    That's the dumbest thing I've ever read. Same price, same cost in picks, but don't have him for this year? Why? Not to mention the other teams that probably would have traded for him if the Bears said "we'll wait until next spring".

    Why in the world would Epstein want Girardi? What is it about Girardi’s managerial style that anyone would thInk is a good fit for this Cubs franchise? Im not saying he does or will hire Girardi or even let Maddon go, just saying that it a possibility it could happen if they dont want to extend Maddon pass 2019..     I wonder if it would be possible to have a handshake deal in place, decline the option, Texas pays the buyout, then resign him for a few years with a reasonable aav. Not even sure if that is legal. I wonder what he'd get on the open market.

    Among the WAR top ten leaderboard from 2013 (arbitrary) to present is Josh Donaldson, Jose Altuve, Paul Goldschmidt, and Matt Carpenter, and none of them made it onto a BP top 101 list.

    This thread grates on me way more than it should, which is probably not at all. Dernier was just decent for only a year and Kenny Lofton was a Cub for only a couple months. These leadoff combos were not deserving of nicknames. Like at all. Why is this making me so angry? In summary, the nickname "daily double" is dumb, but if it is used, it should be used only for leadoff combos that are together for at least three years, and are actually really good for those three years. Otherwise it's meaningless and who cares. And I don't know why I'm posting this because Almora and Baez are already not a thing, which I guess puts them not to far off from the Lofton and Grudzielanek and Dernier Sandberg tandems, which were barely things (I'm not saying Sandberg want a thing, I'm just saying his thingness has nothing to do with batting second behind stupid Bob Dernier).

    I was just thinking how it would have been nice if Ohtani picked the Cubs, because we could have avoided the Darvish debacle, but then I realized I was crazy for thinking Ohtani wouldn't suck too if he was a Cub.
