    with all due respect, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. That's like Bears fans who say "I don't care how we do overall as long as we beat the Packers". So you'd be okay if the Cubs lost 90 games every year as long as they won at least 9 from St. Louis each season? THIS YEAR. That's obviously not my hope for every year. It's just that I have no faith in anything good happening for this year, so if we end with a winning record against our hated rivals and the best NL team that's something good.

    I understand where you're coming from, but you sound like all too many Sox fans do against the Cubs. Just want something positive about the season, and at least the Cards are our real rivals.

    I think if we can end the year with a winning record against the Cardinals, it won't be a complete failure.
