  1. Williamson has definately proven he can be an excellent RP. If there is a competetion for 2nd best RP behind Dempster, Howry & maybe Weurtz should be right there. There is a possibility all 3 of them could have better years than Dempster, let's hope that's not the case & Dempster continues his brilliance as a closer.
  2. They will want a front-line starter like Z or Prior, just like what Philly & Baltimore asked for their top offensive players.
  3. Jan. 23, 2006 - 5:28 pm et Braves agreed to terms with LHP Mike Remlinger on a minor league contract. Leo Mazzone, who probably was greatly responsible for turning Remlinger's career around back in 1999, is no longer around, so it looks like something of a long shot that the Braves will get anything out of the soon-to-be 40-year-old. At best, maybe he'll be an adequate middle reliever.
  4. Probably a minor leaguer or marginal ML player. Considering the lack of interest in Walker this offseason, I think Hendry will gladly take any offer he can get. Futhermore, I think Hendry wants to make room for Lugo at 2B. How about we get Lugo first before we trade away our best alternate option? IMO Walker> Lugo. Hendry would be downgrading. Again. There is no comparison: Walker is a 2B & Lugo is a SS
  5. Personally I don't see Wood starting until July or August at the earliest and maybe not even at all this year. I see him working in the pen so he can get ready to sign a big deal with another team next year. Is this a gut feeling?
  6. Assuming Lee is #3 & Ramirez is #4, who do you think is the best candidate on the Cubs roster to insert in the #5 hole?
  7. Beat you to it. Yes you did. Did you read the Rob Neyer article? He had some interesting stats on why both the Twins & Indians will be better than the White Sox next year, along with some other interesting stuff.
  8. Here's another interesting tid-bit from that Stark Insider article: • The Orioles are concerned enough about Brian Roberts' recovery from a dislocated elbow that they're talking to the Cubs about Todd Walker.
  9. I've got Pitt & Seattle I will be really suprised if it's Carolina & Pitt, like somelse in this thread has suggested.
  10. Here's someone who graded the Cubs off-season with a B: (sorry pessimists) http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writers/john_donovan/01/19/nl.grades/1.html
  11. & you will still think this if he reverts back to his 02'/03' numbers? that's not going to happen, those were his prime years. yes it could happen
  12. & who was that impact player that you knew for ceratin was avaliable?
  13. WoW! But I think Grieve could do a .260/.350/.440 line. .350??? WoW
  14. & you will still think this if he reverts back to his 02'/03' numbers?
  15. Your comparing Pierre's worst year to Eckstein's best
  16. Orioles agreed to terms with outfielder Corey Patterson on a one-year, $2.8 million contract. It's the same salary he received a year ago, when he hit .215/.254/.348 in 451 AB for the Cubs. Jan. 17 - 6:17 pm et
  17. Any guesses on who will be the starter @ 2nd for the Cubs in 07'? Both JHJR & Walker are FA's. Will the Cubs go the FA route or will they promote within like what is happening with both Murton & Cedeno? Who has the best chance out of this minor league group to make the big club as the starting 2nd baseman in 07?
  18. IF the AL gets rid of the DH then I'm fine with Interleague play. Right now the schedule is very unbalanced & unfair.
