  1. At the least Soto has likely won the starting gig for next season. You can keep Blanco as the back up if he doesn't hang em up.
  2. I do feel his pain when he said what it felt like. No kidding. I still love the guy, even if he has one nut left.
  3. Adam Dunn K debate, take 20!!!
  4. when it's your turn, you can call the thread whatever you want. And in the interim I will feel free to comment on posts that I don't agree with. Thanks!
  5. They'll win tonight. I don't get why anyone would panic over last night, unless it repeats itself tonight and perhaps tomorrow. BTW, the title of this thread is dumb. Just sayin'.
  6. Correct. Add Tejada or ARod to this lineup and you have: Soriano Theriot Lee ARod/Tejada ARam Derosa (RF) Kendall / Soto Pie / Jones Looks quite a bit different, IMO.
  7. 3/21 was an overpay, just becasue I can't see him getting offers that were close to that this offseason. However, his results have definitely been worth more than 7M a season. And I think Larry deserves a ton of credit for this. This is the point that get's lost in the shuffle too often. Larry has done a very nice job this year. How many guys have rotated in and out of that bullpen?
  8. I like the The Riot. He's not a world-beater; he doesn't suck either. He's a decent player whose weaknesses are magnified by the fact that this team's lineup is mediocre.
  9. yeah, i saw that. I don't know if any other sites stream the video or audio. I checked you tube earlier; no dice.
  10. You're joking, right? I'll admit he made some good signings this past offseason, but that doesn't undo the damage he did in 2005 and 2006. The Cubs still are far behind where they were in 2003 and 2004; they just have the good fortune this year to be the least crappy in a crappy division. He doesn't deserve an extension simply for partially recovering from his past incompetence. Pretty sure he was kidding. I think Lou is a good influence on Jim. That does not make up for his past mistakes, but the partnership is a far better one than what we suffered through over the past several years. The bets part of all of this is that Lou isn't afraid to ding crappy vets for young guys.
  11. Bump Anybody help? Please? 8-[
  12. ...was great. Very funny. Anyone know where I might find it? For those of you who did not hear it, its well worth it - reflected the moment perfectly.
  13. Totally agree. Perhaps he is right, but his injury history (which is longer than my...well its long) suggests otherwise. That said, I hope he's right. Guz's stuff is electric.
  14. I'm not sure if Wood had TJS. *shrug* Yes, in '99 I was actually thinking of highly touted Cubs pitching prospects whose careers just stalled outright after they spent some time in the majors. Not very scientific, I know. I did not count Woody b/c he spent quite a bit of time up here and is still on the ML roster (though who knows for how long). Plus I am holding out hope that he can still pitch as a short reliever.
  15. Agree with every single word. Lou seems to understand that your best relievers need to be around for when all hell is breaking loose in the 6th, 7th and 8th. Marmol and Howry are clearly the two best.
  16. Mike reminds me of the classic Lennon song, "Watching the Wheels".
  17. I also think that Lou is implicity acknowledging that Howry and Marmol are better picthers and more important to the team. I think he's right. Ooops...
  18. He can still go at least once tomorrow, no?
  19. I think its time to acknowledge that Hendry did a nice job getting Ward and DeRosa at relatively low prices. He's screwed up a bunch of other stuff, but deserves kudos for getting those guys. MAN I LOVE IT WHEN WE HAVE GAMES LIKE THIS!!!!
  20. That really sucks. Let's make a list: Lance Dickson Mike Harkey Mark Prior Angel Guzman
  21. Agreed, but I hope he starts freakin pounding the ball in the interim.
  22. Oh crap career threatening surgery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That has been their theme, eh? I'm glad Lee had the day off and I was hoping Lou was going to do it anyway, He looks like he needs a day off to recharge. Good thing it did not come back to bite us in the posterior. Hope he's okay for tonight. Wards a nice back up though. Hope we bring him back next season on another one yr deal with a mutual option for a second.
  23. Anyone have one? I may be in front of the t.v. a bit today so I will post it if I see one. In the interim, what do we know so far?
  24. Why the heck are you bunting in that spot?
