  1. This isn't "crunch time". This is "we've been crunched" time. No doubt we are done for, but the organization doesn't see it this way. They are not smart enough to. Still though, his injuries are staritng ot catch up to him. They'll completely blow out Kerry's arm before calling it a season. They woudln't be the Cubs otherwise.
  2. Only 15 pages for a game thread? Geez, people really have written off the season. Not that i blame them.
  3. If I was a FA I think I'd take less money to not play for the Cubs.
  4. Can we make a trade? That Yankees team is tailor made for Dusty. All veterans when healthy, etc., etc. I don't think, really. Look at Williams, Rivera, Jeter, etc. None of them would have gotten a shot under Dusty. Stienbrenner is smart enough to not hire Baker.
  5. That doesn't stop people from pretty much convicting Sammy.
  6. As I stated before, would it be that bad if the Cubs got away from the home run? We have Lee, we have Ramirez. Nomar is a good hitter, Walker is good, Barrett can hit you 25 homers per year, and maybe we can trade for a good outfielder in the offseason. What this team needs is not another power hitter, but a guy with a high ba/obp who we can build the lineup around. Power does not equal Home runs. There's cause for concern that Murton will not hit enough non-singles to be considered a productive corner outfielder. Well, I guess there's only one way to find that out, isn't there?

  8. You never know...they must just find a way. This is the Cubs. Never doubt the depths to which they can suck.
  9. Yes, but was the Shawon-o-meter ever consistently that low?
  10. If they just want him to hit more doubles and split more gaps, ok, I'm totally 100% ok with that. But I don't care if he doesn't hit a lot of home runs. And Dusty is a fool for not playing him. Well, he's a fool anyway, but this just amplifies it.
  11. Did Mark Grace's lack of power at a "power position" hurt us when he was in the lineup? I'd gladly take a guy who hits .300 with 15 homers in this lineup any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I don't care about his lack of power. Don't screw with his swing to where he'll hit 30 homers a year but then you sacrifice 30 points on his BA. He's just fine the way he is.... a good 2-hole hitter. We can make up the power other places. And even if we don't, would anyone here really be sad to see the Cubs lineup not live and die by the home run anymore?
  12. Huh? B& B& B& Is there any proof?
  13. Erik, I think you are being too generous. I don't think he's in a Cub uniform after the 2005 season. I have it on good authority that Hendry will do everything he can to trade Patterson during the offseason, low value or not. Hendry is absolutely pissed off at Corey's play and attitude since he has returned. And, seeing 5 pitches in 4 at bats last night was just the icing on the cake. Although he probably won't play with the major league team this year, I get the strong sense that the Felix Pie in CF era is set to start in March. Hoops That works for me, Hoops. You know better than I do. Any clue who may be interested?
  14. Corey has one last shot in 2006, IMO. If he sucks, he'll be gone midseason or at the latest by 2007.
  15. Forgive me for posting something you didn't agree with. Seeing as Raffy has been in the news quite a bit lately, I thought it was post-worthy.
  16. In other news... Dusty called for a suicide squeeze? Holy crap!!
  17. 1 run will not win this game. Come on, Glendon, a grounder and we're out of the inning.
  18. Where are you, Nomar?? Grrrrr.... stupid Dusty.
