counterparts because they've not been given enough of a chance to fail at the big league level, could it? i suppose, but the fact of the matter is, for the combined estimated 18 mil that your getting out of the vets, you could get slightly less to better production out of your cheap in house options. While i'm not going to go and say that there is a 0% chance that ALL of these young guys will fail, is it a stretch to say that we'd be better off? You have murton who's already produced at the ML level, Cedeno whos tearing up AAA who could definately do better than Izturis, Soto who has also had sucess at AAA that couldn't be any more of an anomaly that Kendall and Hill have been in 07', Pie who is our young stud that needs to go through the growing pains that could show some flashes, but will inevitably pay off more in the long run in his development than having pagan as your 4th of with mediocre offense. Petrick who had done good in limited time on the ML squad, and has been great in 07' in the minors, should definately outpitch Eyre if given extended time. The rulingn is out on Piggy though, but I think you will agree with me that you'd like to see him pitch on the ML team more than Ohman.
  2. Here's hoping that theodore will deliver us a victory.
  3. Dunn can't be any worse than floyd is out there in right. And who's to say alfonso is sticking at LF, he could probably play in right, and there's no reason to think he won't move. Point is, when you're upgrading your offense as much as you are with dunn in the lineup, then you find ways to work him in. The cubs are in the hunt for the best bat possible with less priority on the position at which they play. Obviously we aren't going after a 3B or 1B only guy, but if he has the ability to play in the OF, MIF, or C, then you have to assume there's a chance of adding him.
  4. In my opinion, getting rid of ohman and eyre supercedes the need to go out and try to get a player at a position as iffy as reliever. If you rid us of these two, and call up piggy and petrick, we probably are better off.
  5. Dunn to the Brewers is not something I would be very happy to see. Make no doubt about it, Dunn is a great offensive commodity, and the fact that the brewers might get him for so little makes me cringe even more. Hart, Fielder, Braun, Hardy, Dunn? Ugh......
  6. the fact of the matter is, you have 6 guys that are playing down in iowa that are playing better than players on our roster, and could no doubt contribute. Petrick -> Eyre Pignatello -> Ohman Cedeno -> Izturis Pie -> Pagan Murton -> Jones, Floyd Soto -> Hill, Kendall It really saddens me that its come to this. While it's not as bad as say, playing neifi and macias over other players like in years past, its certainly doing nothing good for the team. The mere fact that we are winning with these 8 players getting regular playing time is remarkable. We gotta change this.
  7. flaschat bitches chat/flashchat.php
  8. kendall was no the only reason we lost the game, only a part of it (albeit a big part of it, and given the fact that he was supposed to have minimal impact, not negative one, hes going to be the scape goat). lou's horrible mismanagement of the 8th inning. How do you let ohman face 2 more batters after getting bonds out. Shoulda thrown weurtz in their asap. And will ohman, HOW THE HELL DO YOU WAlK 2 CONSECUTIVE BATTERS TO LET THE GIANTS TAKE THE LEAD. We gotta get rid of this schmuck. DAVE FREAKIN ROBERTS WILL. The cubs offense and pitching as a whole were horrible when it came to walks. We surrendered 7 walks to a very impatient giants team, while we let the supposedly erratic Zito keep us to the minimum of 0. That is a huge disapointment. Overall, bad game by most of the whole team. And lets not try Soriano at the 5th spot anymore. In theory, it shoulldnt be a problem, but the guy is hitting .170 when he isnt leading off, so lets stick with what works.
  9. top of the order comiing up. not so sure about that.
  10. Lefty/Lefty I believe. except ohman sucks against lefties. lolwut edited my post after i realized what i said was falsified. damn you.
  11. bonds is 0-4 vs. ohman. Guess that might be a reason to justify this matchup.
  12. kendall looks like hes flailing at bottle caps with a broom stick.
  13. It's going to be a K or a double. I don't see anything else happening. good call STRETCH TIME!
