  1. this team is right under the 2004 team in terms of talent, and the pitching is the 3rd best behind the 2003 team. I think they will come out with the most wins though because of a better manager, a healthier team, significantly weaker competition (compared to the 95+ win teams of Houston and St. louis), and a bit of things going our way. I think this team will be a forced to be reckoned with in the playoffs because our best 4 starters can all be dominant, our bullpen has some strong points and will be better with the addition of Wood, and our offense can string together hits very very well.
  2. I predict this thread will easily surpass 15 pages.
  3. On the lead-out for that segment, he specifically even said 5 games up. I doubt it, but it would be nice to head into September in first place, let alone 5 games up. with the way we're playing, with the way milwaukee is playing, and with our schedule, i could see it happening. You figure that NY is going to close the gap on Boston somewhat, and the NL East and West are two good divisions that will change division leads all of this stretch run, as will the AL Central, and AL West. Our's is the only division where I think that beside Boston where we can run away with it.
  4. wow waited over 3 years to make a post and he brings the thunder with the first post. I dont know why you would hope not about Murton, I mean seriously would you rather Jones or Floyd face a lefty? Murton in RF against a lefty gives us our best chance to win. and you waited a mere 42 minutes to be a dick about it Chill out with the namecalling. Where does that gif come from? and while we're at it, who is this modzilla, and why does he not appear on the moderators list on the index. i fear him regardless.
  5. What happened to talking about the initial talking being brought up, or even getting in the neighborhood of that? Lol @ this thread, though.
  6. this game is OVAA
  7. ccmon geet out of it Mets.
  8. I think there is a small misconception about Pie's prospect status, partly because of how long he has been in the minor league system. The average of of a Triple-A player is around 23, and Felix is under that at 22. At every level he has played at, he has been younger than the mean, but since he's been around for 5+ years, people might perceive that he should have been in the big leagues by now, and maybe even producing. The fact remains that if felix is a great talent, that is benefiting from a patient development cycle. I agree with the sentiment that he is a top 25 prospect, and this is partly due to the crop of last year's top prospects maturing to MLB rookie status. I wouldn't be very happy if we were to see him ago, unless he brought a great talent back.
  9. The cubs aren't even in the atmosphere of what it will take to get santana. Even if you trade Hill, Marshall, Pie, and Patterson, i'm not convinced there wouldn't be an exponentially better deal from a prospect rich team.
  10. What are the cards behind us? i think they're pretty far out of the picture at the moment. They'd have to get as hot as we did in june to start being seriously in contention. If they win tonight, theyll be 5.5 behind us. I wouldn't worry about them until they get back over .500.
