  1. Here's an idea, why don't we improve the team by getting more good players instead of by getting rid of the few good ones we have? I'd be up for that, too.
  2. Are you listening, Jim Hendry? This man knows what he's talking about.
  3. And what kind of message would that send to any potential FA's?
  4. No, that wouldn't. But I'm saying something like that would be required if you moved Lee. If you just trade him for a bunch of prospects, even really really good ones, would not sit well with the average Cub fan. You'd need to bring in a marquee player like an A-Rod to sell a Lee trade to Cub fans. I don't think A-Rod is for sale, though, is he? He's putting together a pretty good year for the Yanks.
  5. The very few optimists left have to be in denial. That's the only way I can think of that can justify still thinking this team has a chance.
  6. ahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahha actually i just bought these sunday. oops? Oops indeed. Hope you didnt pay that much for them. If you did, please get drunk of your arse and do something so stupid thatll get you on TV. You know, like climbing on the net behind home plate. Oops, someone beat you to that.
  7. Yeah. Mark your territory!! Uh, wait......
  8. I'd do that. In fact, I HAVE done that. I think it was a game in Milwaukee in 2002 in which we were mired in a slump very much like this.
  9. Yankees overpaid for AVG players and most of them are getting old now. Their GM is probably one of the worst in baseball. What's our excuse? Most of the players on the Yankees aren't average, they just aren't having good years. Same could be said for some of the Cubs They overpaid for Wright and Pavanno. Those are the two I was ensinuating to. A lot of that was Stienbrenner's doing. The Yanks were doing ok until George pretty much took over all the GM duties. Wasn't it Cashman who pretty much built the 1996 and 1998-2000 championship teams?
  10. He could have handled the Sammy situation much better, assuming it was HIM that released the video to the media of Sammy leaving early (of which nobody has seen) and made it publicly known that the Cubs were desperate to get rid of Sammy.
  11. Unfortunately he wasn't able to call me the night our interview was scheduled and then he got called up. Maybe this is some sort of reverse NSBB energy going on. The Curse of NSBB?
  12. Actually I can't speak for others on here, but last year was way worse than this year. I guess part of that is because I didn't expect anything out of this year's team, but at least they are getting it over with quickly and crapping the bed nice and early. Last year's team had no reason not to make the playoffs, going up against "playing out the season" teams like the Reds and Mets, but the Cubs collapsed the last 2 weeks... choked, basically. I was at the Cubs-Mets game last year where the Cubs blew a 3-run lead in the 9th inning, thanks to Dumpster and Latrocious. That was brutal. This year, it's just a mediocre team getting put out of its misery early. Besides, aside from baseball I root for the Philadelphia teams, so by this point I'm pretty numb to disappointment. I come into every season expecting the team I root for to lose in the most agonizing way possible... so by that measure, this season was relatively painless. Yeah, that's what I do too. I expect the worst and hope for the best. It doesn't hurt as bad that way.
  13. If it would bring us an A-Rod type, I'd most definately trade Lee. However, Lee has quickly become a leader on this team, and a fan favorite. You'd really have to sell it to the fans. I don't think they'd take trading Lee for just prospects. You'd have to land an A-Rod in that type of deal.
  14. What happened? What'd he do? He struck out, the ball got away from the catcher and Burnitz didn't even make a motion to first. It wasn't like the catcher just dropped the ball in front, it got a few feet behind him. not only didnt he make a motion to first he was already walking towards the dugout with his head down. Yeah, they've mailed it in. I say the Reds drop at least 15 on us today. Possibly 20.
  15. I wouldn't be so sure. Through the years, this team has never failed to shock me by keeping the biggest boneheads around and getting rid of the smart people.
  16. 8 in a row, boys. We've had 7 in a row twice this year, correct?
  17. This is what happens when you don't have a legit backup 1B man. And don't gimmie Hollandsworth. He's had all of 3 games at first in his career. If u bench lee, its walker at 1st, and neifi at 2nd Or, if people insist, Hollandsworth at 1st, Murton in left. Just for a game or two. He really needs a day or so off to recharge.
  18. You're a little late there. At least he wasn't premature. ;)

  20. Haha. That didn't take long, now did it?
