  1. And a linebacker that can stay with their skilled tight ends.
  2. You don't like blue jerseys from a team who's primary color is blue? The greys should be burned if you ask me. Keep the blues and the pinstripes. Why is every team suddenly going to red uniforms? Astros a few years back, Dbacks this year, Pirates....
  3. Yeah, I always here about how the Bears play the cover 2 defense all the time, but then I read the sports illustrated article where they asked Urlacher how the defense works. He said they only go to cover 2 probably 25-30% of the time. And if they're losing, they have to abandon it almost completely.
  4. It's a little shaky and the audio is about 1 sec behind video, but still a pretty awesome scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ihk24PUXW60 Thanks. Being at that game is a memory I will NEVER forget. I'll also never forget the feeling I had right after they lost. You want to know why the concrete is falling at Wrigley? That stadium was literally shaking and vibrating from all of the people going nuts.
  5. I found myself doing that once. Don't you just feel dirty now?
  6. I was sitting about 20 rows behind these guys. Definitely was my high point of the 2006 Cubs season.
  7. That first video had some very painful memories in it. I cannot wait for the season to start. Does anyone know where I can find a copy of the Kerry Wood game 7 home run? It was on youtube before Bud Selig stole it back, but now I don't know where to look. I'd love to have that on my computer.
  8. Not sure if it's been posted yet since I've been out of this thread for a while (if it has been, just ignore it.), but ESPN's bottom line just said that the NFL fined Reggie Bush $5,000 for taunting Urlacher. Seemed a little excessive to me, but hey, he shouldn't have done it.
  9. Alright, it's 2 AM, and I don't feel like going back and reading the last five to seven pages of posts that I've missed tonight. But I thought some of you would find this interesting. Me and a couple buddies of mine went out to Kendall's Bar on Lincoln tonight (right by DePaul), and we were there for quite some time. A buddy of mine that I haven't seen for a few months walks over and says, "Hey, get a load of hippie Orton over there." And we all laughed thinking there was some guy that looked like Kyle Orton in the bar. But no, sure enough, we were sitting at the table next to Kyle Orton the whole night, and no one even noticed. Actually, I should say... no one even cared. My buddy kept bumping into him and calling him a jackass the whole time for taking up so much space. Even after we saw him, we made a few jokes about how he shouldn't be at the bar, because the Bears might need him as a replacement waterboy, and then went back to our beers. The bar even played "Bear Down" over the soundsystem, and turned the light on above his table, and still, no one seemed to notice or care. Just thought that was funny.
  10. As a decoy, maybe. If the Colts saw him in the field offensively, they'd think something was up. Or, if you want him to have the ball, run a reverse and hope he gets to the corner first. Or possibly a trick play with a hook and ladder type situation. Both risky, but they'd be fun to watch.
  11. Anyone else think Sorgi wet his pants when Peyton said that to him? That guy has the greatest job in the world. He doesn't have to do anything.
  12. Poll on ESPN.com right now: Who is the worst Superbowl quarterback ever? - Trent Dilfer - Tony Eason - Vince Ferragamo - Rex Grossman - David Woodley Grossman is actually winning (which is completely ridiculous). Only been 39,000 votes, but he has a third of them. Honestly, I would LOVE to see Rex have the game of his life. If he somehow threw for like 400 yards, I would probably pass out from laughing so hard. I know it probably won't happen, but damn, leave the guy alone.
  13. The names on the list don't make it a great record. Besides, he had 2 games this season with longs under 10, 3 if you count the first playoff game. By my count he had 27. And I just read a story that Shaun Alexander eclipsed Barry Sanders at 60. No, the names on the list don't make it a great record, it just shows that he did something that they could not do. But obviously Barry Sanders wasn't one of the guys he was ahead of.
  14. It's certainly possible that he could be very good, but you're going to have to accept that he won't break many long runs, and he'll have his limitations. I saw Jones make at least three runs where there's just no way Benson could've broken them like Jones did. He'll have more positive yardage plays, but not as many where he bounces outside or uses a burst to bust a big run. Jones doesn't break long runs. Neither one of them does. But doesn't Jones have some insane streak of consecutive games with at least a ten yard run? Not sure if it's over or not, but it was impressive to see. Is that really all that impressive? One 10 yard run a game isn't much of an accomplishment, especially when you play on a good team that's never getting blown out and often playing with leads. It is when you see who he was ahead of on that list. I believe Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, etc. were all behind him. I could be wrong, but I remember him being in some very exclusive company.

  16. I won't be able to listen, can someone give a recap after it's over? Thanks.
  17. I think special teams are going to play a bigger role in this game than people think. If the Bears can get good field position from their special teams on a consistent basis, it's going to take a lot of pressure off of that offense because Rex will only have to gain a small amount of yardage to get into Gould's range. The Colts are vulnerable on kick returns (from what I've seen, especially last game. I may have just witnessed a bad game though). And if our kick returners can exploit that, I like the Bears odds of putting up a good amount of points.
  18. I don't think that's true at all, especially on this board, where fans tend to be more informed than the average fan. From what I've seen, the Bears have the best defense in the league, but a below-average quarterback and an offensive line that isn't always good enough to keep pressure off him - which is when he really struggles. I think the Colts will win because I think they're a bad matchup for the Bears - they're the best passing team in the league, and that's where the Bears can be beat. I hope for the Bears' sake that they don't buy into the "let's just run the ball all game like Jacksonville did" bull. This isn't 1994-95 Nebraska versus Baylor, these are two really good NFL teams playing in the Super Bowl. I'd like for the Super Bowl to be competitive, especially since I won't be able to watch until the second half. Actually, New Orleans was the best passing team in the league, and it didn't help them much. In passing yards, yes, but Indy is certainly the more efficient passing team. The game was played in weather not conducive to throwing the ball a lot, and the Saints were missing Joe Horn, who's either their best or second-best receiving threat. The Colts have all their receivers healthy and unless there's a front near south Florida, the weather shouldn't slow down the Colts' passing attack. I thought Stokely was out for the year.
  19. Yes, they blitz more now than when they had Harris, but if you watch, you'll see that they still don't blitz nearly as much as other teams. And if the front four is actually getting pressure, they abandon the blitz almost entirely because it's unnecessary. And many times, when they do blitz, it's actually in running situations. The loss of Harris really does throw a wrench into that defense though.
  20. Also be careful blitzing Manning too much...he can make you pay. The Bears are not a blitzing team. They haven't been all year. They get the majority of the pressure from their front four, while Briggs, Urlacher, and Hillenmeyer drop back into their coverages. Occasionally you'll see Briggs or Urlacher come on a blitz, but it's pretty rare. They do show blitz quite often and back off into coverage though. And yes, the problem with blitzing the Colts is, if you don't get to Manning, he will make you pay because there is now an open spot somewhere on the field.
  21. Hell, we had two posters on this message board who said similar things, one of which said the EXACT same thing that poster said. That said, I certainly hope that posters like that weren't allowed into the stadium. While it's completely tasteless, I don't think it should be taken literally. That's all part of what happens when we accept things like taunting, trash talk, smack and all that junk in sports. A lack of respect for the opponent is evident on the field and in the stands, and has been for a while. That sign has nothing to do with lack of respect for the opponent. It's not like his sign says "The Saints are bad at football." And I hope someone found this guy in the parking lot and "had a few words" with him.
  22. I'm a bigger fan of this one, but it might be too big for an avatar. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/m_scafide/thatpepsigirl2.gif WHo is this girl, and why does she like Pepsi so much? Her name is Mandy Amano. But she's more affectionately known as "That Pepsi Girl." http://thatpepsigirl.blogspot.com/
