  1. Ump didn't want to hear Jimmy crying.
  2. maddux just put one right down the middle for a ball
  3., my mom - "what is einstein (eckstein) a MIDGET??"
  4. Bobby Brownlie is going to trip on a ball and land on his right shoulder shagging fly-balls pre-game for Iowa, after recovery his velocity will return. He will not discover his returned velocity until he catches a visitors home run at Wrigley Field and tosses the ball back like tradition states. Cubs management buys his contract from AAA Iowa, and Bobby leads the Cubs to the world series, and he wins rookie of the year.....
  5. Using logic (which Cubs don't usually do), Koronka is not here to start. The next two starters are Maddux and Zambrano, so unless Zambrano is missing a start (aka someone killed him), he'd have been called up to sit and wait for Williams or Hill's spot. That is just not done, so I think If they are bumping out Williams or Hill, he's a place holder/fresh arm for the ragged bullpen until Saturday or Monday. Maybe we'll see Pinto's big league debut on Monday (his day to pitch). He's the only healthy/non-terrible starting pitcher on the 40-man that could be called on.
  6. I agree that Woody looked awesome, but he did walk the first batter so it wasn't perfect. Like I said in the game thread, I bet alot of media people will point to that and say Wood should be converted to closer. I don't quite think we're to that point, but it looks like he could do it.
  7. I'd do a A-Rod for Lee. and if we're trading Lee would anyone be against finding out what Brewers are going to want for Overbay?? (might have to go through another team, if Brewers won't trade him to the central).
  8. Play for WT through the playoffs, and than in Sept. make a couple of starts IN Chicago. He's on the 40 man, might as well see what he can do in the big leauges when the games don't matter.
  9. definately paper bag on the head.... bonus points if you put go cobs! on it.
  10. ok it's good to know you weren't the jerk, at the game today with cardinals stuff on (he was shown on tv when they mentioned the channels for the games this weekend). Everytime I see a cards fan in wrigley, either in person or on tv, I assume you
  11. OMGZ MORE 9TH INNING POINTLESS RUNS!!!
  12. I think Wood for closer talk is going to go way up throughout the media. He's been lights out from the bullpen.
  13. wood was freakin filthy there, 2 GUYS TOSSED THEIR BATS ON SWINGS.
  14. is there a chance we luck into a win against STL.... 12 game losing streak?
  15. actually after being "this close" to the series, he made a ton of additions (2003->2004). AFter the complete failure of that team down the stretch, he didn't add, but subtracted (2004->2005).
  16. Doesn't look like he has the tree trunk calves though :D
  17. http://us.news1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/rids/20050810/i/r1241516085.jpg
  18. oh boy, I can almost hear Williamson tendons ripping and popping.
  19. With Harden & Zito nearly doing back-to-back no-no's, to the Rangers, I bet they could get the job done against the Cubs.
  20. TODD HOLLANDSWORTH (getting dusty to use Todd properly would be a start)
