  1. It was sometimes hard to decipher but he provided info very few of us had. Also Flames is a Packer fan. That's why he got my vote! OOoooooh! :shakesfist: Uh oh. Seems I cost myself a vote in a few days.

  3. Even though US likes the lawn faires, I cannot in good conscience vote for a Cardinals fan.
  4. It's a rare occasion that the Cubs score 2 runs with the bases loaded and nobody out. Opposing teams should just walk the first 3 Cubs batters of every inning. We wouldn't score more than 3 runs per game.
  5. I'd make these guys go over baserunning drills on an off day if this crap keeps up. If they complain, tell them to run the bases better and the drills will stop. I bet it stops real quick.
  6. And because I don't want to have to face Banedon in the next round should I win.
  7. Yeah, huge difference there. I'm not interested in a Rod Beck situation where a once great closer tries to get by with lesser stuff. He'd have to have some legit numbers for me to think this was worth the time. unless he ends up living in an RV in Des Moines and will let fans drink beer with him after games That just might be the greatest thing ever. I'm glad we had Beck, it was hilarious. My friends still laugh about his effeminate prance to cover first base in the 1998 LDS against the Braves. Doubt anyone remembers that, but it was great. I'll always remember him not getting his fat ass over to cover first in Milwuakee early in 1999. Grace threw the ball to nobody, and I think the Brewers came back in the 9th and ended up winning. God, did I hate him after that.
  8. It's official. WGN reported he signed with the Cards before tonight's game. He'll be assigned to AAA, I think.
  9. I'd love to see (hear?) Soriano do it, but I don't think history will be made this week. Schilling came very close to a no hitter earlier this week. Maybe the "almost" bug will strike again tonight and Soriano will "only" have 3 homers tonight.
  10. You gotta wonder if the pitcher kind of psychs himself out in that situation. How many no hitters have been lost with 1 or 2 outs in the ninth?
  11. Come on, did anyone think we would pass on some no-name catcher? Espeically when there were two very good prospects still on the board?
  12. I'm not disputing whether or not he was visibly drunk, but I wonder what the people who didn't come forward to be interviewed thought. I mean, if you were a regular at Shannon's and you thought the suit was BS, and it wasn't obvious that Hancock was plastered, wouldn't you come forward to tell the police that? Great catch. I agree that this is a major setback for the plaintiffs, but the whole "who came forward to be interviewed" part puts a huge asterisk on the whole deal. There actually was a couple that observed Hancock in Shannons that night. They were interviewed by the STL media the day after the accident and they said he was visibly drunk. However, it makes no difference whether anyone thought he was visibly drunk. Missouri does not even permit such a suit if the drinker is 21 or older. The only exception is if if the liquor consumption is "involuntary" and that is what the suit is claiming. I still think that is a very weak argument. Extremely weak. Unless they tied him up, put a funnel in his mouth and poured vodka down his throat, it was in no way "involuntary."
  13. At this point in his career, maybe he sees his skills deteriorating to the point where he won't be around in 2-3 years. He could see dollar signs and then charge mucho bucks for interviews and book deals and whatnot. Because if he'd be the one to bust the steriod thing wide open, he'd be on just about every news show there is. He'd be everywhere for about a month as the man who "helped clean up baseball," then he'd probably sign an 8-figure book deal.
  14. You have to wonder if the fecal material is going to hit the fan in the next couple of months.
  15. [expletive]. Aram is probably out for a week with his hammy now.
  16. Ok, the Cubs have been kidnapped and replaced by a team of highly skilled aliens. I hope that UFO never comes back.
  17. I bet they could still beat us 3 out of 4.
  18. Before the season it wouldn't have made sense to trade Z. He was the undisputed ace of our staff. I don't blame Hendry for not trading him. I don't think I would have, either.
  19. http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=2890979&name=olney_buster And all he gets is a fine? This is the most disgusted I've ever been with the Cubs. At a minimum I think he needs to be ordered to take anger management training and be benched for at least one start. A fine is a joke; this calls for substantially more than a slap on the wrist. I really, really need to find a new favorite team.
  20. Z did to Barrett what I want to do to all of them save a select few. I say turn them all loose on each other. Maybe they'll get what they deserve. Now: Will the Cubs come out with a new fire tomorrow, or will they get smoked again?
  21. I'd also settle for this.
  22. I think what they need is a swift kick in the ass.
