  1. Goatse seems incredibly uninspiring. Not sure how you can be considered a disciple of a guy you coached under for one year. He played for him for two years and coached under him for 3 years. Although I don't think guys with such a mediocre history should have "disciples".
  2. What is the argument for not playing a full extra quarter in the playoffs? If it's still tied after that, turn off the game clock and keep playing until the next score.
  3. I don't know if this is a good reason or not, but I'd have a hard time voting for Clemens because of the whole grooming/child rape stuff.
  4. Reggie Mckenzie was a pro personnel guy with the Packers for a long time under Ron Wolf and Ted Thompson. He was very highly thought of and worked his way up to director of football ops. Was a pretty hot gm candidate about 10 years ago when he took the raiders job. They were way over the cap with very little draft capital and so he was put into a pretty tough situation. He drafted Carr and Mack and the raiders found some success, but then they hired de facto gm Jon Gruden and McKenzie didn't last long after that. You could probably do a lot worse, even though he isn't very exciting.
  5. Y'all are insane if you think there is any truth to that rumor. The dude has absolutely awful covid takes, and generally seems to suck in a lot of ways, but is first and foremost a huge narcissist. He's not throwing away his legacy because he doesn't want to have to wear a mask or get tested. However, I bet the NFL secretly won't test any star players in the playoffs, or at least leading up to the super bowl.
  6. I mean, that one was on a tee. It would have been a crime had no one brought it up. Living close to Champaign, I am shocked how many people are still really upset by this. I tell them to print up tshirts that say you are B1G champs. Really no one gives a hoot about regular season champions except Green Bay Packer fans Why would Green Bay fans care about them more than other than bases? It's more likely to be fans of teams that rarely win that care about them. I didn't even realize the Packers won the division last weekend until I saw the players wearing the hats and shirts in their press conferences.
  7. I love when the penalty is so dumb they don't even show a replay
  8. After the Stroman signing, I was hoping this guy would lay low for a while.
  9. Jets discussion
  10. Awesome story. Blake Hawksworth, apparently one of his pitching coaches, got a shout out. Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time. Had him in my minor league system in a Diamond Mind sim league way back when.
  11. And who do you think votes for the board of directors? (I know it's largely a symbolic rubber stamping of some local business leader). Just because it's been banned doesn't mean it isn't the way we should hope all professional sports are "owned".
  12. The more I think about it, the more I believe the people here, especially considering the prevailing political leanings, should appreciate what the Packers stock sale represents. 1) prevents another sucky billionaire from ruining what should belong to the fans 2) prevents the league and said billionaire from moving or threatening to move a team 3) decreases the likelihood of a billionaire from holding a city or state hostage in order to steal tax dollars for a new stadium 4) forces the NFL to disclose financial information that they'd much rather keep secret 5) prevents a meddling owner (Snyder) from getting involved in football decisions I think all fans should want their team ownership to be structured like the Packers. If the Bears were structured this way, many of you would be happy to become a part owner* for 300 bucks. *You may say that a Packers shareholder isn't an owner, but if they aren't then who is?
  13. Who stole from who? If it's a fugazi, does it matter who stole from whom?? Packers are 3-1 in the past 4 years coming out of the bye. I mean, you have to go all the way back to last season to find out how incorrect the statement was, but.... They got destroyed by the Bucs last year and by the 49ers in 2019 coming off of their bye week.
  14. I don't think you can call it grifting. Nobody thinks it is anything more than an expensive souvenir that looks good framed on a wall that makes it not quite as weird to refer to the team as "we". I'm shocked (and pleased) that they didn't figure out a way to have NFTs involved somehow. Just because they're relatively upfront about it doesn't make it not a grift. It's basically soliciting donorations. That's exactly what makes it not a grift.

  16. The Rams are a great team?
  17. He strikes me more as the old school pre-pandemic California yoga mom loony bin liberal sort of anti-vaxxer.
  18. Heel turn complete
  19. If you knew when it happened, why did you ask when it happened?
  20. How on earth is that better than Arlington Heights? They both look to be about the same distance from downtown.
  21. Didn't Walter Payton's ghost block a game winning field goal? I think this one broke a pretty long Packers winning streak over the Bears.
  22. Wasn’t he hurt and/or fighting injuries during some of that though? A bit but he didn't miss a game in 18 or 19. And being injured doesn't really support the argument that the Love pick was terrible. For the record, I hated the Love pick. But I do think it was justifiable, from a hard numbers standpoint, and you cannot factor Rodgers' resurgence into how you view the decision.
  23. It's easy to say that now, after arguably the best statistical season of his career. But when the decision was made he was 36 coming off of a three year stretch of not really being a superstar anymore (he wasn't top ten in QB rating or top 15 in QBR in either 2018 or 2019). Hard to make the cap work when you are paying a guy like a top quarterback when he isn't playing like one. And there is no way they want to move on from Rodgers at this point, although they might not have a choice.
  24. I'd happily give him the whole net worth of the entire Ricketts family.
  25. Have multiple people in this thread forgotten that Dawson is in the real Hall of Fame?
