  1. I hear Mark Prior has been inducted into the Simulated Game Hall of Fame. Kerry Wood just missed the cut this time around.
  2. If you go by fielding percentage alone, he was the worst in 14 years.
  3. In the latest issue of Sports Illustrated, they have an article called "Fire Up The Hot Stove." In it, they go over several trade proposals for this winter. One of them would have us trading Murton and Gallagher to Cleveland for Jhonny Peralta. So what does NSBB think?
  4. They could move ARod back to short. Even if he's not as good there as he once was, is anyone really going to complain with the offensive production he'd bring? Damn, Hendry, at least give it a shot.
  5. Oh, what I wouldn't give for just one more Sammy walk-off HR onto Waveland.
  6. I doubt that very much. Our rotation is: Z Lilly Hill Marshall Marquis Any of those top 3 wouldn't move. It would be either Marshall or Marquis. Marshall gives us a better chance of winning than Marquis does, and I hope Lou and Hendry would realize that too. Even over Marshall he'd be an upgrade.
  7. cabrera? Miggy-for 1st base I'd not move Lee until we had an adequate replacement.
  8. agreed. if they want anything to do with barry, they shouldn't voluntarily display stuff mocking him. Its a piece of baseball history. Its not the HOF's fault the ball was branded. what if the guy drew penises and swear words all over it? the HOF doesn't HAVE to display it. they are most definitely making a statement by doing so. Then I'd be first in line to see it.
  9. As The Rocket and Ted Lilly have shown, the NL central aint the NL east. You don't think he'd take advantage of getting 16-20 starts against the Pittsburghs and Houstons of the world? Plus he's a Proven Big Game Pitcher(trademark) and wouldn't give up first pitch homers to Chris Young. Which will cost an extra 4M a season. Can we stop fixing holes that aren't there? And starting more than half his starts against 2 teams would have to be some sort of record. Wish somebody sent the memo to Trachsel that the NL Central is worth a free point in ERA from the AL East. Completely agree. I don't know how many times it needs to be posted on here but the pitching staff was not the problem last year. It's the offense that needs to be upgraded. While you have a valid point, it would still be an upgrade. Would I rather improve the offense? You bet. However, if the staff gets upgraded instead, at least its an upgrade and the team has been bettered. Schilling would push Marquis out of the rotation. That is an upgrade no matter what.
  10. Healthy AND effective. We may get one, but asking for both could be a stretch. But that rotation would be right up there with our 2004 rotation of Prior, Wood, Zambrano, Maddux, and Clement.
  11. According to his blog, he's only looking for a one-year deal, so even if he was injury prone, he'd be gone in a year anyway. I'd take the risk for $11 million or so.
  12. To be fair, it is Truffle's project and he can set the rules he wants.
  13. Word out of Boston is that there is a very realistic chance Schilling won't be with the team next year. With that being said, what would it take to get him to sign a 1 or 2 year deal, and would anyone want him for what it would take to get him?
  14. I put Josh Gibson on my list. Hope Negro League players are ok.
  15. I counted 16, perhaps you thought of the other A-gon. Doesn't really matter though :) Point is, none of these guys should be Cubs by opening day. :crosses fingers: I actually wouldn't be against Kendall as the backup if the price was right. yeah, but what do we do with blanco? Trade him for a ham sandwich.
  16. 1. Bench 2. Berra 3. Campenella 4. Josh Gibson 5. Pudge 6. Simmons 7. Hartnett 8. Fisk 9. Carter 10. Piazza
  17. I'll put a month of premium against that spread. No way the Pats win by that much, if they win at all.
  18. I counted 16, perhaps you thought of the other A-gon. Doesn't really matter though :) Point is, none of these guys should be Cubs by opening day. :crosses fingers: I actually wouldn't be against Kendall as the backup if the price was right.
  19. Yes, but you know as well as anyone that Hunter is right up Hendry's alley. I don't think anyone here would put it past him to acquire Hunter.
  20. A Braun/CF/LaPorta OF though. now that would be scary bad. I'm sure the offense generated would more than make up for the runs let in.
  21. Negative = Me, KC, Jon, TT, Navin, CubsinNY, Rob (might have missed a few) Positive= Everyone else From the Sori signing thread. Good times. I've been against it from day one thats for sure. I was against the money and length of contract, but not Soriano himself.
  22. The offseason is less than 24 hours old and already there's action.
  23. Aww. What a terrible thing it would be if the Yankees would suck. I'd be so heartbroken.
  24. It's possible the Yankees might not have made the playoffs without A-Rod this year. However, 7 other teams did make the playoffs without A-Rod. It doesn't require that you have a 30m player on your roster to make the playoffs. If the Yankees lost A-Rod this offseason, and they went out and spent 30m on pitching (and not just part time players like Clemens), I think they could get back to the playoffs without A-Rod. this is a valid point my man... yeah, the more i think about it...i just hope we keep building without a-rod...way too much money that we could be spending else where a-rod is not single-handedly going to bring up a trophy Even without A-Rod, the Yankees offense is awesome. Let him walk and spend that money on pitching like BBB said. Pitching was the Yanks achillies heel this year, not hitting.
  25. NO player on today's market is worth $35 million per year. Babe Ruth in his prime playing in today's parks MIGHT be worth that much. We could get 2-4 very good players for that much. In this case I'd take the quantity over the quality.
