  1. They need to get going again -- don't want the Yankees sneaking into the wild card spot. Exactly. The Yanks are starting to heat it up.
  2. day-to-day It was just back stiffness, thankfully.
  3. it's reassuring to hear that the cubs' AAA hitting coach accomplished something in three weeks that our major league hitting coaches couldn't do in three seasons. Do you mean "reassuring" or "sad"?
  4. I think the evolution of the closer has a lot to do with it as well. Baseball is a highly specialized game now. Managers would much rather have a fresh pitcher in the 9th to hitters who are likely tired and thier bats may be just a hair slower.
  5. If you're really puking blood, I hope you see a doctor. :? Yeah, that's not right. Get some medical help or something. Seriously.
  6. CUBS WIN!!! Boy, they like to give you a heart attack while doing it, though, don't they?
  7. ANOTHER FREAKING DEFENSIVE MISCUE!! Dammit, Dempster.
  8. Yeah, he seems gassed. Bring in Kerry to blow them away. He's done that to Houston before, IIRC. ;)
  9. And that the time him with a sundial when he does run them out.
  10. Aw dammit. There had better be nothing wrong with Nomar again.
  11. lol no, just for the record I love the way Walker plays, I love his game, and I want to see him as the starting 2B man next year.
  12. You really have to try to suck that bad.
  13. Damn, I remember watching that game on TV. I was 9, going on 10. I ate, breathed, slept, and ate the Cubs and Andre was my favorite player. I was jumping up and down and running all over the house screaming when Andre hit that grand slam. Then my babysitter walked in and looked at me like I was an idiot. I got sent to my room for throwing things when they blew that game in the 9th. I don't think I've ever been that pissed at the Cubs in my life up until Game 6.
  14. Remlinger gave up a grand slam in the 10th to Craig Monroe, but the Red Sox won anyway. 11 runs in that 10th inning, and this is only the 4th time in MLB history where a team hit a grand slam in extra innings and lost.
  15. I thought his OBP would be higher. But at least he's hitting decent.
  16. Perhaps he was talking about Neifi? I was. Who did Zaphkiel think I was talking about?
  17. Nice to see that he had an RBI yesterday. Maybe he figured out whatever he was doing wrong.
  18. That's the way it should be. If baseball was meant to be played at night there would be enough light in which to do so.
  19. Yeah, who wants a .300 hitting second baseman making so little? Yeah. We need more SS/2B/3B types who walk about once a month, hit .220, and hit into DP's every time there's a runner on first. After all, that's how you win championships.
  20. Why did we pull Neifi back? Geez, we had a chance to get rid of one of Dusty's toys and we didnt do it.
  21. Just say no to Preston Wilson.
  22. I'm still for signing that elephant.
  23. Yeah, that's what I thought was going on too. That's why this thread confused me at first. But anyway, I don't know if I'd go as high as 4.5 for Nomar. For one, we could easily sign him for less and there'd be almost nothing he could do about it. And if we wanted to give him more, we could give him an incentive based contract where he'd make 2.5 base and have the opportunity to go as high as 6 mil based on plate appearances, etc. If he's going to ask for too much money, I think we have a major league ready SS just itching for his chance to prove himself. (Cedeno) Well yes, if we can sign him for less, do so, but if you HAVE to go as high as 4.5, I think it would be wise.
