  1. What's the point of even calling up the poor ole' adorable Red head? Wait a minute....Marissa Miller was in town, and Murton is in town....maybe the Cubs were trying to set the young man up, as an apologize for treating him so bad as a player? :-k With that said......trade "The Murton" before you kill all of his value. Dang. Why does it make sense to take Theriot out? He has a six-game hitting streak (11-for-26). He's hit safely in 12 of 16 games. He's batting .302/.371/.429. Granted, those numbers probably won't hold up, but why not ride it? Theriot is the Cubs' shortstop until further notice. When he shows he can't do it or when he slumps, Piniella will move him down in the order or sit him for a few games. Right now, he's not hurting this club one bit. Don't know if you got the memo Bruce, but you aren't supposed to defend Theriot or even like him on this board. Even if he is hot and will likely return to sub-average at some point. I was going to ask if you are still around, what if anything, have you heard on Sori's calf? I think we'll know more on the next road trip about the calf. Right now, he's doing some light work, and the Cubs are still saying he'll need only the 15 days. On Theriot, I just think you've got to be fair about things. I agree Bruce. No matter what he does people here are still going to bash him. I don't understand it. Understood. That WAS sarcasm BTW. I like him. I would like him to be better, but I like him nonetheless...and I am always for playing the hot hand.
  2. so angry... must resist urge to punch things. Yes, that games still angers me. On the bright side that one win there against Atlanta was the day after Lou got ejected and the start of the good times of '07. That was the game I was at with my cousin the Braves fan last year. Very nice

  4. Yikes! How about DeRosa at 3rd today, Murt in LF--Aramis has horrible numbers against Gorzelanny. Won't happen: DeRo Kosuke Lee Soto Murt Johnson Cedeno Theriot Marquis
  5. Bannister and Z are carrying me right now.
  6. LOL I GET IT BECAUSE THEY BOTH PLAY THE OUTFIELD AND WERE BOTH HIGHLY TOUTED PROSPECTS LOL DuBois was highly touted? Well, around here. He was "touted" in that people waned to see him play over Hollandsworth. That's like saying Theriot was "highly touted" because people here generaly wanted him starting instead of Izturius. Jeez, nitpick much? I was being completely sarcastic anyway. The point is that Pie and Dubois are a terrible comparison. Sure but its great consonation. :D
  7. LOL I GET IT BECAUSE THEY BOTH PLAY THE OUTFIELD AND WERE BOTH HIGHLY TOUTED PROSPECTS LOL HAHAHA Yea and they are both AAAA players. Haha I've called you out on this before, but I'm going to do it again; that's a mind bogglingly terrible comparison. Pie was doing DuBois didn't even get to AAA till he was 25! And even then, he never put up the numbers Pie did. Yes I know you have but thanks for refreshing my memory. I really hope and pray everyone on here who really believes in Felix PMs me when he turns it around and proves he is ML ready. I am willing to eat crow. I just don't see it happening.
  8. LOL I GET IT BECAUSE THEY BOTH PLAY THE OUTFIELD AND WERE BOTH HIGHLY TOUTED PROSPECTS LOL HAHAHA Yea and they are both AAAA players. Haha And you've been able to deduce this from the sporadic at bats a TWENTY THREE year old has gotten over the course of a season? Yes Roast, I am only looking at his fewer than 30 ABs this season. Not last season or anything else. Long swing, inability or unwillingness to make adjustments, etc. Let's just agree to disagree, I know I am in the minority here and don't want to turn the game thread into another "I like this prospect/I think he sucks" debacle.
  9. LOL I GET IT BECAUSE THEY BOTH PLAY THE OUTFIELD AND WERE BOTH HIGHLY TOUTED PROSPECTS LOL HAHAHA Yea and they are both AAAA players. Haha Oh I forgot a LOL or two. LOL. AND ALL CAPS

  11. I was just thinking the flip side would be fun--that it'd be nice if Myers showed up to the game with a black eye and a "no comment."
  12. Agreed. His soft, straight fastball is my biggest concern. If he had more movement or more speed to compliment his big, slow curve I would worry less. At this point, I don't even really see a Changeup being that helpful as I fell it would be slow, slower, slowest. (cue someone mentioning Maddux) He had a good year last year, and I am hoping he can straighten himself out this year, but I have my doubts. Not crazy, irrational doubts with reactionary comments, just doubts.
  13. Actually this happens all the time. Anytime the game runs past its time slot, I am able to switch over.
  14. One thing to keep in mind. He did break his finger several weeks ago, and then went from a warm and dry climate to a cold and wet climate. I am in no way giving him a free pass, because even if that is what is ailing him, he should sit himself down for a couple of days. Anyway, just my .02 and I got nothing to back it up other than I just got my splint off my finger and I would not want to be hitting a 90+ fastball right now.
  15. i have to jump in here, because this is a very common misconception of pie. he's not utterly impatient; he's averaged 3.74 pitches per at bat, which is nearly or very slightly above where aramis ramirez is most years. pie actually shows decent patience at the plate. his biggest problem, IMO, is pitch recognition and judgment about what to swing at. when he gets in a hole he does a poor job of shortening his swing and making contact. there are also times when he is ahead in the count and swings at a pitcher's pitch, grounding out or popping out weakly. if anything, his instincts are lacking at the plate, but he is not a true hacker in the vein of corey patterson. Point taken, poor choice of words by me. My biggest concern is swing seems so long and loopy, that its easy to find the holes. If he had a shorter, more compact swing, I would be less concerned about his 180 ish PAs.
  16. I find it funny how people are allowed to have their favorite players and no one can say anything bad about them (Pie) but if someone happens to like someone else (Theriot) they get railed on. I for one *hope* Pie pans out, I just don't see it with his utterly impatient approach, especially everytime someone happens to be on base. I mentioned this yesterday and Tomy23 got on me, be I refer to him as the Dominican DuBois. Not because of any real similarities other than they both seem to be AAAA players. Again, I hope he becomes the next (insert star here), but I really feel its premature to do anything but simply HOPE for that. And FWIW, I would also rather see Theriot on the bench or even a bus outta town.
  17. Is there any way to update this list with other teams travelling to Chicago? Even if its a partial list? When I go I am usually with the opposing team's fans, and they'd probably like to know that info. Thanks
  18. That's such a bad comparison. You're right, once is skinny and 6'1", the is husky and 6'5"--but they are both AAAA players. I hope I am wrong, and I cheer for myself to be wrong. Esta no bueno.
  19. All that weight apparently went to his face.
  20. Come on, Alice! Gameday Audio Link Uh yeah listening to that already. Looking for the Gameday PbP and box link. But thanks Judy! Was a reference to the Maddux/Glavine "Chicks dig the long ball" commercial. Sorry for the confusion. No worries, my buddies and I always give each other girls names when we're joking around and giving each other a hard time. Came from one of our old basball coaches.
