  1. April 22nd, vs. St. Louis The first two games of the series will be hard fought, but the third will feature a meltdown from both Sweet Lou, and LaRussa, after a bean ball war.
  2. I'm sure there are a couple people from this board down there that will post a couple soon. They better hurry up though, I'm getting antsy...
  3. Most of the Cubs info I find, I find on here before I see it anywhere else. People on this site are notoriously good at getting info out as soon as it becomes available. But if you're in the Chicago area, I recommend the Score or ESPN radio to a lesser extent. You have to sit through a bunch of BS sometimes, and possibly the occasional ignorant caller, but they're decent with their info.
  4. Eh, if it sucks, I'll quit. Fair enough. :)
  5. I've had many friends that have worked, and still do work for the Cubs. Trust me, it's no picnic. Many have quit because they aren't the glory jobs you're thinking they are. And the ones that are still there complain about their jobs constantly.
  6. I might be mistaken, but from what I heard, The Bigs is supposedly an NBA Jam type game in terms of realism. Someone else compared it to NFL Street. I'm sure it'll be an entertaining game, but not if you want a realistic baseball game. Then again, I'm anti-Wii, so I may have heard wrong. I don't look up Wii games.
  7. Define working out! The extra weight does not help keep the players healthy and we all know the Cubs have had a problem with the DL. I've heard Wood also has shed some pounds. Last I'd heard on the Score, Wood had lost 30 pounds.
  8. It makes sense if you think about it though. If he falls past 2 because of Adrian Peterson, a lot of the teams in the 3-9 ranges aren't looking to draft quarterbacks. Maybe Minnesota at 7, but from what I've heard, Cleveland won't be taking one, and neither will Tampa Bay. Arizona doesn't need one, and Washington isn't in the market for one apparently.
  9. Eh, barring a monumental collapse, they're in the Big East Tourney. But then again, this is DePaul. Anything can happen with those guys.
  10. It's a shame DePaul is so incredibly inconsistent. They've shown that they can at least hang with some of the better teams in the country. Beating Kansas was one of the bigger wins the program has had in the past 10-15 years. But they shot themselves in the foot, and are most likely NIT bound. (Unless they somehow run the table on the rest of their regular season games, and win a game or two in the Big East tourney. To do that they'd have to beat Notre Dame again (on the road), plus Marquette next week.)
  11. And it's still a big man that has to hit two free throws to win it. Game wasn't "stolen". I think a foul should've been called, but just because a foul is called doesn't mean ND wins that game.
  12. Yeah, they did foul him on that last shot... But as a former DePaul athlete I must say... GO BLUE DEMONS! First they beat Kansas, then Notre Dame... is Marquette next? Probably not, but one can dream.
  13. That is pretty cool. God, the party I was at went absolutely nuts after that. Too bad it was all downhill from there. :(
  14. While it's a nice thought (just think of a lineup that features ARod, Lee, Soriano, Ramirez, etc.), I have a feeling ARod is going to have a good year in New York. And if that's the case, I wouldn't be surprised to see him stay there. Just my gut feeling though, and those are usually wrong.
  15. Rex needs to learn to tuck the ball and take off sometimes too. Just because it's a passing play doesn't mean the ball HAS to be thrown. If it's not there, and you have a lane, tuck the ball, and get positive yardage. IMO, he didn't do that nearly enough this year. Plus, it'll make the linebackers think twice and have to keep their eye on him if they know he's capable of running for 6 or 7 yards.
  16. Pretty sure it was Harris. It was Manning. He played FS. Urlacher ripped into Manning on the sideline following that TD. I think Simms pointed out Manning and called him Harris on that play, if memory serves. Probably why I was confused. Urlacher ripped him on the sidelines and then said (after the game) it was a communication problem that was his (Urlacher) fault b/c he didn't get the play in fast enough and didn't communicate it to everyone. :? Urlacher is the type of guy that would take the heat for any defensive mishap publicly though. He knows he can handle the criticism, and he is the leader of the defense. Much like an officer in the military, he'll take the blame for the entire unit's mistake. He sees their failure as his own failure. Hard to find a guy like that these days. Most guys try to pass off blame. Now I'm sure they iron out who's fault it really was in private though.
  17. And from everything I've heard, Schaub is the quarterback of the future in Atlanta once the Michael Vick experiment is over. I know Vick is a Falcon for next year, but after that, they might want to switch to a more traditional qb, rather than a running back with an arm.
  18. 10 days and 56 minutes till pitchers and catchers report...
  19. The only positive for me right now... 10 days until pitchers and catchers report. Nice season Bears, title or not.
  20. Alright gentlemen, this will be my last post until after the game. I need to get into Superbowl mode, and that requires me getting far away from my computer and preparing for my Superbowl party. Just wanted to give one last GO BEARS!
  21. Wow, stunned that Harper practiced after all the talk of him on Friday. Well, it was just a 75-minute walk-through. Unless it's a career ending type of threat, I don't see how anyone would miss this game. It's the last game of the year. You have nothing else to rest up for. You have the entire offseason to recover. I know they may not be 100%, and could possibly hurt the team if they played, but if I were them, I'd at least dress and be ready to go in at any time.
  22. Well I'm heading over to Wrigleyville at 1 and planning on holding a table until after the game. It's going to be a looooong and great day Um, if you wait till 1, you won't get a table. It's 11 a.m., and there are already lines outside of many of the bars.
  23. Not even close. I feel the same way. The Bears are great and all (and my favorite football team by far), but they will never be on the same level as the Cubs. At least not to me. I was at game 7 of the NLCS, and I can guarantee a Bears loss wouldn't have the same effect on me.
  24. Why is wikipedia trying to jenx us? :-s
  25. Nah, spring training is coming up. If the Bears lose, there will be a few days of sadness, but this is a Cubs site. The thought of the Cubs starting up will bring everyone back up. Of course, that's only if they lose. If they win, expect months of jubilation. :)
