  2. - Cumiskey has been solid. He's mobile and moves the puck out of the zone nicely. - Agreed that Timmonen looks cooked. - The 2nd OT looked slower for everyone, including the Ducks defenders who stood in cement while Vermette ended the game. - The Hawks had at least a half-dozen straight-on looks at Anderson. Maybe more. He's just been very good. - We also hit the crossbar a couple of times. Bickell should have had one but was unlucky. He was good last night, taking the body every chance he got and getting in the "dirty areas". - I don't know exactly what Dejardins was doing last night in our zone. He would sort of float in a zone rather than supporting the defensman on the puck. - The Ducks do a really nice job of blocking shooting lanes, but if you do what the Hawks did tonight - catch them crashing the net and pinching in our zone and then following your shots - that can be exposed.
  3. Yeah this isn't shiny toy syndrome. The CORSI numbers back it up - TT and Vermette are far better than Nordstrom and Versteeg.
  4. Hard to disagree, though I sometimes get killed around here for questioning Q.
  5. I dunno, he played Cumiskey who hadn't seen competitive ice in a month......
  6. This is the part that bothers me the most. Kruger didn't take any FO's, so basically Q's puck possession team traded Vermette and Kruger for Shaw and Nordstrom. Additionally, the 3rd and 4th lines were the best on the team (CORSI) in Games 1 and 2. In short, unless TT and Vermette couldn't walk, this is Q's darkest hour in years. The PP wasn't good either, but it was largely the same problem they had during 5-5 play: stop being cute and put the damn puck on the net. The Ducks are allowing zone entry and dropping back to control shooting lanes and rebounds. If you find a seam and exploit it, don't deke eight times and or wait and look for the perfect shot; just shoot the thing and create havoc! Force the defenders to move out of position so that your teammates can follow-up and find good looks off of rebounds. There must have been 10 occasions last night when we had the opportunity to do this and lost the puck into the corner or behind the net in a scrum as a result of being too cute or waiting for the "perfect look". (BTW, Cumiskey did ok last night and made a few nice stretch passes exiting the zone)
  7. That could even alienate genuine fans. I would watch because I like TB.
  8. We suck tonight. Too fine with the puck and not aggressive going to the net.
  9. With Shaw as his Center? Yeah, its just a waste. The lines should go back to Sharp-Vermette-TT and Shaw-Kruger-Desjardins. Freaking Q out-thinks himself again.
  10. Keith is the only guy on the ice who seems to understand that you have to put the puck on the net in order to score. If the look breaks down get it in deep or put to on him for the love of [expletive].
  11. Agreed - 3rd and 4th lines are a mess. never should have benched Vermette or TT. Sharp has been invisible.
  12. Too much [expletive] around and too little shooting. The possession numbers have to be good, but its like we are waiting for the perfect look rather than getting the g-damn puck on the net.
  13. He's slow and can get knocked off the puck, but he's not out of position or turning it over.
  14. I don't think I have ever seen a captain cry as much as Getzlaf does
  15. I wonder if it would kill them to put a freaking body on Perry. Their strategy on offense is one of two looks: 3 man umbrella on top with 2 guys on Craw, or a simple cycle from behind the net and around the boards. They stopped doing the later because the Hawks clamped down on it The last goal was the former.
  16. Late to the party here, but I can't understand why Vermette isn't playing. You can see the difference in our zone. Versteeg does a poor job there.
  17. Yeah, my only complaint is how fugly it is. I vividly recall my initial reaction, peering down from a window on S. Michigan Ave, as they dropped in the oval framework. What an absolute sac-relig, especially surrounded as it is by the gorgeous buildings on the Museum Campus.
  18. Yeah, Soldier Field has always been less than stellar, but goony had it right: all football stadiums are horrible, except for a few on college campuses. The parking situation is fine and if you're walking from the Metra in December you need your head examined any way. Uber has made it all more convenient, IMO. I'd much rather stay home any way. Watching football in-person is almost never an enjoyable experience anywhere.
  19. I think what I admire most about the Theo's, Hoyer's, and Cherrington's of the world is how they take all the noise (data/potential decisions) and narrow it down to simple and easily implemented strategies and philosophies for acquiring talent. It was must be a joy to be a scout working with these guys. They give you the framework and you go find the players.
  20. just because you're a mod doesn't mean you should use ethnic slurs LOL
